- Baytown is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Harris and Chambers counties. Located in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area, it lies on the northern side of the Galveston Bay complex near the outlets of the San Jacinto River and Buffalo Bayou. It is the sixth-largest city within this metropolitan area and seventh largest community (including The Woodlands CDP). Major highways serving the city include State Highway 146 and Interstate 10. At the 2020 U.S. census, Baytown had a population of 83,701, and it had an estimated population of 78,393 in 2021.
RIP San Jacinto Mall which use to be there in Baytown, Texas on Garth Rd & I-10. My mom took me to it back in the day when it first opened & it was the place & I was a little kid at the time. I've had many fun memories visiting it with my family back in my child days.
I remember when that mall opened. Sad to see it gone.

My grandparents bought their Baytown house in 1946ish on East Adoue @ 6th until the early 2000s. Saying which intersection y’all come to would be great so we can be oriented since so many towns change over the years.

Went to San Jacinto elementary in the 90s and remembered how everything was tagged up. 80s to 00s was bad with gangs but over all the hoods look the same from back then, just more quiet. Read a book about the history of Baytown called Black Brown Solidarity, which explains how Baytown has been a hot spot of hate and crime in the U.S. by a man who used to be a part of a youth group helping kids in the hood. I remember in 1st grade he brought a paralyzed gang member to our school and he explained in detail how he got shot up. I was 6 in 1991 so it was in the thick of it. My uncles also have some crazy war stories form that time.
That’s cool there and I appreciate the story, you’re gonna have to come up on my panel one day and let the people know how it really was in Baytown 💯.

Those apartments aren't the hood bro. get at me if you want to know the history of Baytown. I grew up in Old Baytown which was originally Baytown and its located to the left as soon as you cross the fredhartman bridge. Baytown is not what it used to be back in the late 80s and 90s. You were in Oakadition and rode thru Pelly. Both of those were dangerous hoods back in the day. Now in days there is no more gangs and everybody that once was in the streets helps each other out to better themselves.The klan also was deep in this area, there is a tree in middle of street and story goes they lenched black and brown on that tree. Don't know if that is 100% truth but its a story that has been told for many years.
