So, is Hollywood still using that yellow filter whenever a movie takes place in Mexico? I've been to Mexico and it's not yellow... 🤔 It's all a lie!! They brainwashed me... 😭😅 Oh, and they have the most delicious food, by the way, and great people. 🙏🏻🔥
There are a few things I wish could be gone over a bit slower for a "basic" tutorial, like how to even make a node, or how to rename them like you do. But I went and watched other more basic tutorials and came back to this one and made more sense. Always good to get multiple opinions of a process to start formulating your own!
Man, this is the best short color grading tip video I've come across and beats UA-camrs with 1m+ subscribers! Lots of awesome tricks in here! Thank you for this!
I've watched so many "Basic" colour grading for Davinci Resolve, and holy shit, this one is easily way above the others! Thank you for the clear and concise explanation, cannot wait to try these out!
Just picked up a Sigma fp for 12 bit raw and after going through this tutorial the results have blown me away. 100 times better than what I was getting with my XH1 and Premiere.
This is a great video! Very well laid out. Very well thought out. Your teaching approach provides a great deal of clarity, and each point you made was extremely helpful. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
Finally a tutorial that I can follow understanding why I'm doing that... really awesome video, thanks a lot ❤. Sadly I just have a Sony A6100 so I don't have S log 😢 but I will work harder to get my A7 III or A7 IV ❤
Using Davinci for the first time making a video for a theater project. Followed your settings in the video and got the output better than I expected. Thank you so much!
I shot in v-log and was following other tutorials with limited success and was starting to get worried until I found your suggestions. Footage now is looking great!
Layer nodes are really interesting, very useful for isolating elements you want to grade separately. Lots of uses outside of protecting skin tones, looking forward to using this technique.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. You made it so simple and I really hope you can please make like a in-depth video about Davinci Resolve for mostly beginners. Thanks again. ❤️
so you remember your dreams and their colors? lmao nice one dude, you probably will get a nobel for this one day bc you are the first one in history to achieve that :DDDD
WoW, thank you Joris, Been flying a DJI FPV for a while and the footage always looked washed out, I did try coulour grading (don't have a scooby) LOL well, you're two little pointers really turned the footage around, it looks brilliant now :D
Great video for DR !!!! I appreciate you for your way of explaining the process. It is, sometimes, hard to understand that color correction is important before you color grade and Cinematic is not just one look.
yes, however qualifier tool detects contrast and color.. log profile doesn't contain as much contrast and color as rec709 ..i think it make sense.. i just knew that this week actually 😂😂
I'll pin your comment in the hopes someone will share their experience and maybe a definitive answer or explanation. Thanks for making it interesting 🫡🙏🏻
Thanks for the video, very clear and helpful! I'm still a complete zero in video processing, and therefore was surprised that LUT is not the only thing needed. I thought that LUT were a ready-made setting from professionals for those who are not sure of their taste and experience. Now I know that this is just one of the tools.
Love your videos sir. Straight to the point and I can use this advice towards Panasonic and Fuji, and not strictly slog3 grading. 🙏🙏 One of the best channels on youtube, seriously.
following this to try out my new iPhone 15 Pro Max! I've only touched Resolve once before for a quick video trim, but I'm learning to love it :) now for a question: the input gamma in 18.6 has "Apple Log" setting, but I'm not sure what to select for the "Input Color Space". I tried ACES (AP0) and it looks alright, but is there a better option?
Hi Joris, loved to much this tutorial. This will be my guide for slog 3, i own a dron wich uses a sony chip. But now I have a cuestión. What do I have to do if a get a footage that it is not recorder in Slog 3. Do I have to use same color space transform, or who do I have to work withis this footage. Thanks a lot for your help.
This was great. I feel like I can dive right into the color page now. I’m still using the M50. Can you please a video like this to get a good cinema look for the M50?
Thanks for the video. I have 3 questions. 1. How can I copy and paste the nods? 2. Should we do the colour correcting/cinematic after finishing the edit? 3. I try to use the features and steps in this video for all my clips, but I can not do that.
@jorishermans I can be considered to be a noob in using Davinci resolve. I shoot video with a Sony Xperia 5 Ii. Just for fun. It does have a b.2020 color setting mode. Assuming there are other folks out there, could you go into that kind of stuff a bit more. In my case I am using a MacBook pro 14" (M2) that works great with that kind of footage, but it is not easy figuring out how to set up davinci resolve correctly. I spent a lot of time making my little video look a bit normal. A mix of project settings and using CST did it. Any suggestions for your followers? BTW: great channel! I learned a lot.
I'm a novice, so I'll certainly defer to you, but instead of using the layer node at 9:00, couldn't you have just inverted the selection in the node where you had selected the skin tones, then made the changes within that same node... affecting only the non skin-toned areas? I tested that theory, and it seemed to work.
Joris, I'm a little confused on something. What do you do if you are trying to edit a music video and some footage needs to be color-graded from SLOG 3, but the B-Roll has already been color-graded? If your color space transform is set to SLOG3 S-Gamut3.Cone; won't that mess up the already color-graded footage? I'm a newbie, I just don't want to screw this up. Super important.
Hey I shot with bmpcc 6k on film 3:1 how do ik what input to put for color space and gamma i dnt see my settings.. also how do ik my Gen ? I have bmpcc 6kg2 not the PRO or FF just the
How do u know what u shot on sorry ima noob . I jus got Bmpcc 6k settings is 6k BRAW/FILM that’s all ik and I can remember at the moment. So how ik if it’s rec709 ect ?

Am waiting for more videos about color grading . U R so amazing in explaining
Mexico is cool and the food is awesome, just like your video, thanx!!

which app do you use tell me
That layer trick for the skin tone is great! I love how easy it is to accomplish complicated color grading with Resolve’s node process!
There are a few things I wish could be gone over a bit slower for a "basic" tutorial, like how to even make a node, or how to rename them like you do. But I went and watched other more basic tutorials and came back to this one and made more sense. Always good to get multiple opinions of a process to start formulating your own!
Think you could tell me how one makes a node…? 😂😂

great content as usual.. i found that qualifier tool works better after rec709 color transform..

Great video, are these corrrections done before the transform? I think you told in one of your previous video it’s better to them them before ?
Yes, most corrections before CST.

Any tips on using CST for iphone footage? Im using an app that allows me to shoot in log.
taaaaaaaaaaanks!
Does it show the type of Log in the dropdown list of the CST?
this is insane.... colll... but what is the function from node number 4?
Love the tutorial and all but how do you even get to that view on Davinci? I think a critical step missed for new folk like myself
learned more from you grading than anyone
i feel like good with your tips hahah
In "color space transformation" what settings should be used when filming with a Gopro 10 with flat profile?
You different!

When adding the node, do you add the serial node or the corrector node
