Elvis makes his version of the this song a masterpiece. The arrangement, backup singers and his voice have been combined to perfection. The King baby.❤
I was not there. But I Think Paul Simon said..how can anyone follow that? Both Art and Elvis sang this beyond reason. Just enjoy the them both. Elvis frasing on the 1st refrain though "like a bridge..." It can never be done better.
Yes Paul. Simon did write it and applauded. Elvis s singing it. So beautifully sung as no other. He felt it as we could see by his facial expressions. Truly the greatest.master. Never another like him. Ever !! Goosebumps everytime he sings.
Wonderful reaction! You expressed exactly how I feel, “vocal perfection”. There is no voice like Elvis’s. I can listen to his music all day and never get bored because one minute you’re listening to rock, then blues, then a romantic ballad, then country, then something close to opera, then jazzy, then soul--I mean the variety of this one man is freaking crazy! And he does them ALL AMAZINGLY! Live the Elvis reactions!
Elvis was a one of a kind with a God given voice and feel for music. He combined Blues,Country,Gospel,Classical and Rock n Roll elements which such distinction. I was 5 years old the day he died and I remember the world stood still that day as every channel you'd flip on TV was talking about it all day long.
You can describe Elvis and his music and his voice with so many words like very cool and he had a bad ass baritone vocals. But, the word to use for Elvis and his band and his back up vocals is. BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE HE WAS THE EPITOME OF WHAT THIS COUNTRY AND MUSIC STANDS FOR. YOU CAN HEAR IT IN HIS VOICE. YOU CAN SEE IT ON THE STAGE WITH HIS BAND AND BACK UP VOCALIST! Just absolutely beautiful in the definition of what he was doing. He will always be missed and he will forever be the KING👍🙏🇺🇸
You HAVE to listen to Elvis sing Surrender!!! He was 21 years old, and you just cannot believe the vocal range he has in that song!!! So damn good!!!! 🔥 Colleen ♥️
The entire band, including singers, orchestra, rhythm section, etc, is about 40-45 people strong. They could be so subtle, then explode! Elvis built the whole band himself and was very meticulous in how he wanted to sound. His greatest hidden talents were production and arrangement. In the documentary movie called That's The Way It Is, you can see how he directs everyone to exactly what he wanted from each member of the group. He said himself that he loved a big sound and that he treated every show like it was the first because most people in the audience were probably seeing him live for the first time. He had already been a living legend for over a decade by this time. People traveled from all over the world to st him perform, especially during his Las Vegas residencies.
Listeners who want to know what songs mean literally are doing themselves a disservice. Great songs, great art of all kinds, leaves the space for us to interpret and to feel the message personally.
Really wonderful performance by Elvis . He did the song big time justice ! I agree his background singers were excellent. This is the first time I've heard his version of the song, the original hard to beat but I believe Elvis managed to master the song perfectly. Great reaction, thanks for sharing 👏👍
React to: ELVIS & THE BLACK COMMUNITY PTS. 1 & 2 + the following songs = AMERICAN TRILOGY, HE TOUCHED ME, HOW GREAT THOU ART, LET IT BE ME, TAKE MY HAND, ONLY BELIEVE, YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE, WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES, WHO AM I, AMAZING GRACE
That was breathtakingly beautiful. Elvis was brave to cover such an iconic, beloved song, but he certainly did his version VERY well.I won't say one version is better than the other as they are different. Elvis sings with such a deep soul, where Art 's verson is ethereal, like and angel singing. Both are brilliant, and of course kudos to Paul Simon for riting such a beauty.
Simon praised the "dramatic" version of the song in a 1972 interview. He added: ". When I first heard Elvis perform Bridge Over Troubled Water it was unbelievable." He went on to berate himself, however, saying: "I thought to myself: 'How the hell can I compete with that?'"Paul Simon Loved it better than His own.But last year on Howard Stern He went on to say He did not like the Elvis version and thought Elvis alone would have made it better. Not sure why He changed His mind 50 yrs later
THANK YOU, BIZ!!!!! Elvis never fails to make me feel better. What he can do with his voice is just otherworldly to me. I have a request for the next song to blow you away. It's called Just Pretend. Very popular song. Here's the link, brother. ✌ ua-cam.com/video/CuuaXIA4A-A/v-deo.htmlsi=UIaylQAuHiiUp6Xd
Such a beautiful live performance. This gets me every time Especially when he hits that final "I will ease your mind!" Sheer beauty and you're right about his breath control and perceived ease with which he sings. U see this in his rehearsals x
Speaking of Christmas, there's one particular Christmas song from Elvis that I absolutely love but seldom hear. Please react to Why Can't Every Day Be Like Christmas. I think the title is slightly different but you shouldn't have any trouble finding it. It's a lovely song with a heartfelt message and longing. Thank you!
Great reaction man. What a singer that guy was. Just fucking incredible. Has there been a better singer? I honestly can't think of one that can match him. From the same 1970 Vegas shows, there's a bunch of other great performances. I'll try and grab some links for you.
thanks for this great reaction. You know Paul Simon was blown away by Elvis rendition. Paul also wrote the Album "Graceland" but said he had never been to the actual Elvis' Graceland. So he went with his little boy and couldn't believe how he felt when he stood at Elvis Grave, he said, "i began to just sob uncontrollably, I didn't mean too. Elvis got to your soul. Be Blessed.
Great video and reaction. Elvis really had an incredible ability to emote through his voice and performance. Could make the audience feel whatever he wanted them to feel.
Paul Simon wrote the lyrics and music. This is not an easy song to sing. Art Garfunkel had a perfect voice for the high end vocal demands. Elvis is better in the lower register.
Elvis always rejected the term king. Whenever someone would call him king during a show or elsewhere he would immediately stop and say, "No. Jesus Christ is the only king". Elvis never, never, never wanted to be called king. He always, always, always rejected it and then would say that only Jesus Christ is king. It frustrates me when people argue whether he was king or not and the fact is that he always rejected it. There are a few videos on UA-cam where you can hear him say that only Jesus Christ is king.
I’ve been watching for years . I always knew he was asking for the horns and the Orchestra to come in there at the end. But if you watch halfway through the song, he looks back to his right back at them. Something halfway through that song he did not like what he was hearing . Out of key ? Not loud enough ? I dunno . That look back to the right halfway through the song he was already telling them. Something was a mess and then come on. Then, of course at the end, trying to close it out with the crescendo he’s really telling them come on with it. I’ll be curious to hear what kind of conversation went on after that concert about that part of that song. I thought it was just at the end, but it’s halfway through. You can tell.
Like God was speaking to us through the voice of Elvis, using the words and music of Paul Simon.
Elvis can sing anything to perfection
Yeah Paul Simon wrote it, but no one can dispute the absolute brilliance of Elvis
Elvis makes his version of the this song a masterpiece. The arrangement, backup singers and his voice have been combined to perfection. The King baby.❤
Elvis fan for 49 years keep up the good work from Australia
So much beauty in Elvis's version of this song. It gives me chills every time ❤
Many could probably write the music but only Elvis could really tell the story! Forever the King 👑 ⚡️
Absolutely beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes. The piano, the choir is beautiful.
Paul Simon Loved Elvis version better than His own.He stated that in the Rolling Stones magazine interview in the 70s
Paul Simon paid Elvis the ultimate comment when he said after hearing Elvis sing this song, Paul said I don’t think I ever want to sing it again.
I was not there. But I Think Paul Simon said..how can anyone follow that?
Both Art and Elvis sang this beyond reason. Just enjoy the them both. Elvis frasing on the 1st refrain though "like a bridge..." It can never be done better.
YES... THEY SAID HOW CAN WE FU..... TOP THAT..🕊🕊🕊

You can't beat Elvis....the best!!!!!!!!
Elvis puts his soul into a song & gives it to his audience just one of many reasons that Elvis Presley is the G.O.A.T.
Such a Beautiful Song, Sung by The Greatest of All Time!! The One, The Only, The Legend, Elvis!!! ❤❤❤❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥💞!!
Arguably America's greatest singer interpreting America's greatest songwriter. Not a shabby combo.
Yes Paul. Simon did write it and applauded. Elvis s singing it. So beautifully sung as no other. He felt it as we could see by his facial expressions. Truly the greatest.master. Never another like him. Ever !! Goosebumps everytime he sings.
Elvis was, is and always will be The King. He could sing the phonebook and make it sound good. Love your reaction!

Elvis - in 1960, when he recorded "Surrender," with coaching from Ray Walker of the Jordanaires - was 25.
Correction 25! Still!!!! 🔥

One of my favorite performances by him and I love them all. Elvis always the best
Elvis can sing a song
So beautiful. Great tone for this song. I love it when he uses that soft buttery tone.

Original is the best.
That's your opinion and keep thinking that, but I believe this version kills the original version.
