    So if a Borg assimilated a Dalek, would it just run into a feedback loop error where it can't reconcile "EXTERMINATE" and "ASSIMILATE" between each other?

    • @triforceofcourage100
      @triforceofcourage100 4 роки тому +29

      JackgarPrime the borg likely wouldn’t be able to as there’s just too little to assimilate not to mention the second the Daleks felt them attempt to assimilate their technology they would self destruct to prevent it from happening not to mention a swarm of dalek saucers could easily obliterate any borg cube far before they send the data back on how to resist and since the daleks are geniuses they could easily hack the Collective take any useful information and tech and then order the borg as a collective to self destruct if the Cybermen can take control of the Collective the daleks would easily be able to do the same

    • @UGNAvalon
      @UGNAvalon 3 роки тому +12

      The Borg would also likely focus solely on assimilating Dalek technology while ignoring the mutants themselves. Tho the regenerative capabilities would likely be intriguing for the Collective to study (why use regeneration alcoves when the drones are now functionally immortal?). Also, the Borg themselves “exterminate” any cultural aspects seen as “irrelevant” to their utilitarian goals, so ironically, Dalek emotion/hatred would likely be among the first things discarded by the Collective upon assimilation.

    The name Dalek isn't paradoxically affected by The Doctor. In Genesis, Gharman says to the Doc: "You used that word earlier, it had never been heard before. And yet only an hour ago Davros announced that henceforth his Mk III Travel Machine would be referred to as a Dalek."
    There it is then. Named by Davros within the TV show.

    • @TheWhovinerd-1963
      @TheWhovinerd-1963 2 роки тому +4

      The actual reasoning for why davros named them ‘Daleks’ is because there was another civilisation on Skaro thousands of years ago lost to time known as the Dals. Davros discovered many of their ancient texts and he found the word Dalek which in the language of the Dals translates to Gods. Davros believed in order to finally end the war he must achieve it through absolute power, destruction and no pity. It has also been revealed canonically that Davros used Thal prisoners for his dalek experiments. Xx

I assumed "Above and beyond the Emporer himself" meant they had the capacity to think of things even the Emperor couldn't have thought of. Great video and surprised it's so up to date. Have you ever considered going through lineages of archetype/ideas? You can probably draw a line back to War of the World's Martians with the Daleks since they are both war obsessed relatively frail tentacled creatures in war machines with differences inspired by the era in which they were created in: Imperialism/Militarism with the Martians and Fascism/Racism with the Daleks. Similar things could be done with lost evolved dinosaur-person races eg Doctor Who's Silurians, Star Trek's Voth, Aritsune Toyota's Hot Blooded Dinosaurs, D&D's Saurial, Land of the Lost's Sleestak, Clan Ru from the Trek novel First Frontier, etc.

    Would a Dalek scientist get any additional respect from it's peers if it made a better firearm ?

    Kaled is not pronounced "kay-led".....it was pronounced in Genesis of the Daleks as"kar-led"..... same as "dar-lek".
    Ace, companion of the 7th Doctor initially made a similar mistake in calling the daleks "day-leks".....so you're in good company! lol
    Quite surprised that you made no mention of the original red dalek "Zeg", who challenged the leadership of the golden Emperor in The Dalek Chronicles/TV21 comic in the 1960's.
    The Imperial Guard (originally called "Black Leader Daleks"in Evil of the Daleks) were not "black cased".... they only had black domes.
    The gold and black dalek you have pictured as one version of the Dalek Supreme, is in fact only a member of the Supreme Council.

    One small observation. In your list of Dalek emperors you overlooked Davros (remembrance of the Daleks). Plus you made no reference to the God of all Daleks (parting of the ways). You also mentioned it was Davros with the Second Dr who introduced the Human Factor? Was that a retcon? As I was under the impression it was the Dalek Emperor not Davros.
    The origin of the name Dal is a bit of a weird one. In The Mutants, it is specifically stated the Daleks evolved from the Dal, which was retconned in Genesis of the Daleks to be the Kaleds instead. Perhaps in ancillary media they clarified this inconsistency, but it has never been officially addressed in a main TV episode. My reading was that Dal referred to a subset of Kaled, such as the scientific elite, rather than being a separate race.

      It could be asserted that the Daleks only ever became a problem because of The Doctor, and that if he had never appeared on Skaro that first time, they would have stayed in their city and died out, thinking they were the best and only life in the universe. Also, the original Daleks may have been evolved Dals, but those were done in early in the Time Lords' incursions into their history, and the Kaleds could have been just a branch of the Thals that split off once there was no Dals to fight with. Each incursion got dicier and more complex until the Time Lords resorted to extorting The Doctor into destroying the new Daleks in Genesis of the Daleks, but probably before that they had tried to stop them by blowing up the lab where early research was being done, which created Davros. Just speculation, but in the Tyler-verse, where there had been no Doctor, perhaps there were no Daleks.

    Now it came to me could Daleks be an inspiration for Ultrons in TMNT universe?

    • @boobah5643
      @boobah5643 4 роки тому +1

      Maybe. But the basic idea of a brain alien in an exoskeleton isn't even remotely original to the Daleks, and its entirely possible Eastman and Laird came up with the Utroms independently.
      On the other hand, it seems pretty clear that the Utroms were very intentionally a subversion of a few alien invasion tropes, including some that are more-or-less personified by the Daleks.
      Of course, the Nickelodeon series flips that right back with the Kaang, so...

    I love your work on the dalek government but you forgot few things one, there were not just 2 daleks in the dalek council there are over 2,000 of them plus every 3,000 years the current emperor dalek either dies or is placed in suspend animation and the high ranking supreme dalek would become the emperor dalek and 2nd the dalek prime is below the emperor and both golden and city r both the same the golden emperor dalek was the first dalek that shot davros and proclaimed it as emperor cause the emperor dalek had a better cassing then standard dalek. "the original Dalek was built a new casing, made of Flidor gold, quartz and Arkellis flower sap. The first Dalek Emperor was now in command." (COMIC: Invasion of the Daleks).

    Weren't the sexy green species of aliens discovered in Lost in Space especially when Doctor Zachery Smith became obsessed by them in The Green Dimensions? This predates both Star Wars and Star Trek.

    Kah-led. If it were Kayled as you pronounce it, it would suggest Daleks would be called Day-leks. Plus I’ve never heard it pronounced Kayled anywhere in cannon. I’m happy to be wrong here, and I don’t want to appear rude (sorry if I do!), but I do think you could be wrong here.

    The Borg would out number the dalek fleet at full strength but one darlek with full sheilds would possibly take down a single cube the Borg do posses some technology but the daleks are cruel and very dangerous it would make a great film Borg vs dalek
