Since day 1 this song came out I’ve been hooked on DARKO his vocal range is insane from his Chelsea grin sound to the DARKO sound is just wicked and this song has definitely been my number one favorite by this band so far and definitely Recreant for Chelsea Grin

Tom's Vocals are just soo clean. Especially live he is just an absolute beast of a vocalist.

Buster from Humanity's Last Breath does the same thing with a baritone. Check out some of his playthroughs
a lot of lefty's do that because the amount of left handed guitars is very limmited.
He is also playing it upside down. Not sure if you noticed. All the chuggish stuff is done on one or two strings..and notice the guitar is upside down. The highs and everything is played upside down ...that to me is just crazy..he is literally playing inverted and lefty. Like wtf that is sick and i want to try that myself.

Tom Barber protip: learn how to do Wim Hoff breathing. It's what he does and he's got some insane breath. Also, for that one really long "You" before the last chorus, try to make sort of a Peewee Herman sort of "Hey hey!" noise, but make it screamy. Advice straight from him, haha.

@@Thisnotvene Either one would be dope af, haha. Check out Chris Liepe, he's a vocal coach on UA-cam that teaches a lot of styles. His how to scream technique is VERY similar to Spencer's and he's got a lot of tips and advice for getting his more nasal style of tone. Highly recommend.

This was great! I like Tom Barber. I know him more from the first two Lorna Shore albums though.
That's where I found him. He's great in Chelsea grin but Lorna shore was best off with him
He makes every band he's in better.
I enjoyed Tom's vocals for Lorna Shore, yet I felt he either chose to or wasn't able to experiment with his range. As with Chelsea Grin I feel he really went hard on expanding his vocal ability, which I enjoy more personally. Honestly I didn't believe it was Tom at first until I heard his lows on a CG track and had to look it up lol

So, my fun-fact claim to fame about Tom: My old band used to play shows with his first band, Lorna Shore years ago back in 2011-12 in NJ. Tom is...in my personal opinion...the best live vocalist I've ever heard. Every time I saw LS live I was just in awe of how insane his range was and I'm so happy to see all he has accomplished, hands down deserves it.

Screaming has been something I have ALWAYS wanted to do my entire life but I just never did it. I always played with my voice and I am told i have a great voice on a microphone! Tom Barber gives me SO much inspiration. I just came across your page and I am so excited. I am going to give this a legit shot! Thank you! Any tips?

You might really enjoy listening to Tallah's vocal videos. The vocalist (Justin Bonitz) is really crazy. Specifically either Overconfidence, Red Light, or Placenta. Helps that he usually shows a lot of neck and different methods.

Tom Barber became one of my favorite vocalists after this performance. Always loved him in Lorna, Chelsea Grin, everything he has done. This project is my favorite of his by far though.

I found Lorna on their first album and just fell in love with toms sound I don’t know what it is but he just has this special sound that you can always tell it’s him plus the odd groovy vibe he can always bring he’s got like gallop vocals and I just dig it man

For fucks sake Mark, I normally dislike pause reactors but goddam, your channel is my fave of all the reaction channels. I always learn so much. First and foremost, I will always be a death metal over deathcore guy and, The Almanac is on my top 10 list of best albums of the last 10 years so keep making that music, but man, if deathcore in 2021 isn't growing on me. My friend writes all the music for this (instruments) Josh (drummer of Emmure). How you take his writing is on you, but notice the Jemi Hendrix style playing with a 9str. Also he mainly is a drummer so hearing him slay guitar was even a shock to his friends. We're pretty sure hes been getting lessons from the other Josh from Emmure.

Look, I know you're probably gonna say "seek vocal coaching" and you're absolutely right, but I'm broke and can't afford it and when I get drunk I try my best to sound like Alex Terrible or CJ from Thy Art, and my throat bleeds and I have no idea what to do about it. You are probably the coolest individual I've seen in the metal community. Thank you for not being a deuche bag.
Yo just saw this! If you're legitimately getting blood when you're attempting to scream, I would 1000% suggest seeing an ENT. I go just for normal health checkups and its not bad at all. If, and only if, the doctor gives you the all clear, I would honestly start with clean singing in your case. There are a lot of great free resources for clean singing here on UA-cam. And finally, Alcohol and screaming are always a bad combo. There are of course outliers than can slam 12 beers and have no issue, but few of us are those outliers. Stay safe, take it slow, and see a doc :)
