DigginLife21Sir, I apologize that I don't know your proper name. I'm trying to learn about correcting my 21 year old 1/3 mile gravel/red clay curvey, hilly, hardwood forest driveway with washboard sections and water collection holders that need some long overdue attention. I live in NGA way out of your circle, but I just wanted you to know how much I relate and appreciate your straight up, hard working, honest "the way you see it and figure it out" attitude that caps your apparent skills and solutions to bring a fine finish to the job end. I say this because I enjoy and respect that you put forth the extra effort to create and share these videos for all of us to learn from. If you just lived a little bit closer, I have a sweet spot in the hardwoods that needs some road work and you Sir would be my first call for help. Thank you for what you are doing for those that need help to start the process. Best, Dave Mayne Colbert GA
Great job man 😁👍and I'll say this again, thanks for putting in all the effort to show us everything involved like pricing and tips and tricks and then editing them and uploading, great quality too. I started my new job there in the new year and guess what.....we're back in lockdown (Ireland btw), I'm starting to lose faith in everything now, had a massive fight with my girlfriend and we're on a "break" now, I can't talk to my friends about because they will just take the piss out me ha. You're videos help more than just explaining what's going on in them but, they're an escape from life. Anyway sorry for rambling, and the talk about my situation (No one to talk to in real life lol) I know it's not place for it.
Where I live (Fairbanks Alaska), 85% of driveways are gravel (D1 3/4 inch minus basalt) so I certainty appreciate EVERY video you do on fixing gravel driveways. Great pointers... Thank you Todd.
I’m digging your tractor. Seems like you stay busy with it. I’m selling firewood as a side hustle and looking to expand. A tractor would help me skid to a deck rather than cutting where the tree falls so would be more productive. But I feel with a skid loader I could get more types of jobs. But seeing this video makes me think I could get some work for a tractor too!!
Question? What are the best pieces of equipment you think I should have to start in this business, around here it's mostly driveway covering that needs replacing ( old metal ones ) ??
GOOD DAY Todd 😉. You must be close to Everything Attachments because you sound similar, well to me lol. I like the guys at Everything Attachments Ted tests their stuff real well! Thanks for the upload you brighten my days which is great because Im feelin real down at the moment, the weather in the UK is awful !
What's that power inverter you're running? I was thinking of running a wall plug heater in my pickup, but the inverters I was looking at in harbor freight didn't seem like they could handle it ( or maybe I didn't want to pay for the largest one; I don't remember 😂 ).
I think the hardest part for guys wanting to learn and start with customers is pricing. You for sure seem to want to educate and teach new operators the skills they need. That being said how do you charge for a job like this? Is there an hourly rate you need to make on top of the gravel to cover your equipment and fuel expenses and profit? How does one calculate this based on their particular overhead? A guy with new equipment and expensive truck registration will need to get more than a guy with older paid for equipment etc.. Any thoughts on this?
Hi from Portugal Nice work and video! Go there in a few days to show how it's holding up. It's just a suggestion(I've been seeing camarata lol) As always all the best
How much more difficult would it be if you did not have an air gate on your dump truck? Not so much? Also, 8tons is 16,000 lbs. you stated you would weigh around 37, 000lbs with the last load that was used to compact the material. Wilbur only weighs 21,000lbs?
What do you do when there are lots of leaves on the road? In Florida we have pine needles and they bunch up in the box blade. Any tricks other than rake or blow them off before starting?
Well , I agree with everything you did except, you didn't roll the rock . It's not going to stay in place unless you hammer it in . Most important to do on this kind of incline .Water will move it , cars will tear it up going around the radius at the top of the hill .
That single axle dump at 36-38000 lbs packed that crusher down better than the average roller. And better than a car. Even after a smooth steel roller, the turning cars will eventually kick out the top rocks and water will do what water does. Maintenance is where it's at 👍🏼
youd be so much happier and more efficient if you could afford a small dozer.. this job would only take an hour and probably wouldnt need to add more rock... maybe a skiff
Going back to watch these videos really shows your knowledge on driveways.... the Professor!
Thanks my brother
@@DigginLife21 I enjoy your commentary and the way you breakdown your steps to complete the projects!

I love that kubota and the hydraulic box blade.

Thank you for the kind words my friend 🙏🏻
Good video. Enjoyed it.
Good Job Todd. Driveway shaped right up
I bought a 1.5t roller for cheap. I'd say its 50% function/50% appearance. Customers LOVE the smooth look!
I watch almost all of the ones u do. Thanks for the video. Driveway looked great.
That’s a real neat job there Todd.👍
Nice footage. Driveway looks good. 🇺🇸
Do you use the tractor instead of a track loader so your cost per hour is less or do you prefer a tractor for driveway jobs?

You can do it!
Hello Todd, nice job, and good talk on what you was going to do. To drive. I keep them coming
Great to see ya Martyn🙏🏻
I'm learning alot. Thanks for the awsome content.
'Do the best you can' is a frequent response I seem to get also, as long as it falls inside the budget.. LOL
That tractor works good !
Can do a lot with a tractor.

Cool 😎
Todd do y’all call crusher run road bond? We have started using a lot of recycled concrete for base
Yep
Have you had experience with the EA land plane? Any thoughts box blade vs land plane with ripper shanks?
Ive never used a land plane
Is road bond the same thing as crusher run?
Yes
Hey Todd do you ever think you would add skid steer to your fleet ?
Maybe some day
Or maybe a walk behind skid. It can travel in the Volvo bucket 😎
What do you do when there are lots of leaves on the road? In Florida we have pine needles and they bunch up in the box blade. Any tricks other than rake or blow them off before starting?
Try renting a power rake for your setup sometimes called a Harley rake. They can recover buried gravel and separate thatch and organic debris quickly
York rake
Ok so i gotta ask. Gravel driveway, hillside,s curves while going downhill and rock vains going across slopes to inside of all s curves
The question?
What size is your dump truck?
I carry 8-9 tons on it
Do you have a hydraulic tilt on your tractor
Yep
@@DigginLife21 10-4 I got to get me one put on my tractor

YOUNG MAN ,
DRIVEWAY OR ROAD HILL NEVER NEED A CROWN 9 9 % WATER GO DOWN HILL
Needs crown more than anywhere else. It's where you get deep water trenches in the tire tracks. What are you talking about?
