I’m so here for this! I feel like the book community is all about pumping out THE MAX amount of books you can each year… my goal for 2023 is to read QUALITY books over QUANTITY! No more forcing my way thru a book if I am hating the journey 100+ pages in lol.

So, so, so many thoughts on A Little Life, so I'm very excited for the reading vlog! I read The Summer That Melted Everything by Tiffany McDaniel, and my brain has refused to let it go from my cranium. I think a cool video to do would be a comparison of various times in your BookTube career and what those Emmas would've enjoyed versus you now. Also, I love a good unhaul, if you need motivation to do that from one person

Daisy Jones and the Six was such an amazing, unique book! 😁 The first time I read it, the whole interview format threw me a little bit because it wasn’t like any other book I’d read before, but I really enjoyed it! The second time I read it, I was already prepared for the style of writing and I liked it even more! 😁😁😁

Interesting reads. Thanks for sharing. I'm including some of these books in my to-read list. There are a lot of books out there that most people haven't heard about that should get a lot more exposure. The last one I read was When Dying Is Not a Problem and I really liked it, but very few people know about it.

I love that you have reread a lot of Cassandra Clare books! Due to time constraints, I decided to wait until Chain of Thorns came out to read the Last Hours series! I finished Chain of Iron just last week and have wrote down chapter summaries for myself. Helps me remember! I haven't reread any books but am very tempted to! Like for TV shows with new seasons, I will rewatch the the previous seasons so it does make sense to reread a book series!
Anyways not ready for the shadowhunters series to be over! I would rather wait for the next whole series to be done for me to read due to my heart dying between book releases 🥲 can't wait to see your reading vlog for Chain of Thorns! I watched your Chain of Iron vlog as soon as i finished reading it too and I appreciate that we both were up at like 4am finishing up the book 😭! Couldn't put it down when getting to the last chapter!
Love how you're the biggest Cassie Clare fan I've ever seen! ❤️

Alsooo, i would LOVE to see you analyse depiction of therapy/therapists in books if that sounds like something you would be interested in. I am currently reading the Mara Dyer trilogy and the way therapy and the therapist are written feels icky but i cant really pinpoint why so i would love a professional's opinion on the subject!!

loved seeing a new video from you in my sub box! for future videos I'd love you to do book recommendations based on bands/ artists people like - would be a cool way to hear about your music taste. the same idea would be fun with movies and tv :) I'd also be interested to hear more about mental health rep in books. I've sought out depictions of EDs in literature this year and it seems like I've come across really great rep (e.g. Heartstopper) and also really triggering ones (e.g. winter girls) and I'm curious as to what people think makes good or bad representation. on a lighter note your outfits as book cover series was really fun and it would be cool to see more of that with more recent books (like shadow hunter outfits :))

I'll be honest as a queer man I'll never read A little Life, not because of the fact it's a sad book, but because theres is abousolutly no light at the end of the tunnel. I don't mind tragic stories, but a book that length with no hope is sick. Also TW CW the authors next book is about how the AIDS crisis would become a pandemic in a world where slavery didn't happen. So yeah....

but also i agree with you, as a queer nonbinary person myself i’m so exhausted of media about queer trauma it takes such a heavy toll on my mental health and it’s just not the kind of story i need, especially bc i’ve experienced my fair share of trauma while under my homophobic parents’ roof. im glad the book has resonated with a good number of people, but as for me personally… no thank you.

I just got you've reached sam for my birthday and am really looking forward to reading it. I do like YA a lot still and grief depictions in books are my thing. I hated all of this is true and the mystery was so disappointing and the characters were SO annoying. I agree that the concept had potential but it was not done well. I haaaaated a little life and have a rant review where I mostly focus on the disabled representation (as I couldn't speak on the therapy + abuse side of things) but knowing she did no research into the abuse history and feels that way about talk therapy does not surprise me with the book we have ended up with.

Also my first book of 2022 was a 5 star (Mary Jane) which was amazing and I think my favorite was One Italian Summer, I don’t know why really but I always think about it so. My least favorite was either All Our Hidden Gifts or Verity, which admittedly I knew I wouldn’t like but I tried it anyway ✨
