Yea hes a power server, I was taught also how to serve like that giving players only a second or less of time to prepare to return the ball back it is possible to do those serves if you have a good coach who can teach you how to do it..... You hit the ball well so the only thing I see that could improve is putting more penetration in your forehand crosscourt return instead of hitting the crosscourt all high and spinny with heavy spin because the problem with high heavy loopy spin is it sometimes falls short in the court (lacking the pronation) then the other guy can just step in and crush your spinny ball off the court so it only works if the ball always goes deep and has enough pronation. And it also allows their feet to have a holiday sitting in the middle of the court.. And high loopy balls gives them more time to recover. It may keep the ball deep but it gives them time to recover again after running around. As these guys are so fit that you play with that they only need just a couple of seconds of recovery time to bounce back their energies again to load up on the ball and then put you in trouble then you have to dig your way out of it. You already got the ball striking abilities to keep them continually on the run to wear these guys down over the alleys in the matches with your penetrating drives. I just want to see more pronation instead of less pronation when you do get into trouble with the ball. But I like what I see when you do get stuck in and play the match and start opening up the court with those crosscourts.
You're doing incredibly well; super committed and serious athlete. Very proud of you K. On top of all this you're still releasing videos. All the blessings my friend. M
Keep going! It's all part of the process. Seggerman was playing unreal tennis, the kind of tennis one plays when everything is going well and feeling right.
I know you were pro before but dude I watched videos of your old game and you REALLY saved your game and made yourself a very serious competitor. Better forehand, backhand, and serve. Crazy! You are one coach I would definitely pay to have lessons with. Great work, you are an inspiration for those of us who want to improve our games that there is still time to do so and it is possible!
hahah thank you. I think a lot of people just assume I play this way because of natural talent. Yes I have good hand eye but if you watch me in college or even when I was playing in 2018-19, I was a lot worse. Kept trying to evolve, finding the best way to play the game. At the end of the day, simplifying everything. It is paying off. Thanks for the kind words
I feel like he dominated the pace. Quick points gave him the edge as you couldn't dictate as much. Props though, keep the receipt and hopefully soon you can match up again. Vamos!! TMJ!
Thank you for sharing. Pro tennis is scarry. And it was nice of you to respond to suggestions. Recall listening to Roddick podcast that he got frustrated when people suggest taking Nadal's heavy topspin on the rise.
Looks like epic serving day for your opponent with 70% 1st serves. He would have been flying high on confidence hitting those nukes. Great vid - nice to hear your breakdown of match and positivity of things to work on.
Yooo Karue, I just wanted to let you know that that's the academy I train at! I would've loved to see you live, but I have some exams coming up. I'm glad you took the lose so well so you can keep it up. Jut st want to let you know that you have a fan in Morelos, Cuernavaca. Keep it up man!
Saw seggerman play a doubles a local money tournament in my hometown about a month ago and man's was not serving this good it's crazy how much improvement these guys can make in such a. Short amount of time
I don't know. Yeah, I know you wanted to win, but your game has progressed so much over the past year that you have a lot to be proud of. Looked like Ryan was on fire that day. Keep up the great work!
Yeah been there, sometimes the angle and kick is so good, you have to choose the bad and less bad option of taking it on the rise. Then you get body serves and bombs but at least the returns you get in you give him less time
Keep it up Karue! We believe in you! Btw I re-watched Federer’s 2017 Australian open and noticed he stood really close to the baseline when receiving serves. I’m guessing it could be similar mentality plus maybe hitting the ball earlier?
Hey Karue, I was here when the judge line was hit with the ball in the eye and I saw you a little bit in the party on Wednesday. I hope that you will come back again in Morelos!
Congratulations! Great progress! Keep wanting to see you play Tomic. You should blend with the Life on Tour Aussie guys, they’re putting out a great channel of Challenger life.
I will eventually. Just met Calum at these events. Gave him a couple of my old cameras that are collecting dust so they can make more content hahah great dudes!
Is the reason for why the draw of this challenger looked like a servebot convention because of the altitude??? It was such a crazy draw Maxime Cressy, Seggerman, Mphetshi Perricard. I swear the average serve speed at this tournment was like 130 mph.
great match i saw it on my phone, had the chance to be ballkid in acapukco, unfortunately not eith karue, but meet him in the stadium and take a photo he plays very good
I'm 5 10 and play tennis at high altitude in Johannesburg. Against really big servers, I have to stand way back on the fence. This positioning helps the ball's trajectory to drop, making it a little easier to make a clean hit. Trying to return fast serves at point blank range while they're still rising/increasing in speed is nearly impossible. By positioning yourself well, like Medvedev does, you can nullify tricky angles. Serve-and-volley tactics are rare these days. So, if you can give yourself enough time for a proper swing at the serve (rather than just lunge hopelessly at bullets), you give yourself a chance. Much better than watching balls whistle past you or bounce clean over your head. Try it next time. But stand right in the fence.
Cool stats at the ATP site. Your first serve percentage wins were great -- 80%!! The stats say it would've been a very different game if you got that same first serve in mo.
hey karue, thanks for alle the helpful videos and your tips. I am playing with a one handed backhand and i would love to hear your take about it. Do you feel a difference in the shot when you play against a one hander? Has it less or more spin? When is it the most dangerous and what is your approach playing against one handers compared to two handers? There is just very few good content about the one hander and i always trust you with your tennis insights because you actually play pro! maybe you could even make a video for the one hander? even that you are not playing with one, it would still be better than most of them out there! thanks and keep it up!
I wish they would play more challenger events where I live here in Canada. There is only one challenger event in my area and it is held in the fall indoors.
Bad luck on the draw, got a gunslinger. If you'd had a less intense opponent, you would have got your rhythm and acclimated to altitude. Ryan looks like an awesome player, no doubt will be moving up.
I have been following you since you came back, and in my opinion I just think you need more looks at bigger servers, and a little more speed. You have what it takes to be a top player in the world, you are going to have good days, and not so good days. But at least you are trying your best and you are doing great in my opinion. Keep up the great work my friend. You are an inspiration to many people including myself my friend. GOD Bless you and yours my friend.

Hey man, happens to anyone, mannarino got bageled 2 sets right after smashing shelton at AO. You still won games and fought best as you could, any player can lose to a big server on their good day. Get back on the horsey and continue to ride :))
It actually looked pretty encouraging. Win a couple of those keys points and avoid a few bad unforced errors and you're in it. One thing I would love to see is for you to slowly drop your string tension a little over time. I think you're cheating yourself out of a lot of power. I think you would get used to if you dropped it by a half pound every few months. I would love to see you at least 10 pounds lighter.
Tough match. Just think how effective a huge serve can be. If it allows you to hold serve every game, but you don't have great groundstrokes, you are guaranteed to win 1/2 the games and take your chances in the tiebreakers. I'm thinking of those 6' 10" type players who bombed their serves and would always end up in the tiebreakers. Of course, the greats can return those serves but not all the lower-ranked players.
haha your pronunciation of Cuernavaca was hilariously off the mark but good on you for trying. My uncle is a member at that club... kinda cool seeing pro's play on the courts I've gotten to play on
When watching this match on live feed, I thought Karue was a little too stubborn in adjusting the return position. When he had the return in play, he was controlling the rally.
@mytennisHQ how are you even supposed to return those serves at the start of the video? Do you have to try and read the racket face at contact or what??
Karue I am following you at Fit4Tennis and I might become pro....at...40....😂 just kidding although I am playing some USTA tournaments and lost 20 pounds in one year following your training! Keep it up man!
Just try more hitting heavy balls... put pressure on the opponent and take time away. Go to the net more often also. Pure Drive would hit some heavy balls
I think towards the second set 5 to 3. Why did you stay a little closer to the line. I think if you go a little behind the baseline. You would be back in the play and at least survive that second set. I think you did well. I just saw what you said for second serve. Yea it’s tough in challenger match. I’m also around your age. Thinking if I should go pro too lol. But money is the problem
Much respect for breaking the match down with that level of honesty. Dude had a big serve day and it is what it is. Loving your comeback journey and this was just one of those matchups that sucked at that moment. You'll be fine.
There's nothing wrong with losing provided you know that you gave 100%, and, in fact its an OPPOTUNITY to take something away for yourself to learn from. How do you think someone like Djokovick recovers from a loss? Ask yourself how you felt emotionally and energetically for example,..and be kind with yourself too. Was I pumped? Did I hit the ground running? Was I enthusiastic enough? Do I need more sleep and less media to rest my eyes? Do I need a castor oil pack? Should I try a Thyme & honey tea before a match so my lungs can draw in more air? Do my ankle tendons or lower back require a soothing oil rub? These are the things that are often neglected, rather than over analysing current form or strategy requirements which you have already mastered at a high level many times over..Its that conversation with your inner self that may be more beneficial allowing you to be more comfortable in your skin when you're in the heat of competition. Its just a thought, Karue.
You belong to that level no question. I want to see you playing him at sea level for revenge 😂. I saw some of your matches already in Challenger TV, it was nice to see you play on that channel. Soon is TennisTV 👍
I like your comment about where to return from. It helps me at my level and no matter what I like what you did because you tried both standing on the baseline, and a bit back (nothing crazy like medvedev, he has the wingspan for it you don't).
You were for such a short time in the city that it wasn't enough to learn the name😭 😜 (CuernaVACA, as in vaca=cow). Much success in your country these days!✌🏼
You singlehandedly destroyed that Tennis Older Brother 's dream with this video. Why? Because I said in the comments 4 years ago, go to US college. He said nope. You beat the kid 6/0. Personally, he wasted his time
Great match. There were some good hits and some mistakes . Keep participating, enjoy and share your experience. Maybe there will be a video about psychological self-support during matches and preparation?
Question for you Karue. I recently commented on a previous video about how I would love it if you were offered a WildCard into the Qualifiers for the US Open this year, and luckily you responded by saying exactly “hahah it is not unlikely it is impossible. I will earn the tournaments I play” so my question is, would you decline a potentially WildCard at the US Open and / or Decline a WildCard Invitation from any potential future ATP Tournaments?? I think you basically answered this question by saying I will earn the tournaments I play, and while I love that mindset, I think your level of play is good enough to compete and win matches at the ATP Level. Guys like Joao Fonseca in Brazil, Jakub Mensik in Doha, and Arthur Cazaux at the Australian Open, were all given Wildcards into those events and did phenomenally well, and that happened just within this year. So while I love yours grinder’s mindset, I would hate to see you turn down an opportunity like that, because all three of those guys are now extremely talked about and highly thought of players, and although your maybe not as young as those three are, I think your level of play is on par with them and the rest of the ATP to make a great run at an ATP Level Tournament, despite entering the draw as a Wildcard.
Happy to see you competing at a higher level. Keep it up. Question: Compared to a few years back when you quit playing, what's your level now? Are you better now than before or still catching up? Asking this because maturity helps. Believe you can be even better than before. I'm 51 and am playing better than my college days. Hitting harder and more accurately. Fitter and faster too. Was no slouch back then either.
Eh that's wasn't your real self. The pressure, altitude, and his serve warmed up from his recent doubles matches all came together against you. Keep at it. We just want to see you playing free and at your potential.
Can’t win them all but happy to be back at this level. And huge thank you to team MprooV. Without them, there is no Turning Pro At 30.
Speed kills.
Eh that's wasn't your real self. The pressure, altitude, and his serve warmed up from his recent doubles matches all came together against you. Keep at it. We just want to see you playing free and at your potential.
Just a huge server to deal with along with nerves, it’s totally understandable, you got it next time!!!!
