Thank you for going and visiting with Bill it made me feel good, I grew up in a body shop that my dad worked in and both my brothers worked there it truly was a family business a body man who had 50 years experience and a painter with 40 I knew there kids and they helped raise mine. It's businesses and folks like this that are the American dream
i enjoyed bills life travels instead of politicians speaking at seminars in our educational system we need folks like bill and his family speaking their life stories and the reality of how things work in real life
I have an extreme soft spot and love for square body trucks. My first truck when I turned 14 was an 87 Silverado 1/2 ton long bed 4 wheel drive in the same copper and tan color combo as the short bed with no front clip. I daily drove that truck all through high school and recently it’s decided to quit running but here soon it’ll have a big block. My dad has a K30 Dually with a 454 and SM465, we rebuilt the motor in it a couple times when I younger. I’m exited to see where this one goes, it’ll give me some motivation to get mine back on the road soon. You don’t see many family owned/operated businesses still thriving nowadays so props to them for keeping it up! Good content fellas!
My 1st pick-up was a 1978 Chevrolet K10, Fleetside, 8' bed. Driving home from work in the summer of '80 past a Chevy dealership I spotted that truck. Pulled in to check it out. It was brown, with a Fisher 8' snow plow and a 3" lift already done. The best part was it only had 12,500 miles and looked like it never did much plowing.
First pickup was a 91' Ranger. Green single cab short bed with a 3.0 auto. Fun times and good memories in it while in highschool. Now I'm in the Navy with an 83' Ford Ranger 2.3L 4x4 that I've been slowly restoring since I been in. If you guys do another squarebody, would love to see a 83-88' Ford Ranger. Not because I own one but I never see any big time content creators that involve restoring cars and trucks do these trucks. They're still dirt cheap as well.
I have a feeling ill be heading to the south western US to be buying my next project. I have the 383 but very few decent square bodies left in the rust belt.
Looking forward to the build whatever its going to be....i need motivation to start work on our 87 GMC Jimmy. its been sitting for years and its a project truck that I can never get time or money to work on
Worth mentioning is those cabs come off easily and are much easier to work on off the frame. (Diablo Auto Dismantling recip saw blades are gold!) That also lets you do cool stuff if you actually use the truck to do truck things, for example plopping a C-10 cab on a C-30 or 20 eight lug rolling chassis. C-20s are easy to turn into C-30 equivalents and unlike compete trucks bare frames with trashed cabs remain affordable. Noobs should note the big inline sixes make gobs of torque and easily outlive small block V8s. Six-banger trucks (three on the tree preferred to lower the price) sell for less but can do serious work. My bro towed a 40-pax International 1600 bus with his C-30 wrecker from Fayetteville NC to Sumter SC with his 292 six! Trucks can do much more than just crawl the malls while looking good.
It's a scoddale that makes me so happy cause I have a scoddale too mine is a 84 and it has no holes no bad rust nothing no knocking and it dose not squeek either it runs grate and its my highschool driver rn man I love squarebody trucks
Those square body Chevy & GMC models were produced from 1973 - 1991 except the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups were finished in 1987 & the one ton regular cab pickups & regular cab medium dutys were finished in 1989.
The square body pu in my yard is a 81 GMC dually with all the options, back then you had to order all the options that are on this truck, I'm confident that it's not a high production optioned truck. Lucky me.
Can't beat the good square body I myself have a 77 Silverado long bed two wheel drive 350 automatic transmission starts every time drives wonderful body has a lot of patina so it's not for sale but if y'all ever need another project truck this would make a good series or a good show,,, and by the way I live in Brentwood close by
I bought my Uncle's '87 R10 Scottsdale Longbed Squarebody. It used to be owned by an alcoholic Indian and he was a shit rigging MFer. My Uncle swapped the motor, but it didn't last long. The 7R400 wasn't doing well either. I was looking forward to doing an engine and transmission swap, until we had a major ice storm in 2020. The roof took the full force of a massive branch of the giant pecan tree. That roof is stout, even though the center sits about eight inches lower. Pulled to top edge of the rear window frame forward and the upper edges of both door frames are pulled in slightly. If the truck hadn't been sitting in that spot, that branch would've demolished the car port that housed my Uncle's '89 Pontiac 6000. That car would've been pancaked. So, now I'm looking at possibly doing a roof replacement because I don't really want to do a full cap swap. It all depends on which way will be cheaper. The only thing that's not original on the truck is the engine and transmission. I can get all the pieces to replace the entire upper section of the roof. You can get every body panel for the truck through aftermarket companies. Literally can build your own truck with aftermarket parts. I just need to do a cost analysis and see if I can find a really good cab to see which one will be cheaper.
An 85 Chevy long bed 4x4 square body. Hint: Period correct. If I had to guess, this truck will have a 6 inch suspension lift and 35-inch off-road tires, a chrome light bar in the bed, and a grille guard with Warn winch.
What channel are you guys on now days? I used to record you guys when you were on NBC sports. Hope to find you again. Been watching power nation since it was on TNN (the Nashville network).
Well it pays to be picky in this case. The first one you turned down because it had so much rust. That's nothing especially for square body. The early square bodies rusted well seems like as they went down the assembly line. But towards the end they must have done something to them cuz they weren't near as bad. Ben cab of a short bed, I've got two wheel drive short red frame for it. Use it to Dolly around my 70 Chevy body while the frame is getting coated and built. Friend of mine has like a 85 maybe 87 c20 two-wheel drive long bed fantastic body. It's complete two wheel drive truck. Well his widow is selling it for less than $3,000. Runs and drives. My 73 square body which has been stored in the family since 1984, as a factory bucket and console. It also had patch panels in it back then and was repainted. They call her California edition. Rather that's really true or not who knows. Besides the folks out there in California when they saw my plates ask me why I drove all the way out there to pick up a car. They went on and tell me I said several others they come out my way and that's where they buy their vehicles. Went on and tell me while they rest in California too. Don't forget your KC lights for period correct. I've hung on a set for 20 years. You can still find them out there. Are you going to build a TV series Fall Guy cloned / tribute truck? You did find a nice truck as far as body condition. Congrats and thank you for taking the time to make the episode / series on this truck.
cab Conners shit I fix worked a bus plant welding on 16 gauge metal for each window on a school bus yeah I'm going you don't want to do it well I'm already going business for bottom rust
That blue Chevy is to rusty dam most people who live in the rust belt say that's in great shape. I am in Canada we use alot of road salt so most the scrap yards around me don't have older car's. Some are from late 90s but mosley 2000s to badly damaged new one's.
How to spend your life savings should be the title.... Remember very few have a garage to do all this work and they have to do it out in the driveway in the elements....

Yeah I would have actually payed attention to this seminar
Great to see a square body long bed getting some love!!! Love them long beds
Square bodies are the best!!!! Excited for the build!!!!!

Get it done! You can do it man. I drove a 79 K10 in high school with a 350 & SM465. Been searching for years trying to find it & get it back.
Mr. Stovall is a class act as a man.

That truck is as old as I am, an old neighbor of mine had a 1986 GMC K3500 non dually, with a 454, I love square body GM trucks (73-87).
I have a feeling ill be heading to the south western US to be buying my next project. I have the 383 but very few decent square bodies left in the rust belt.
Can't wait to see the transformation. Was hoping that you two would have grabbed a K30 crew cab. That would've been a sick build
Can't wait to see the build. Make it like new again.
I had a really nice 1 owner, practically new 81 Chevy square body. I loved it! 292 6 cyl, auto, ps, air, pb, no dents and the bed looked brand new.
I got a 81 Chevy square body. Inline 6 250cc. I'm rebuilding it on my channel. Check it out.
Excited for this build, I have an 87 longbed I’m currently building
Love them GOOD OLE BOYS , GOD BLESS THEIR BUSINESS
Looking forward to the build whatever its going to be....i need motivation to start work on our 87 GMC Jimmy. its been sitting for years and its a project truck that I can never get time or money to work on
Non-stop grin. Loving these trucks! Y'all got some funny bones too! 🤣🤣🤣
Square bodies for LIFE!!!

You sir are amazing 🤩 when you go to heaven you will get your wings 😁
Fall guy truck build possibly? That would be cool 😎 👍
They better!
@@DerekL2005 Heck yeah!! It was the only one I could picture. Looking forward to seeing it take shape!!
Too bad you guys weren't up here in Canada. I'm putting my 77 Chevy Blazer up for sale in spring once the snow clears...Massive project.
Great content everyone, this is great stuff.
My dad still has a tire machine like that. I grew up using it
My uncle had one. It's cool to see one again.
Great video guys.
It's a scoddale that makes me so happy cause I have a scoddale too mine is a 84 and it has no holes no bad rust nothing no knocking and it dose not squeek either it runs grate and its my highschool driver rn man I love squarebody trucks
Amazing find
Y’all should do another backyard build but also doing it as cheap as possible lol
Those square body Chevy & GMC models were produced from 1973 - 1991 except the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups were finished in 1987 & the one ton regular cab pickups & regular cab medium dutys were finished in 1989.
I’d love to see an old school build like a 12” superlift leaf springs on 44” swamper boggers or TSL’s

6.2 turbo diesel I hope gets some love.
Thought Scottsdale trucks came with the silverado headlight over headlight style core support not the custom deluxe headlight over turn signal?
The front on that 1973 Ford F-350 wrecker is off of a 1978 - 1979 year model.

More than enough stuff at Bill's to Frankenstein a whole truck.
This is going to bring ALL the square body guys out. 81 K20 here. Wonder how the electrical is? lol
That's a beautiful early Century body. How early off the line is that
i had to laugh when i saw that familiar "TACO'D" hood on that one square body.
Iv got a 74 Super 20 454 3/4 ton for sale in TX Bronze/white Cheanye
An 85 Chevy long bed 4x4 square body.
Hint: Period correct.

wish these guys talked about pricing
You know that guy wants to buy that 73 pickup
How much did you guys give for that square?
I have an 82 k20 that originally had the paint scheme. Original owner had it repainted but sent me some original pictures of it
En dónde está ese Yonke?
How much did y’all buy it for?

Chevrolet Scottsdale C10
Alan Jackson keeper between the lines play that song and then you will slide into your past memories
Nice iron good people much respect
Do a d150 longed for once instead
I've been looking for a square body Chevy for a long time never can find one I wanted to trade my dirt bike for one but nobody wants to trade for it
People like cash. You'll get one. Just have to keep looking.
🙌
Sold my not too thrashed (California) 77 GMC C2500 for $3,000 in the 90s. Sad. 😢
😍👍

It's ALL up to God, if your business is successful or not SO you better trust in God or you'll NEVER have a chance!!! That's just how it is!!!
I wish I knew what they paid for it growing up my dad had like 6 of these
Think mark like music city better then muscle car
"This much rust on it" You guys dont know what real rust is.
Fall Guy Truck.
Just an under hook to tie down… 🤔
It would be really cool if you did a restomod of a 6.2 Detroit powered square body.
You're right. You don't see a lot of people messing with those 6.2s. That's going on my list of future projects.
Cmon guys that truck was just sitting there amongst all that trash. No way that truck would've lasted without somebody seeing it
That’s a shame you want to build a 4x4
The best choice is to choose something else.
come on guys another square body project, this has been done to death all over UA-cam...do something new
"Music $hitty Trucks" is more like it. a huge *Dislike*

Ya here In New Hampshire that thing would be listed for 8 grand

That's how it is. Grew up close to the Canadian border & currently wrench down in Texas. Have seen both ends & can agree with you guys.

Who cares....they are showing something they want to do. Not what people at home are doing. Thats not the point of this....
WOULD IT BE FEASIBLE TO PURCHASE TWO TRASHY SQUARE BODIES AND MAKE ONE NICE ONE OUT OF THAT?
