Starting from 1:11 and slow it down to .25x, you can tell he already has the solved cubes in the container and blocks off the bottom so that they don’t fall. Then he just pushes the mixed cubes behind the table. Should use better angles!
The first time he did this on Asia's got Tallent still makes me feel like I'm watching actual magic. This was just missing something.
Exactly. He should have stuck with that exact same routine. I guess he was nervous, too. I feel sorry for the guy. What he does is still amazing.

I think it's funny that Simon is so quickly bored with card tricks and close up magic yet never seems to get bored with little kids and singers with sympathy stories

I love Eric, and I always get thrilled by each of his acts. But I don't know why this performance didn't bring me goosebumps, and was kind of boring, although it was so technical and amazing: Maybe lack of story, proper background music, and lack of dynamics. Just not good presentation of his genius.

It was simply a poor performance. There were parts where the public can easily see what he actually did, where he is taking or putting the cubes.
@@aveckano29 that particular fault wasn't that much serious. It happens time to time.He also made a proper comeback there. But I couldn't enjoy the flow of his performance.
Agreed. Usually his magic was poetic but this time it's missing that factor. His final presentation in Asia's Got Talent was so good it made me believe in magic. I remember Mat Franco also messed up a bit but his presentation was amazing the audience could accept it. Shin Lim also made a mistake in one of talk shows he was invited (I don't remember which talk show was it), but he recovered with his charisma & showmanship.

Eric is just as great as shin lim but shin's energy personality and interaction with the fans is what sets him apart from Eric.
I think he put the bar too high for his first performance, so people start to expecting something more from him, that's why they feel a bit dissapointed with this performance.

I agree with Simon. He messed up that Rubik's cube shake up bit, but recovered well. Did get boring after a while, not to say he isn't great, it's just unfortunate that we already had a great close up magician last year.

Monkeywithagunn So what if a magician already won last year. They can win again. You forget that the first 6-7 seasons were all won by mostly singers.
2:25 I could literally see that he picked up the cubes with the cups and throws them behind the desk. Not so impressed. By the way, those cubes are magnetic and by shaking them they will resolve themselves.

I agree Eric maybe didnt have a good presentation in this one but the closeup argument just isnt working for me here just look at shin lim he won with closeup magic. Simons argument is always the same and that bores me not the closeup stuff
Simon probably saw Asia's Got Talent, haha... the same reason why they kicked out Adem Show. Those guys were doing the same things on Asia's got talent.

Try Me I agree and I think presentation is what Eric needs to work on. He definitely has the skill but needs to present it in a more show and stage like presentation.
He's getting his rubiks cubes from under the table 0:31 0:40, and at 1:11 there was already a solved one, it came out by accident, and at 2:25 he switched the regular rubiks cube with the chocolate one

glad he still made it through despite all the mistakes here. He's really talented, and if you watch his version of this trick on asias got talent, its much better performed and done. Hopefully he doesnt have those messups again, either way, truly talented for him to recover and keep his compsure despite some shaky slight of hand moves, seemed like he was nervous or hadn't practiced as much as he should've leading up to this. Dudes still crazy talented though and its a great trick when performed flawlessly as he did in Asias got talent; hope he has a chance at the win this year and the rest of his performances are flawless

He is very humble..almost so much that it is confused with not confident. His magic was so much cleaner than the other guys... The other magic preformance tonight was more of a math trick.
And his involved just sneaking in cubes from behind the table that too not in a subtle way..sad to see that he wasn't flawless this time...who otherwise presents really well

When he covers the cubes with his hand then the other cubes will be rotated on the board. The new cubes are not side by side and their cubes are blue and red! 😎
This act was better on Asia's Got Talent. Why didn't he just stick with the same act rather than changing it up a little..that's why he messed up. And yes he needs to work on his stage presentation plenty more.
Simon is clueless to how good his magic truly is. It doesn’t always need a wow factor. This is much better than what he did originally. Also this Dom guy is all about performance and “wow” factor but nobody realizes that what he did was not magic. It was literally a math algorithm. If you pointed at any person no matter what it would land on tape face. And cool he brought him there but wtf is the deal? He knew already what you’d choose because you didn’t choose it!!!

HOW IS HE MAKING a big rubiks cube appear from tiny bits of candy At 1:37, and make it turn back at 2:32? is he using a HOLOGRAM somehow that is doing this by digital means controlled by someone off stage using a remote?. I think I know how he changes the color of the cube, someone off stage using a remote maby? Does PENN AND TELLER know exactly other than they said magicians are using high tech tricks now a days.
Give the guy a break he’s working with chocolate, the stage lights are making them melt , and again Howie looks at his boyfriend Simon to see how he should react , and Simon looks at Howie and explains why he didn’t like it , comeon simon you may be bored ,, but crowd wasn’t

Was unimpressed. Could i do it, not in a million years, but unlike Lim I can SEE when he is using distraction to move his hands below the table and do his swaps, adds etc. Again - not a magician.. but if i can figure it out... then there is something not quite clicking. He Is NTO as good a Shin, and i personally am not happy that he vocally positioned himself as some audience novice when he was a 2018 world champion AND winner of asia's got talent. I sincerely hope he steps up his game.

I don’t think anyone understands what “Talent” means. Nor does anyone understand what close up magic is. I think close up magic demonstrated a lot of talent considering the time and effort put into sleight of hand. Also, watching magic online has more of an advantage since you can replay back as many times. Chill with the comments
Also, it requires a lot of time and practice to come up with new tricks. Who cares if he performed the same act as on Asia’s Got Talent. Shin Lim performed the same tricks on Champions, so why is this more bashed on? Eric Chien has been so successful, so those who clearly don’t understand magic don’t have the right to determine if he’s a good magician
And when people keep trying to expose his tricks, it’s obviously easier since you can just replay the video back. People say it’s “fake” but of course magic isn’t real. It’s a trick. But the trick itself and the sleight of hand put into the trick is true talent
