Boomerang Streaming Service is Shutting Down

- After 7 years, the Boomerang streaming service is shutting down and the content will be migrating to HBO Max. When the move is complete, Boomerang will have its own hub on the service and unfortunately not all content will survive the migration. I also give my thoughts why the closure isn't that big of a surprise and the service was stagnant anyways.
I want to reiterate that only the streaming service is shutting down, not the cable network. Wanted to make that clear because many people have misinterpreted this closure as the linear cable network Boomerang also shutting down, which is not the case because people don’t know how to read.
In other news, ACME Night will be returning for a 3rd run on August 11th starting with the movie Wild, Wild West from 1999, followed by Mars Attacks, and then finally Ocean's Eleven (again). I'm guessing this is going to be a reoccurring event for now on.
Seven years was a long enough life for the Boomerang streaming service.
I figured the fate with Boomerang was slowly coming sooner or later
They already changed their logo.
I blame me tv toons for this.😂
Really, I thought Boomerang does well.:(
@@PFilms207 they were doomed when
They changed their logo.
Update: WBD shut down some of the websites for their channels.
Including the Cartoon Network website.
@@annamorearchives At least AS, TNT, TBS, Discovery, Animal Planet, HBO, and Cinemax retain their websites.
Honestly, I liked the Boomerang service despite its many flaws.
It didn't have every WB, CN and H-B classic under the sun, but it served as a nice archive for what it had.
At least we have MeTV Toons now, so there's something close.
But for MeTV Toons, does anyone care about cable anymore?
Boomerang is slowly but surely fading away...
Preventing kids from saying first
Good for you
You technically still said it
The streaming service has ignored Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Magilla Gorilla and Atom Ant's B & C segments, which in this case being Pixie and Dixie, Hokey Wolf, Snagglepuss, Yakkey Doodle, Ricochet Rabbit, Punkin' Puss and Mushmouse, The Hillbilly Bears and Precious Pupp (which makes The Magilla Gorilla Show's intro completely misleading). This exact same thing happened when they returned to Boomerang for Thanksgiving 2020, Max (Yogi Bear and Magilla Gorilla (Portugal & Mexico for the latter) only), Tubi (Yogi Bear only) and when Yogi made a suprise come back to Cartoon Network in honor of Warner Bros.' 100th anniversary (which ended in disaster due to TTG's WB 100th Birthday episode being delayed at the last minute). But from what I heard, Portugal & Mexican's version of Max still had Hillbilly Bears & Precious Pupp intact with Atom Ant, but I don't know for sure...since I got the closest I could get to a free VPN, and by free, I mean FREE free VPN. Not a Free VPN but you still have use your credit card for memberships and full features stuff first kind of Free.
It also ignored all the other Hanna-Barbera shows, even including ones that were already released before the app. Such as....
That were already released on DVD, Amazon & iTunes a few years before the app:
Loopy de Loop
pretty much almost all of their action shows besides Johnny Quest
The Peter Potamus Show
The Secret Squirrel Show
all of the Scooby-Doo (so-called) rip-offs that aren't Josie and Captain Caveman (I called them "so-called" rip-offs instead of just rip-offs because, how are they rip-offs when it's Hanna-Barbera (oh, and Joe and Ken, too) that created them? I think they're more like a trending kind show than a rip-off.)
Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch!
Hong Kong Phooey
Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch
The Kwicky Koala Show
The Addams Family (1973 only)
Inch-High, Private Eye
Pac-Man
The Snorks
After the app:
Half of The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series (Wally would get his own seperate DVD release on June 25th, 2019 with Lippy getting his own 2 weeks later. Leaving Touché Turtle the only one Home Media-less)
Don Coyote and Sancho Panda (I think, Amazon only)
Never released on video or streaming at all:
Ruff and Reddy
Quick Draw McGraw (It was originally going to be on DVD, but was scrapped due to something about music issues...IDK...and thus, Quick Draw, Snooper and Blabber and Augie Doggie became one of Hanna-Barbera's most ignored cartoons of all Home Media and streaming releases, leaving piracy cartoon sites such as WatchCartoonOnline and Kimcartoon being the only way to watch it.)
Touché Turtle (As said before, it was the only show from TH-BNCS to never get a DVD release yet...until MeTV Toons was announced revealing that it's gonna be airing soon, showing us a sign that they might be planning on airing the non-Home Media released very soon.)
Grape Ape
The Mumbly Cartoon Show
CB Bears
Heyyy, it's the King!
Cattanooga Cats
The Banana Splits
Skate Birds
Grape Ape sucks.
The reason why Ruff and Ready has never been released is also due to music licensing issues. Huckleberry Hound thankfully had this issue resolved and is coming to MeTV Toons soon.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews And with Touché Turtle announced to be on the channel, we can bet our money that Ruff and Reddy and Quick Draw McGraw will.
1975 Tom And Jerry Show (Show stinked by the way.) was not only on Boomerang’s app but on Tubi too.
ACME Nights is back?
*interesting*
It kinda sucks because the app is the only streaming service (other than Prime Video) that had Camp Lazlo and My Gym Partners A Monkey.
Did you hear that the Cartoon Network website shutdown? Also, I also am hearing rumors that Cartoon Network is shutting down, but I do not think that is true since it is a primary channel and their secondary channel, Boomerang, is still doing decent and has no plans of shutting down!
If Cartoon Network itself were to shut down,
What would become of Adult Swim and Toonami ? 🤔
The TV channel is still here for the moment.
I forgot this was a thing
To be honest. I am more surprised that Boomerang lasted as long as it did when HBO Max was announced. I have a feeling the channel will be shutdown next after the Steaming service.
Thanks a Lot, David Zaslav!!! #FireDavidZaslav #BoycottWBD
Man, I wish MeTV Toons would come up with a streaming service since its barely available.
honestly I never knew boomerang had a streaming service, like my family would buy the streaming service anyway =.= I watch the channel more anyway,I'm glad the channel will remain around, but if they ever shut down the channel,I'm going full rage mode cause that's the only way I can watch my favorite shows that's still on tv,but I'm glad I still get to enjoy the channel
Well that's good
Fingers crossed that camp lazlo, juniper lee, gym partner, and huckleberry hound get added to max
Doubt it.
@@ZeepAtomic what do you mean?
@@charlesm5218 This is WBD we're talking about. I don't think they'd show even the littlest of remorse for those shows.
The last one is probably gonna be the only one joining the service.
Also, they might add Dexter’s lab back
Hopefully
The worst thing about this streaming service is that it's only available in the US
I also have that cartoon network streaming service idea!
This is actually a win with MeTV Toons being a thing now and more shows going to Max
But the huge question is, do people care about cable anymore since MeTV Toons is a TV channel?
Oh look at that. Yet another standalone channel app closing down.
Disney XD 1998-2019
Died of Disney+
NickToons 2002-2024
Died to spam SpongeBob to nicktoons
Boomerang 2000-2024
Rip the streaming service
Same fate for the website
HBO saying they own boomerang TV shows on their digital patform means more chance to delete them
That's what I was thinking
sad but true since they love to delete cartoons and our childhood,I started hating hbo max,I've even told my mom to stop supporting them that's how pissed I was at that time, sadly her favorite shows are all on hbo max, lucky while all my favorite shows are down the drain never to be seen or heard of ever again
This is crazy. 😥
Never trust Max with animated shows, they'll flush them down the toilet first thing.
Can you do a ranking for the Weigel networks (including MeTV Toons and Dabl)?
I don't see much point in doing that
Cartoon Network's website has shutdown.
Did you know that the Cartoon Network Website also shut down recently? You should make a video of it!
David zaslav is caillou
Caillou when he grows up and becomes a selfish billionaire
LITERALLY!
He canceled Close Enough and removed it from HBO Max. I wish I could do something about him, but I can not just start a raid by myself.
Zaslav is Anti-Semitic
Makes me feel sorry for the creators (and the staff) that worked hard on the shows and the movies...they didn't deserve to get tax-written off (or cancelled), and begin a bit of a trend on other companies doing a similar stunt.
That guy has no heart for animation at all!
As a side note: never trust mergers or acquisitions.
wonder if they will have a METV Toons Service to pay for
Hope not..😢
...and the day this goes up, CN's website is shut down.
Oof. Double whammy.
Boomerang streaming service came out in 2017 and will shut down? Well that must be a mistake. I am more familiar with the boomerang streaming service than the max streaming service. The streaming service needs to be saved. In my defense HBO Max, now Max, was probably a mistake. HBO bought Warner Brothers. What was HBO thinking?
At least the channel is fine.
For now…
I find it kinda funny how the Boomerang streaming service is getting shut down before the actual channel, but we do live in a weird media landscape.
It's gonna get even weirder from here
I blame me tv toons.😂
I agree with you dinsey now app is shutting down
Prime Video still has it for the time being but that may change too.
What is the music you used at the start of the video?
Weatherscan Track 22
Who need streaming service when you have torrent
'Twas only a matter of time
We will no longer see the 1950s - onward Looney Tunes shorts time to pay a fortune for blu ray collections
Most of them are back on Max. Sure it was unexpected but it was a huge surprise to see them come back.
@@ReddyToAnimate which ones came back the hunting trilogy
@@NathanielCanty-wp7fp yes. In fact, almost all of the shorts from 1951-1969 came back.
@@ReddyToAnimate it must be because of the boomerang merge even the 1990s and 2000s revival shorts came back
@@NathanielCanty-wp7fp yeah. Though sadly the ones that were Boomerang exclusives didn’t return but can still be watched on an Internet Archive folder which features files of every OG Looney Tunes short.
Welp The Boomerang app was a good thing even though the same branding still exists.
Whats next? They might Shutdown the CN app to? WBD makes me suffer alot
They shut down the CN website
Does ACME Night have live action movies?
Yes, nearly all of them have been live-action.
@@ArtieRaccoonReviews I don't get it. People hated live-action shows on CN REAL and said that live-action stuff don't belong on the CARTOON Network. But now there are live-action movies on ACME Night on Cartoon Network and people are watching it and liking it.
At least it’s not CN Real…
Well we got me tv toons so...
@@nehemiahpouncey3607 does anyone care about cable anymore?
