when i got new fish they were stressed- for all of five minutes. as soon as i put food in there they were back to normal

Hi Luke. I'm a 15 year old from Pennsylvania! and I've been watching your videos for a while now. You have inspired me so much, and this video just topped it off for me. Once I heard about the petco sale, I decided IT WAS MY TIME TO SHINE, and I bought everything I needed for 2 fancy goldfish :D I'm very excited to get my set up. 5:52 I moved my 180 gallon tank by myself, despite having a previous back injury.
I learned the height of the U-Haul truck decks are the same height of the standard big tank stand height. Slid it on the truck, slid it back off onto the tank stand. Hope that helps with moving large tanks.

Poor little guy! ❤ Had a thought - what if you were to put him in very shallow water bout 2" (or enough to barely cover his dorsal and pectoral fins extended)?
Could that help him stay upright and maybe heal?
Also, it may be interesting to test the water from the shop's tanks.
BTW - I loved the little red head spot and red tail guy you got the other day. He was super cute and different!

Tbh the moment you showed us the red caps I knew imediately one of them was probably not doing all that great. You can clearly see on your previous video at (4:04) that one of them is active and exploring and the other one is like, just existing passively. I really wish the little one recovers, keep up the great work man!

I would recommend drip acclimating your fish from now on. I’m assuming your on well water and the pet store you went to was on city water. Best of luck!

As you acclimate them to the water temperature you should also adjust them to the water, like before you are putting them in your tank combine the waters

For my tank i use super naturals brown sand, i like having a bright river-bottom like sand for my tanks
Love your informative videos, I found out that when I acclimate my fish, I don't just float the bag, I put some of the new water in the bag as well, it seems to lower their stress levels, I know that it's probably not that right now but just a thought 😊

The same happened to one of our office goldfish some years ago. We found it floating around like that. The cctv footage showed that it was trapped between two air hoses.
Luke you could have put the fish in your water change tote rinsed the sand added the sand to the tank and moved the fish while it was filling.

Moving goldfish is a nightmare. I remember that when I was moving my fish from their 40g I to the 75g, one of them completely lost her ability to swim upright do to stress. Got better once she calmed down.
Mine jumped out of the bucket, and I wasn’t expecting it. Just heard a big “plop” on the floor. She’s alive and well 😅

Really hope the Oranda recovers, Luke. Last year I had to put down a baby blackmoor (cheap pet store..) because it was having the exact same swimming issues but sadly it never recovered no matter what I did, just kept floating on its side at the top, developed a huge sore on its side from it sticking out of the water all the time :( Was the first fish I ever had to put down and it was heartbreaking.
Do one vlog from the busy days? Even if it just clips from here and there, I would watch it 😊

It's sad. I've learned it comes with the low quality fish.They just have little resilience. Hopefully they make it. They're in the right hands to have best revival and recovery and survival chance

you can try putting him in a smaller bowl with an airstone, enough water to cover him.
usually do it when i spawn fry, and they have a hard time swimming, but i've come to respect "water pressure"
but he is at the top so who knows really what's causing it.

I have my betta fish and the first thing i do when i get it is put it in a cup and the water with it and i slowly put my water so that the fish can adapt and live with me, hope my advice can help you next time

Also question I have 5 comet gold fish there babys got 3-4 weeks ago I noticed the pass week or so three have been stressed/sleeping a lot the water is 74 degrees all males from my knowledge. I’ve been adding stress coat daily at this point and some only one is doing kinda better he comes up and eats but the pass three times I’ve tried to feed them they just don’t care and keep chilling by there plant

Ugh it is not looking good for the red cap. I’m hoping. Looks like a swim bladder issue. I’ve had one fantail in a similar situation. She was doubled over. She recovered but has always had a bizarre comportment.

Don't you have to place something like polystyrene sheets under a fish tank if it's on a hard surface? I had a fish tank crack on me because I didn't have some sort of buffer underneath it and I lost my fish.
