Good video. I would not turn off the automatic repeater shift. I have about fifty repeaters entered into my radio and that would just create unnecessary work. I only have a handful of simplex frequencies and find it easier to turn off the shift for a few than turn if off for all requiring manually inputting those sifts. Plus I use RT Systems program to input the frequencies, easy pizzie!

Turning off the repeater shift has no effect on the frequencies already entered into the memory or ones being stored into memory. But the great thing is and one I always recommend is to find what works best for you, the user.

Re date format, Month first is not familiar to Australians.

He did say most are familiar with month first thereby dismissing the rest of the planet but then he is in the US.

Is there no PC based software to interface with this to configure it so you don't have to navigate the menus? Like Ham Radio Deluxe for the FT891 for example?

Yaesu offers software for programming as well as RT Systems. Knowing how to program your radio from the front panel is always recommended so the operator is not reliant on the need for a computer to set up frequencies they may not have. The software is good for doing a mass upload.

@@ka6ete217 Thanks; I appreciate the rationale you describe. I'm thinking about adding one of these; they look interesting.
