FYI: The chapter at 10:23 is the labeled incorrectly. It's the wiring analogy, but you have it labeled as the golf analogy which comes later. Side note, you should take a look at my Short called "Battlefield Chessboard" and then decide to make one yourself. I would love for my idea to get out there some more. I plan to make a detailed video on the process but I haven't received a new order for one since the first few I made.
No matter how much you need the money you should not be promoting betterhelp. Look up FTC and betterhelp to get an idea of what everyones complaining about
Most embarrassing story: When I was in my twenties, I had fertility testing done. I did the deed, collected the sample and headed for the lab. I get to the lab to turn my sample in and the woman behind the counter turns out to be somebody I had a massive crush on all throughout high school. She noticed me and was like "Oh my gosh! I haven't seen you in years how are you?" I was stunned by who I had to turn my sample over to and my brain froze. Instead of responding in kind like a normal person, what came out of my mouth was "Oh hey I was just thinking about you!"
😂😂😂 thats so good. My friend in high school had a similar one with a cute girl we knew who collected his stool sample. The “just thinking about you” definitely wins though
There was another part of the video where it showed the two tables together, but I thought it was just a height check or something. I never considered that putting them together like that was intentional.
Apparently you did a very thorough research on better help and you definitely are not repeating the same thing that everyone else on the comment section for the sake of attention.
@@zeroomens9438 I tried their service some years ago. Therapy in general is garbage and doing it online doesn't make it better. It might be useful to waste your time and money going to therapy just to give you the realization that working out, going out, eating well and getting off meds and drugs will be a way cheaper and more enjoyable way to get over depression and such.
Hello, I've been following your videos for several years now, and I must say that the quality is only increasing! you also gave me the motivation to make my own epoxy table with your nano finish (walnut table that I made cracked and broken with an ax on a press to give it width to fill in epoxy, it's was a lot of fun!) and also to be a better carpenter by reminding myself what a beautiful profession it is. Keep it up! Greetings from Switzerland
I enjoy your videos. The narration of the process through the job punctuated with humor keeps me engaged all the way to the end. And I am very impressed with your attention to the smallest of details and the final product.

Thanks Cam. It's interesting, people who say they wouldn't pay $18k when the wood only cost you $3k. Obviously, they don't understand the incredible amount of work & hours you spend on each project, and the brilliant results you produce for your clients. Would Blacktail Studio UA-cam channel be, by any chance, even better than whatever therapy sponsor you could ever reach for? I mean, here we are, a bunch of grown-up adults spilling our most embarrassing stories in front of perfect strangers, no doubt relieving the moment and maybe getting some catharsis from it. Providing good chuckles along the way too (For once, I've spent more time reading the comments than watching the video, and having such a good time at it LOL). So here is my contribution. Last week of high school was time for THE gymnastic competition, a final exhibition crowning months of training. All the kids were sitting squeezed into the gym, including many of the girls I had a crush on, looking at each one of us performing. I was pretty good at doing a front somersault at the time, first running some distance then jumping on a little wooden springboard, before doing a 360 flip and landing on my two feet. For my final demonstration, I decided to give everyone a good show, ran fast and jumped on the board with élan, sending me high into the air while I started my spin. A bit too high. Resulting in my body doing one quarter rotation too many and me landing perfectly flat on the foam mat, face first and arms spread out, with the loudest thumping sound reverberating across the entire building. When I came to and finally managed to stood up, the entire school - including the PE teachers - were still rolling on the floor laughing. Beautiful tables and the reveal of the matching ends at 28:37 was the cherry on the cake.
I've watched woodworking videos since I was a kid and this is by far one of the most beautiful expressions of walnut I've ever seen. The wood guys' secret stash is on point!
Most embarrassing story: I was drinking too much and stayed over my buddy’s house that night. The next day I woke up and hung out for a while and then needed to go home to shower and change. I lived about 15 minutes away. On the way, I get pulled over and the officer tells me that my license plate is on upside down. Immediately I know it was my friend’s brother pranking me. I explained it to the officer and he let me go to fix it. I got pulled over two more times on the way. I was so angry with him. Finally I get back to my friends house after fixing the plate at mine and start yelling at him. They all explain to me that I was the one who decided to play the prank on my friend’s brother and turn his plate upside down but accidentally did it on my own car. Lesson is don’t drink and play pranks 😂
Feels like a waste of time to comment but I really love these videos. I’m an amateur with notions when it comes to woodwork but this stuff inspires me. Lots of love and respect from Ireland 🇮🇪
I think I can outdo you in the embarrassment area Cam - I once went for an interview around 2006 at a tech company as a product manager. I had a panel interview with 4 people ,- two men and two women. Everything was going fine...then came to the point where I had to give the usual 15-minute PowerPoint presentation on how I would approach the role. At the time the only USB drives I had were work ones, and I didn't want to use one of those for an interview at a competitor, so I borrowed one from a work colleague. When the guy asked for my presentation, I promptly gave him the USB drive with it on so he could load it on the PC connected to the projector. Thing is, their company PC was more modern than my old home laptop, with a new version of Windows with fancy new features like displaying ALL the documents when you plug in removable media. So I had to look on in horror as the projector showed the USB drive opening and displaying my work colleagues collection of dozens and dozens of porn images which must have been in a hidden folder on the drive. The guy loaded the presentation anyway, and I had to spend the next 15 minutes presenting to a group of people who thought I was some sort of absolute deviant. Needless to say, I wasn't offered the job!
Most embarrassing moment: Fist day of work as a civilian at a military base, first job out of college. Walking down a hallway to the cafeteria. I turn a corner and all the soldiers, airmen and sailors in the hall snap to attention and salute. I was like, Wow! This is Cool! I salute back. Military people coming down the hall as I walked along did the same thing. Again, WOW! This is so cool! I salute back again, trying not to smile. The hallway opens up to a rotunda. A 3-star admiral and his aide walk past me. They'd been behind me for I don't know how long. As we pass, the admiral smiles at me and salutes. The disdain in his aide's eyes was killer.
The "actually waving at someone behind you" trope is such a ubiquitous cliché, but somehow the fact that it was a salute makes it so much worse and I can't explain why. Maybe because it's a sign of respect rather than just a greeting?
I’ve been a subscriber for a while now and while I have no real interest in becoming a woodworker I keep coming back to these videos for their insane camera work! To find something showcased this well on UA-cam is rare. Fantastic stuff.
Thank you for acknowledging your viewers who are not wood workers. I love your videos and watch in awe even though I have no desire to saw, sand nor finish. I do dream of a table in my home…
@@Linkus_1 He never accepts any responsibility from his audience, total dick head who prefers money over a company that lies about fake doctors and steals money from patients in need.
Oh god... BetterHelp. Ya know this is like one, if not the worst, of TechBro creations. Not only do they do the usual exploit workers bit (like really, would you want the guy doing open heart or brain surgery on you to be a gig worker?) they scrub patient notes and sell the metadata to advertisers, who then in turn use the specific person's mental/emotional struggle state to sell em shit. Please.... show some respect to your audience and dont take BetterHelp money, cause let's be honest, UA-camrs who do are only concerned about helping themself. Seriously? A channel of your size needs/wants BetterHelp money? Shame.
Not to mention that just for simple help, they're stupidly expensive. Probably because they keep having to pay youtubers to promote them. (Count how many videos they sponsor... it's crazy)
@frankdrebinn I happen to be an Army vet and CG AD. I don't know a single vet who has benefited from Better Help and, of the dozens of official and unofficial mental health resources various leaders and clinicians across multiple units have offered/recommended, none were Better Help. Stop using us to shamelessly promote your business.
They used to literally sell peoples' names and email addresses along with their mental health questionnaire answers to Facebook and other advertising companies. The FTC had to sue them to stop doing that.
Most embarrassing moment: Got an invitation to a birthday party from friends I was in the University with a couple of years before and when I arrive at the place, they saw me and said: "Oh, we invited the wrong (first name)" in front of everybody. But they gracefully let me in so I drank the whole fine bottle of wine I brought as a present and once it was empty I went home. Never spoke to them again.
@@BlacktailStudio Better help has actively damaged people's lives by selling private medical information, is embroiled in lawsuits right now, and is not a product you want to be anywhere near, no matter how many zeroes are involved. Beautiful tables Cam. And the way you fixed that corner was genius. And what else should you expect from your best friend, heckling of course! Great video 👍👍👍
They got sued for selling user data. I don’t think it’s appropriate to accept sponsorship money from a “therapy” site that just four years ago was taken to court over selling the sensitive information of their clients to ad agencies.
They shared some info the FTC didn't like a few years ago (pre-2020) Can linked a whole write up (it's *very* long) but honestly people get over zealous hating what is basically just a platform to find a therapist. Some are great, some suck, just like finding an in person therapist lol
They shared data from before 2020 the FTC claims they shouldn't have, but had already changed specifics before the FTC approached them. People seriously blow this so out of proportion, because they read headlines or listen to a few YTers that want to doom-draw viewers or something. It's wild. It was over 4 years ago at this point they changed their policy, which compared to many other sites that aren't medical related was child's play. Google sells far more sensitive data on all of us daily lol, idk even aside from that reading into it it just doesn't come off as worse (if anything it's better) than taking a Ray on sponsorship. It's on the consumer at some point.@@DannyDevitoOffical-TrustMeBro
@@jono6379but they do....just looked into their application process & you have to submit license information before you even submit contact info or any work history. Yes, they may have had an issue, but they've obviously fixed it.
Embarrassing story: For my birthday one year, I had a bunch of my friends over at my house including a girl that I have basically been in love with since highschool. I was doing a "make your own pizza" thing where I had made all the dough and sauce myself and was cooking everyone's pizza in my nice vintage cast iron skillets. My sister was over with her fairly new like 7 month old baby, and at one point she asked if she could give him a bath in my shower. In the back of my mind, I was praying that she would not use the hand soap bottle I had in there. I had previously replaced the soap that was in the bottle with mineral oil for personal.....massage reasons... Sure enough a few minutes later she comes running out of the bathroom freaking out and yelling "What was in that hand soap bottle?!?!" She evidently thought that, since I was a cast iron enthusiast, that maybe I had made a sodium hydroxide solution and put some in that bottle for whatever reason. (sodium hydroxide is good for dunking an old cast iron pan in to remove all the old built up carbon and baked on grease) Anyways, she is making all this commotion and despite trying to quietly calm her down so I can explain the situation in private, she is hysterical and demanding an answer now. So with all the frantic cooking going on that I am responsible for combined with her hysterics, I yell out in front of everybody "ITS F***ING MINERAL OIL!" Everybody is now looking at me and her and she asks "Why the f*** do you have mineral oil in a hand soap bottle in your shower?" to which I reply "Why do you think I have something like that in the shower?" Now, everyone is looking at me and laughing since I basically just admitted to everyone that I have a bottle of lube in the shower for doing the deed. And my sister had just covered her very young 7 month old son in lube. Worst birthday ever.
@@BlacktailStudio I think I still need some therapy from that incident. Can't wait to tell my nephew about it someday. Maybe he can hear it narrated by you!
4:09 when the video faded there I legitimately thought the therapy talk wasn't a sponsorship. I thought you were just giving sagely advice to the commenters. Then the sponsorship whiplashed me right in the face. Bravo, king, got me so bad I might consider buying the N3 Nano..... maybe.... I mean it does offer that next level of protection.........
Love how relatable your content is and how personable you are. Also really like when you talk about things like the uncommon live edge characteristics, what your clients like/request more than other things, and little recommendations like dental tools and photography lights. We're also going to need to see some more ping pong highlight reels.
As a contractor, I’ve come to realize that prioritizing quality is the best way to build a reputation. Sometimes I’ll do things that the client would never even notice but the referrals that come from that make it 100% worth it!
i could never live something like that down… 😂 i sure hope you at least didn’t try to snark back at people in the comments who brought it up!!!! now THAT would be the MOST embarrassing…
It’s a shame to see a channel I’ve enjoyed for a while take the Better Help sponsorship. I thought it was possible that maybe you just weren’t aware quite how sinister a company they are, but after reading your replies to others commenting and voicing their objections, it seems clear that you don’t really care. While a few people unsubscribing may not affect your bottom line, I feel like when there are a fair amount of comments speaking about the negative impact this company has had on many people, you should take notice and do some research rather than respond with sarcastic comments. It’s completely understandable that you would want to take on sponsorship, but when you have such a large following, it’s incumbent upon you to do research on the products and services you support. I’m disappointed in your approach to those trying to explain their stance and I hope you take the time to reflect upon that and are more careful about what you advertise in the future.
Wow thats a bit over the top. Ive seen a lot of channels work with better health and this is the first Ive heard of any negativity. Maybe a better approach would be to drop an informative comment rather than an attacking one.
My most embarrassing story is I used to deliver wine and liquor and one time when I was downtown I was delivering to a nightclub in a high rise building. And when I was in the freight elevator I noticed my shoe laces were untied and so I bent down to tie my shoes. Right as I did that, the high speed elevator started to climb and the momentum of the lift and then me bending over, pulled me face first straight to the ground and I hit my face on the wheel of my hand truck and broke my nose and got a pretty bad black eye. After I made the delivery and came back down to ground level, I walked out of the elevator and the guards at the security desk were dying laughing as they asked if I was ok because they saw me on the security camera. So embarrassed, but you have to laugh at yourself lol

i love to watch as Much as possible of these projects. i can understand not showing every step Every time since that does get repetitive, but still. watching every step as a piece transforms before our eyes is Always fun to enjoy.
There was a guy I worked with that we would always pull practical jokes on each other. It helped pass the time. The best one I ever did on him was completely random and not even at work. I went to Walgreens to get some ibuprofen. He happened to be there also. It wasn't packed but there were plenty of people there. I walked to the end of the aisle he was in and said, very, very loudly "Hey Adam, the ointment for that itch you have down there is two aisles over." and just walked away. The array of emotions on his face was amazing. It went from confusion, to realization, to anger and finally embarrassment. All within seconds. The best part, unbeknownst to me, was his girlfriend was in the next aisle and she started belly laughing.
Me and my buddies used to do something similar in check out lines and other public places when we knew people near us were within easy ear shot. One guy would ask “so what did the doctor say?” The other would respond with some version of “it’s not contagious this time. It just needs some ointment.” Follow up would be questions like “do you know where you got it?” or “are you going to say something to her this time?” Pick your favorite private conversations, pick a time and place to embarrass a captive audience (store clerks) and have some fun. 🤙🏼
I would have put on my thickest lisp, hand on my hip, and LOUDLY answered back at you, "THANKS HON. SO GLAD THE DOCTOR REASSURED ME ITS NOT CONTAGIOUS, BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK YOURSELF JUST TO BE SURE". mic drop
@@BlacktailStudio Come on... not everything can be solved with a witty comment. Have some accountability, do your research on Betterhelp, and cut ties with the company.
Cam, I actually built one of these table bases back in 2022. I don’t believe that drawings would really be very helpful when in reality the hardest part is figuring how to get the pieces to stay together. I made a sandwich of plywood and marked on each where the ends of the wood would lie. I then used some strategic cuts to make resting spots where the wood intersected and then screwed, glued and plugged. It was very challenging and that was with drawings. I have no Idea if this helps but I do have drawings and pictures. -Ben
Second best way to deal with embarrassing things is just forget them - usually we are the only ones that remember them and make big deal out of them. The best way is just make fun of your self and don't be so serious about yourself.
When I was 15, I attended a Billy Keller basketball camp. You know, typical camp stuff; dribbling, shooting, trying to impress your friends and NOT embarrass yourself. So there we all were, sitting on the gym floor, listening to Billy give this really intense motivational speech. I was hanging on every word, feeling super inspired... and then it happened. I accidentally let out a fart. Not just any fart, this fart echoed through the gym like I had a microphone attached. It was so loud that Billy Keller, an actual basketball legend, paused. Like, mid-sentence, dead silence, just staring at me. I wanted the gym floor to swallow me whole. Safe to say, that was the most embarrassing thing that could happen to a teenage girl. Ever. I think the tables turned out beautifully. If I had $25000 to spend on tables, I’d totally buy them.
The funny thing about it - as boy you would have been proud of it that the fart was sooo loud and well pronounced - you would have been the legend... maybe thats a difference between girls and boys nobody have thought about it yet. 🙂
I misread this for a moment as Hellen Keller camp... Finish the story and think... Even if it was Hellen Keller... They'd smell what you dealt, so there'd be no escape.
LOL I had close to the same thing happen, not a fart or in that completely inappropriate situation to let one loose. High School female no one I knew in the dead silence of a reading exercise class. THOUGHT I had silently burped while engrossed in my book and heard a very loud and lengthy belch. Wondering who on Earth was so rude to do that (kids were a whole lot more polite in class way back then) and looked up. Only realized it had to be ME - because everyone was was just as disgusted staring directly at me.
By far my most embarrassing story comes from my 8th grade trip to Washington DC. My class was very small because I went to a private school. As a young kid I always knew I would end up working in EMS and I was a bit of a squirrel when I was younger. A term for someone who is “obsessed” with EMS stuff. I had a small first aid kit in my backpack and once one person found out everyone found out. Everyone was poking fun and making fun of me. I said “why is it a problem? I’m certified in CPR and first aid through the Red Cross”. People kept going and kept poking fun at me and someone started asking questions. I got so fired up that I blurted out “I’m certified to give birth”. The entire bus erupted in laughter and even the teachers were holding back laughter. I was mortified. I meant to say I was “certified to deliver a baby”. As a 12 year old boy, that was the most mortifying, embarrassing and horrifying thing that could’ve happened to me. I grew up in EMS and public service. Spent all my time hanging out with firefighters, paramedics and EMT’s. I work in public service now and I regret the day I have to “give birth” IE deliver a baby, because I know that I’ll probably be holding back laughter. All I’ll be thinking about is that bus ride to Washington DC. PS. I’m no longer a “squirrel”, thankfully I grew out of that. 😂
That reminds me. As an awkward and socially inept 13 or 14-year-old boy, I happened to hug a random WWII Vet in Washington DC at the National Cemetary. It was so weird. I was already almost 6' tall and randomly side-hugged him with almost no exchanging of words. The confused look this 80-something-year-old man gave me was quite something. He wasn't offended or anything, he just seemed weirded out and uncomfortable, as I'm sure anyone would've been. I'm just hoping he thought I knew someone who died in the military or something. I've got plenty of retired vets in my family, but none of them have died. I wasn't even alive when most of them were in the service. I'm sure glad I'm an adult now.
This might be an underrated part of your videos, but I appreciate how candid you are about how much everything costs. A lot of people are very dodgy about costs, but it’s nice to have some perspective on what actually goes into making these projects happen

@@BlacktailStudio You're not the first channel to push "Better Help" for ads. A lot of the large channels do it. As with most advertising though, sometimes people pay to get their name out there even if they aren't the best. That's why it's called advertising. I don't blame you for using them, but I would suggest keeping certain ones in mind that are negative experiences for your viewers. You'd hate to lose subs over ads. For instance, Perkins Brothers channel did an add with a gambling game ad a few weeks ago and it was so negative in the comments, they dropped the video and removed the ad, then re-uploaded and said they wouldn't use them going forward. I thought that was very kind of them to understand that while nobody necessarily wants ads, it does help pay these channels, so in some ways, the ads are part of the content and the viewers had to like them. Btw, you're still awesome and this was another amazing set of tables! I'm trying to get wealthy enough to get you to make me one... in the meantime, I purchased a 40 year old table and have been sanding it. The water trick is also something I stumbled upon just a week ago with my sanding!! Best
@@BlacktailStudiothe above comment was not facetious. It’s disappointing to see you accepting BetterHelp as a sponsor. Their business practices are harmful to their patients. Most embarrassing story: I was taking the SAT in high school and we had a break between two sections of the test. One female student walked up to the teacher and said something very quietly. The teacher whispered, "No," then turned to the class and quietly asked some nearby students, "Do any of you have paper?" I raised my notebook over my head and LOUDLY said, "I got paper." The teacher muttered something like "Oh... no thanks." Everyone in the room seemed to get real quiet and start staring at their desks. I realized that the teacher had said, "Do any of you have a pad?" because the girl was on her period.
Most embarrassing moment: I had an Orchiectomy when I was 17 (look it up), and in the post op evaluation the doctor asked if a student could join. I told him to bring them all in, admittedly I was trying to be sarcastic, but he didn’t pick up on it. He said that it was a great idea and thanked me for my compliance I couldn’t stop him before he left but I wish I did because he returned with 5 beautiful college aged women and proceeds to examine the surgical site by whipping everything out into the open air (everything, it was almost akin to a mechanic throwing open a car hood) I was petrified of women and embarrassed of my genetic gifts so all I could imagine to say is that it was pretty cold being uncovered. The doc replied with “we can all clearly see that you are cold” (referencing… obvious shrinkage) which resulted in uncontrollable laughter from the students and a life time of mental scars to my psyche.
He probably sees therapy as something good. The problem with this sponsor is that they underpay therapists. They get newly licensed folks who need experience and both underpay and overwork them. It creates high turnover as their therapists get the experience they need and move on to more traditional routes.
This channel is my Zen space. Watching the woodworking that I know absolutely nothing about is like meditating. Just sit back, relax and take it all in.
one of my first jobs was tech support at a small scale dial-up ISP in the 90s. we had a rotating shift where you would do like 3 weeks during the day, and 1 week on nights. it was open from like 6am to midnight. as it got pretty slow after 8-9pm, we would do things like play frisbee, nerf guns, and stuff like that. well one night we were playing with our nerf guns, and then a guy in a suit walked through a hallway entrance and one of MY nerf gun arrows hit him on the shoulder. right behind him were 3 other people in suits. he apologized to them, all the "toys" disappeared from view, he parked them in a conference room, then came back out to see me. turns out, he was the CEO/Owner of the company, and he was in talks to sell the company to AOL which is who the 3 other people in suits were. he told me, if they hadnt been there, he would have gone to his office and gotten his nerf gun and join in on the fun, but unfortunately he had to send me home and fire me. he would give me a great recommendation to my next job though.
Embarrassing story… here goes: I was talking with my boss one day, and he had a fairly long grey hair on his black shirt. Thinking I was being kind to keep him looking sharp, I reached out and pulled the hair. Much to my surprise and horror I was met with a small amount of resistance from the hair, and my boss gave a quick “ouch.” Turns out it was one of his chest hairs (still attached) that had worked its way through his shirt. I wanted to die.
Most embarrassing story: It was my first week as an electricians apprentice and we were doing some residential rough-in. There was an annoying can light right above a staircase and far enough to the side that it was about 20 feet off the ground. The whole time the journeyman had told me “we’ll deal with it later”, but I didn’t want to wait, wanted to show that I was a “go getter” or whatever. So I jerryrigged a bunch of boards on the stairs and a 6 foot ladder and put a 8 foot ladder on those so I could reach the light. I fell flat on my back, right as the master electrician was walking into the house, and I hadn’t met him yet. Somehow I was completely fine minus a scratch on my elbow, and I stood up and shook his hand. I still get teased about it by him
Most embarrassing story: Had a long distance friend over for a weekend. It was our first face to face meeting as well and young me already had a crush on him. As I was just 17 or 18 I still lived with my parents and two brothers, so dinner was full table. We had a lot of fun! Unfortunately some food didn't sit well with me and I had to flee to the toilet.. As they were still loudly discussing and laughing I thought I could cautiously relieve myself without anyone hearing anything.. as I relaxed... they seemed to stop for a breather or something... and I, unable to stop at this point, ripped out a fart as loud as I had NEVER before... and the laughter was right back, even louder. Fortunately I'm a girl that's not embarrassed by having basic body functions. So I put on my bravest face and tried to laugh with them. Seeming to be cool with it impressed my crush.. so success? And that is also the only reason, why I'm not dying inside, whenever I think about it 😁
Love hearing about the C-channels. I added unistrut to my large dining room table that I made in the same way you did. Worked like a charm. I've never seen anyone else do that before.
Hey Cam, I love your work and your channel. I feel like I should let you know that Better Help isn't the company they say they are: despite promises to users to keep the questionnaire confidential, they have instead been selling those deeply personal answers to companies who would then market things to take advantage of the vulnerabilities their clients trusted them with. Trust is a huge thing with a therapist, and they this company is saying they can be trusted and then breaking that trust in the worst way possible is reprehensible to say the least. I'm not trying to say you should drop them as a sponsor, but I just wanted to put out there that they may not be the best people to trust.
Alright Cam. I'll give you an embarrassing story, I'll go harass Foureyes in echange, please listen - betterhelp is NOT a good company. They've settled lawsuits and paid fines for violating patients privacy, and people in the LGBTQ community have been outed to loved ones by therapists who broke confidentiality. I get having to pay the bills, but please there are better sponsors. I was taking martial arts when I was 20, and during my black belt exam, in front of my senseis, the girl I liked, the friends I had in class, I split my pants doing a high kick. I didn't have a replacement pair, and they didn't have one in my size (thick legs) so I ended up putting on a brave face and finishing the test. As my sensei said "conditions in the real world are rarely perfect either."
I love the spider base. You mentioned you want to do it in wood. I just started a commercial shop and I am going to make that base in black walnut. I love your builds. Great job.
My most embarrassing thing: I was in job corps and we were required to take a communication class and I was never one for public speaking so naturally I didn't want to take the class. One day, we were given an assignment where we were assigned a job title and we had to make a presentation to the class about our "jobs". My assigned job was "Rocky Mountain Oyster Farmer" and at this time....I had no idea what rocky mountain oysters actually were. I thought they were legit shellfish. So there I am....a fear of public speaking, telling this entire class about my job and how much I love farming and eating these oysters. People were laughing and I'm pretty sure the teacher had his hand covering his face. I thought it went well and did a pretty good job at the presentation. The embarrassment hit when someone waited until after talked up this impromptu job to ask me if I knew what those oysters were and then informed me what they were. I felt the tone of red that my face turned.
@@argylemanni280 I don't think taking ONE problematic sponsorship is enough to oust the channel from your recommended. I think the fact that 60% of the comments reprimanding him for taking it is probably enough lol

Most embarrassing story: I moved into my new house and my parents had this giant tub in there bathroom and a tv mounted to the wall. My mom would sometimes allow me to take a bath in it, and on this particular time I was really hooked on this show I don’t remember what it was but I was so intrigued. That was when I had to use the restroom now the toilet was just a few feet way, but I could not talk my eyes off the tv. I pooped in the bathtub and proceeded to watch my show unbothered. As time passed my mom walked in and found me sitting in brown water. She was so mad I had to clean the tube and was never allowed to take another bath in her tube. I was 6. 😳😅
@BlacktailStudio my dad who was in the back, and I look up, only to make eye contact with a row of girls from my sister dorm (this was during my college days), and they all laughed at me.
Many, many years ago, when I was first starting my journey into medicine, I was working at a hospital as an orderly. I walked into a room late one afternoon and I saw a man that was supposed to be in the first bed, on the floor, on his hands and knees scurrying about the floor with his rear end toward the bed. Instinctively, I thought he dropped something, and I got down on my hands and knees, and I started looking around on the floor and under the bed. I asked him "did you drop something?" "can I help you find something?" the man looked at me and actually tapped me on my head and he said sternly "get out of my way, I'm trying to get to the bathroom!!" and as I move to the side, he scurried across the floor toward the bathroom... he had no legs 🫣
Most embarrassing moment: When I was in my mid-20's I took a girl I was dating at the time out for a bite to eat at a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, it was raining that afternoon so we decided to get the food to go and head back to her place where it was dry and comfortable. Well, I started telling the girl who was taking my order what we wanted and to be cute and win a few points I told the girl that it was for "my name" and...for whatever reason I got lost in the girl's eyes and blanked when it came to my date's name. I just stared at the the girl and she blushed, I totally blanked and I guess my date took offense to this and stormed out of the restaurant and of course...there were a bunch of guys in construction on their lunch break watching the whole thing, they, in unison started laughing themselves to tears. By the time I paid for the food, she somehow caught a cab and was gone. Needless to say, we were no longer dating a couple hours later. Their laughter still haunts me...
You dodged a bullet there. I can't imagine being so upset by something so minor. That's a good time for her to make a joke and fill in random names, or cute nicknames.
My most embarrassing moment had to be the brain incident. In 2020 I had 5 brain surgeries to attempt to remove a tumor. During my 4th on I believe was in April I had some complications of my brain swelling. Needless to say I wasn't going anywhere, and it was Covid so no visitors. Well we get a late April snow and the wife thought it would be a funny joke to take a picture of it and tell me it was Oct. 2020. I instantly thought they had kept me all year and began removing my IVs and attempting to rip things out that I didn't know had a balloon in them. I don't remember much after that. The next day I wake up and the nurse informed me that I had to be restrained with mittens and belted to the bed and then sedated. I asked how bad was it and without hesitation he looked at me and said "You were an absolute nightmare, are you going to keep being a problem?" I'm never letting my wife live that one down.
I love your videos dude, but I'm still SHOCKED that you haven't lost a toe yet with how often you go into your shop with sandals. Granted, all of your stuff looks super secured in place, but it still makes me nervous every time lol

That’s still better than I could do!
I've watched woodworking videos since I was a kid and this is by far one of the most beautiful expressions of walnut I've ever seen. The wood guys' secret stash is on point!
I've raised the grain with water many times, but never knew it can help remove saw/sander marks. Great tip, thanks!
Ya, happened by accident once when I couldn’t sand out saw marks.
I watched this channel when I was still in my country, now I live in the USA and continue to watch it.

Maybe because it's a sign of respect rather than just a greeting?

didnt better help have a massive scandal not too long ago, unless they have actually improved isnt that a dodgey sponsor..
So with all the frantic cooking going on that I am responsible for combined with her hysterics, I yell out in front of everybody "ITS F***ING MINERAL OIL!" Everybody is now looking at me and her and she asks "Why the f*** do you have mineral oil in a hand soap bottle in your shower?" to which I reply "Why do you think I have something like that in the shower?"
Now, everyone is looking at me and laughing since I basically just admitted to everyone that I have a bottle of lube in the shower for doing the deed. And my sister had just covered her very young 7 month old son in lube. Worst birthday ever.
That’s fantastic 😂

Honestly impressed because this is the first time I've seen Cam with a straight-up ad. betterhelp has got to have deep pockets😂
Excelente trabajo. Tienes mucha creatividad y sabes tener un cuidado único con los detalles. Felicidades a ti y tu familia.
I didn’t think about this being a girl telling the story. So funny 😂
That would've been epic if you were a guy.
I have so many like that i cant count! I feel your frustration :)
PS- Im sure you'd have a beautiful child

This might be an underrated part of your videos, but I appreciate how candid you are about how much everything costs. A lot of people are very dodgy about costs, but it’s nice to have some perspective on what actually goes into making these projects happen
Why i feel this most honest and humble woodworking , reaching millions subs still coming out with all details . Great job buddy Im your student here ☺️
"Some of you. Probably still won't be happy," It is the most blunt and comical thing you had said during the video. You always make great products with a story behind every piece of furniture.
I love your authenticity.
Cam, you don’t need the Betterhelp sponsorship money. If you do something is terribly wrong with the channel!
If you are inferring I don’t actually have a sponsorship and just did this for comment engagement… I have no comment.
@@BlacktailStudioIf you read this and thought that the person above was trying to insult you by implying that this company is too good to be giving you money, then I'm pretty sure that nobody has no further comment.

@@BlacktailStudiothe above comment was not facetious. It’s disappointing to see you accepting BetterHelp as a sponsor.
Their business practices are harmful to their patients. Their therapists are not appropriately screened or regulated, and there have been several lawsuits about malpractice and selling patient data.
You can absolutely get better sponsors than BetterHelp is.
Most people, even creators, just don't know about the problems they had.
Better help more like... shittier help or something idk
Better Crap.
These are some of the best videos made. The commentary it hilarious and the craftsmanship is simply stunning.
Wow, gorgeous end result! The chatoyancy makes the whole table appear to be made of tigers eye gemstone.. so pretty!

So I guess this video sponsor might have something for you 😜.
@@thenewexeptorhell no 😂
That’s absolutely brutal. Also, the “cold” line is so tired. I’m offended from a comedy standpoint as much as a malpractice one.
At 17?!
Not the better help sponsorship 💀
How much are they paying these UA-camrs, that not even Cam turned them down? He’s usually pretty good about sponsorships :(
I use sponsorblock because of this, He earned himself a dislike for this one.
Yeah they actually suck ass
Probably made the vid months ago though to be fair
He probably sees therapy as something good. The problem with this sponsor is that they underpay therapists. They get newly licensed folks who need experience and both underpay and overwork them. It creates high turnover as their therapists get the experience they need and move on to more traditional routes.
Thanks Man! We all needed the humor and the true professionalism. Great content.

The larger table looks absolutely fantastic Cam, you are incredible.
Like all of your projects, those are absolutely beautiful. I love the finish and grain on that wood. I only wish I could afford one of your tables.
Embarrassing story… here goes:
I was talking with my boss one day, and he had a fairly long grey hair on his black shirt.
LOL, I get those too. Stupid 2 - 3" gray hairs that pop out of my collar. I'm only 44 darn it!
😆😆😆
I really love how you get those velvety fold look in the wood. Its ridiculously gorgeous...
I'm not trying to say you should drop them as a sponsor, but I just wanted to put out there that they may not be the best people to trust.
ditch better help, please. They are a terrible company with a terrible history.
It's admirable that you are willing to make yourself vulnerable.
I love the spider base. You mentioned you want to do it in wood. I just started a commercial shop and I am going to make that base in black walnut. I love your builds. Great job.
My most embarrassing thing:
I was in job corps and we were required to take a communication class and I was never one for public speaking so naturally I didn't want to take the class.
I mean, what were you supposed to do? That's what you were assigned. Just sounds like you dealt with it professionally to me.

@@FriedNoodleeIt's not. For me it's when the channel completely ignores the comments and doesn't offer their resoning beyond a "deal with it" attitude. That's when I unsubscribe because not only did they take a sponsor disliked by many, by supported the sponsor via doubling down with silence.
Love the channel, and I know how you like to answer mean comments in a sarcastic way. Love that. However, I see you are answering people here in the comments that are informing you that you just promoted a scam. I was 6. 😳😅
Most embarassing story: I once performed a jazz show, with my fly down, wearing all black, with red underwear, at centerstage.
That could be your signature move going forward

😮
That's wild😂
That was as great of a story as it is embarrassing lol Sorry you had to go through that!
The way those two tables line up is awesome!
