I ran a Suzuki franchise from 1977 to 1984 and had the use of any motorcycle and ATV we had in our inventory...ANY & MANY! My 1st...of many...personal demos was a GS750...that I "tricked-out" with a 1/4 fairing/4 into 1 exhaust system...and custom seat. Usually had 3-4 bikes prepped to ride anytime I wanted...both street & dirt. Best job I ever had!
I had a '77 GS750 and loved it. I rode it from Perth to Melbourne and back. I did 10,000 kms in two weeks with no problems. An awesome machine that I would be happy to have right now as a great daily ride. Not covered in expensive, complicated plastic crap like a lot of current bikes (I sound old...,) 🤣🤣 Just remembered I had a GS1000S too after that. Great bikes.
I am 67, but never had too many bikes.......multi-cylinder at that. Late in the show, in 1980 I had a Honda 750K. But I rode the GS550 a lot, the CB500-4, the KZ1000, the CBX. When the GS750 came to our country, it was a sensation ! Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
I have had many bikes. I loved my GS Suzuki but hands down it wasn't a match for my Kawasaki. I too had a KZ-1000, that was my favorite bike. always wanted a CBX, a friend of mine had one.
I've had Numerous Hondas, 400 supersport was my first. It was mint Canary yellow with 1500 miles on it. My brother moved out, & left it. He showed up about 6 mths later & asked if I wanted to buy it. I jumped! I loved that bike. Young and dumb, going 100+ a car turned in front of me, no helmet, & the last I recall was a blue door....past that I went onto the 750s , I loved them all. The Yamaha secas...A wombat, lol, But I never did own a KZ 1000 , overall my favorite for it's looks. I own an 82 GSX 750E,( I like adding the X as it was called that in the Japanese market) now. It's by far the Best overall bike of that era, I've ever owned. I recall having to stop,(in the 70s-90s)) due to my hands falling asleep, from vibration on the Hondas.... With this bike those days are Lonnnnng gone! Oh yah, I had a cherry red CBX, it was nice, but I didn't care for the way it handled, that rear swingarm wasn't in agreement with me. But nothing matched the sound of it coming & going, like a jet...the GS stock pipes are tame, but it's just so smooth, I never get tired of that. If you ever come across one buy it .. There not that quick or fast enough for a lot of people, & I definitely don't think it's the best looking bike, though I have the burgundy, & it suits me fine. 🙏💕💪✌️🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶 But If you do come across one, At least test ride it.
I bought a blue 77 GS750 from a neighbor back in 1995 for $400.00 I rode that bike year round. It was amazing. I laughed when they mentioned the redesigned cam tensioner. I had to use vice grips to keep mine adjusted correctly and running quiet. What a bike though.
Thanks for providing the time travel opportunity. Today there are bicycles with wider tires than this 750 Suzuki. I hope people 45 years from now have as big a laugh at our current fashions.
These are always a riot to watch if you pay close attention to the details. One of the Chevy films has a bunch of girls in bikinis coming out of the back.
I love my 82 Suzuki GSX 750E. Smoooth, Reliable, Handles Xlnt, & quick enough for my taste. Stock size tires and all. It's like riding a fine piece of art.
I had a 1977 550E aged 17, great bike, but was disappointed it had no kickstart. Always fancied the 750 but never had one. Remedied that by getting a 1995 gsxr750!
thank you. the digital transfer was done from a super8 film print. I had to upscale the image to bring out the detail. other that the damaged section it came out pretty good.
Great wee film, I never had the GS750 ,but I had the GS400 and the GS550, both great bikes. My workmate had a GS1000, I stupidly went pillion, I have never rode pillion since, he was nuts! I still have a GS500 as a winter hack.
I very rarely use the word "awesome" but these were absolutely awesome when they came out. I had a GS 750EC twin disks and cast wheels in black....first one in the UK...man but was I top dog back then.
I know that road. It's Azusa canyon s cal. I use to stop right by there, to let the tingle leave my hands on my Honda 750, headed to work... The other spots look like irwindale raceway.. This is a nice restoration....Good job!
Bought this exact bike new in 1977 for $1995 out-the-door. Awesome machine in it's time. Then I went to a '79 GS1000E... (two) GS1150ES...a GSXR1000.. and now I'm on my second GSF1200S Bandit which I've put 172,000 miles on. Best streetbike ever made, (after some light modification). Maybe GSX-S1000GT next?
I have had many bikes. Everything from a Suzuki 50cc X-1 to a Kawasaki KZ-1000. I gave up riding when I started a family. If I ever find a Suzuki RE5 in good shape for the right price I will have to buy if. Have you ever seen one? They imported them for only 2 years.
I had this bike, great pull from 6000 rpm up to red line. Was comfortable to tour with.

Same here, in the UK 🇬🇧
Nice looking lady with the Farrah Fawcett hair @ 4:35.
I had the 750 and the 400 - still got the 400 now. Lovely bikes to ride and very reliable.

@@Bellathebear777 in Suzuki numbering the “x” denoted the engine had 4 valves per cylinder - “GS” without the x only 2

I don’t think you could’ve gotten any better, really good job.
Thanks, you know my commitment to perfection

Plaid pants were really cool! I had several of them.

Dang look at those clean details on the bike. Nice video

still have a 79 550E great bike
nice, I had a GS425, looked just like the one in the "Drag Racing Tips Film" sold it many years ago, wish I still had it. drove that bike everyware.
I had a Honda CB-400A back in the day (Hondamatic) it was absolutely a gem, no issues at all just very reliable and smooth!!
Well I own a '78 GS750E and I must say I agree with everything.

My 1990 GS500E still goes strong.High quality from Suzuki Co.
Lovely old film. I would confirm the brakes on my KZ1000 were terrible 😂. My first proper bike was a GT185. Now have GSF1200 which is awesome!
I had the 1977 GS 550 rode the heck out of that thing
I had a gs 425, was a fun little 2 cylinder.
I had a GS750E in my early 20-ies. Such a pity Suzuki hasn’t made a modern version like Kawasaki did with the Z900
I had a Honda 750. It would be nice to see a old commercial of Honda’s bikes
Haven’t found any yet but always looking
Have a 79 cx500 custom Honda, no speed bean but fun to ride

Cant wait to go out and trade in my 2006 bandit1200 for one of these today!😂
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think the engine was basically a copy of Kwak 900 !
I noticed this one only had a single disc on the front, I have a 77 and it has twin
It’s not unusual to see previous model year features or options in these films. They were usually produced before the new year went into production.
@@theemulsionalchemist5688 Makes sense, cheers
I'd have one if the cars on the road today had decent drivers.

I'm not sure that "reeks" and "style" belong in the same sentence. I blame Jeff Karr. 😂
Video re👍
I like 70s motorcycles better than 70s cars anyway.
