- It finally happened to my RCZ, the check engine light came up: "Engine fault: repair needed". Since this is a pretty generic fault message, let's have a look at the recirculation valve - on of several possible causes.

I´ve changed the recirculation valve of my Citroen C4 Lounge THP 1.6 PSA engine but the problem now is intermitent. Do you have any other hint?

Hi Scotti, finally I could fix the annoying Engine Fault Repair needed issue on the 308 GTi, After scanning with the PPS it gave me a clue, “Oil circuit mismatch atmospheric valve” I let the thing “mature” until it gave a STOP low oil pressure warning, so I didn’t move it... starting with the simple to the complex, replaced the oil filter... Same warning, then replaced the Oil pressure sensor, and voilà failure and warning gone. When removing the bulb I noticed the connector was wet with oil, so it gave way...
So far everything’s back to normal.

I have the error code P0033 - "turbine discharge solenoid valve dump valve control fault" - on my rcz.
I wouldn't know, sorry. All I know is in my videos. I sold the RCZ 3 years ago, so it's quite far back in my memory.

Hi Scotty! My RCZ 1.6 156hp have a big power loss (often) and then in a couple of hours/days it’s ok. Funny, huh?! A “normal” car service and twoo Peugeot “dealer” can’t find anything! No error, nothing!!! Please give me an ideea! Thank’s in advance!
Sorry but based on what you wrote I can't determine anything. Without a clear description of the fault, what happens under which circumstances and what fault codes the diagnostic reader is displaying, it's not possible. Furthermore, I'm not an RCZ specialist. All I know is in my videos. I've sold the RCZ almost three years ago, so this is all quite far back in my memory. All the best!

@@patris5182Da kann ich auch nur vermuten als konkret helfen. Vielleicht ist es ja die Hochdruckpumpe. Du kannst relativ einfach prüfen, ob sie Druck aufbaut und der Druck aufrecht gehalten wird. Ich hab dazu ein Video gemacht. Aber: wenn es das ist, müsste auch ein Fehlercode hinterlegt sein....

Hi ... I have peugeot 308 model 2012 I have problems in engine management system faulty. How I can fix it? I chang thermostat and some of sensor no use still show massage plus when I start engine on its given heat is very high... Please tell what I should do now around 1 month no one know what is the problem.
Never heard of that issue but also I'm not an expert. It helps to plug in a diagnostics reader and read all the fault codes to get a better picture of the problem

Hey, btw would you be interested in some Bosch cabin air filters and 3 oil filters for the RCZ, 1.6l petrol? I cleaned up my garage and found them.

Hi mate, loving your videos, well I purchased from my brother a Peugeot 207 GT THP 1.6 150cv but after 5 months I'm suffering ignition problems from cold start, the engine moves a lot and also like it want to stall itself, you can also smell like fuel. It loses power for a little time. But once the engine is warm, no more issues.
So well after changing spark plugs and coils on a Peugeot official workshop I still have the same problem, so maybe there's something wrong. Do you have some idea on what's the problem?
Just to note I have the RaceChip One installed since around 3 months and no problem until now...

Hi and thanks a lot! Hard to tell from a distance - it's always best to plug in a diagnostics tool. I'm not a mechanic so I can only guess from what I've experienced myself... high pressure pump and injectors are a common problems on these engines. Especially if it's a model from before mid 2012.

Not sure if still relevant but it’s almost certainly your timing chain. Causes a misfire and you should probably hear a slight rattle from cold start that disappears once at temperature. Also causes over fueling which is why you can smell fuel. Recently had the same issue with my gti. Usually get a depollution fault and engine light as well.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but did you ever solve this? My GFs car has exactly the same symptoms, so wondering if it was a timing chain issue?

Hi Scotti, ich habe den 156 und hatte mal das selbe Problem als ich ihn gekauft hatte. Ich hatte meinen allerdings gebraucht gekauft. Der Verkäufer hatte bei mir den Tank mit E10 aufgefüllt. Der Treibstoff ist zwar zugelassen, aber der RCZ geht sofort in in Notmodus da das Gemisch zu mager ist. Welchen Treibstoff nutzt du? Ist glaube ich auch ein Benziner den du hast oder? Eventuell mal richtig guten Treibstoff tanken und nochmal probieren. Hört sich nämlich an als würde deiner durchgehend im Notmodus laufen. Ach und noch was, hast du mal mit nem OBD ausgelesen?

Hi André, that's hard for me to tell since I don't own the "R". It's the latest RCZ and they changed quite I few engine parts compared to the 200 hp version. I haven't heard anything bad about it. MotorScotti I believe the engine they use in the RCZ R is a motor that has been around for about 7/8 years and they keep using it in the 308 GTi so I believe reliability should be average, at least. Thanks a lot for the help you provided. I will ask in your Facebook page and in the forum 👍
André Gonçalves check my Facebook page I already opened a thread. Yeah it's the same block but they changed a few parts to give it more power obviously. Thus block has been used since late 2006 and is still being put in the latest models of most of the Peugeot, Citroën and DS cars.

How about putting in an OEM valve? Did you put in the aftermarket one because the original was broken or because you wanted to improve the system?
Hi Scotti. Man I hope you get my question and find some time to reply. Really at my end here. So not going to go into the codes least to say that its Powerstrain on the turbo and Too lean at higher load bank 1. Cant get up a hill (no power) Clear the code and I get about two days turbo until eventually it goes back into limp mode. Changed top and bottom O2 sensor, It has no MAF sensor but have cleaned both the MAP sensor (With MAF Cleaner). The re-circulation value looks brand new. Turbo has no wear whats so ever. What else can it be? Fuel consumption is huge!! Get about 5 days top on a tank where I should get about 2 weeks. Im running out of sensors to look at. Anything I'm missing? Also get a generic code that stats "Fuel System Monitor bank 1". But not much help from the forums as to what this could mean.
How do you know the turbo is still good? Have you taken it off and inspected it. My turbo said sayonara the week I sold the car :-D
@@MotorScotti oh man you kidding! How unlucky! No have not removed it yet. Had a good look behind the recirculation valve and seemed in pretty good shape. How would you know for sure it's the turbo?
@@jonoroos007 You need to take it off the engine to have a good look at the blades. They might be worn, have too much play. Maybe there is something in there? Why don't you want to go into the fault codes? It's the first and easiest way to get to the source of these problems. Anyway, good luck!

@@jonoroos007 I won't be able to help you with the codes, it's just for yourself I mentioned it. I've sold mine and haven't had that particular issue, so I wouldn't be of any help, anyway. :)
Hi Scotti, this happens happens to me in mainly 5th and 6th gear when under low RPM and i accelerate and the code comes up, my car losers all power and i can barley make any speed, do by pass this, i usually, pull over, rev the car up and take off fast and this pulls it out off limp mode ( power loss mode ) as im usually in a rush to work and then hook im OBD reader and clear the error but i can never figure why my RCZ 200HP GT is doing this, my mechanics say its the turbos that need replacing by i know it doesnt as being a car enthusiast my turbo is doing fine and i know from my other two turbo vehicles i know what to look for, but im hoping this is the answer. I do know the code is a P100 or a P200 something about it saying its either contradicting what the notes a saying in codes. Great videos, big Fan from Australia
Andrew Paige Thanks a lot. Well P0100 is the mass air flow sensor amd P0200 are the injectors. The engine fault warning light is very generic. Only when you read the codes and check properly will you find the actual fault.
This has happened to me twice the past two months! Going to follow the above and hope it'll work again as I can't seem to get over 50mph at the moment!

obdii.pro/en/code/P2279 Sounds like an intake air system leak. I'd check if all the hoses and connectors are connected properly. Just get a diagnostics tool to read and delete error codes. It's the easiest and in some cases only way to find the cause of the problem

Was für ein Baujahr? Mein RCZ war ein 2011 und die Probleme haben sich auf das reduziert was ich in meinen Videos gezeigt habe. Aber ich bereue nicht, ihn verkauft zu haben. Hatte super 6.5 Jahre damit und habs dabei belassen.
hello. i have problem with my 308 gt year 2008 and 128kw. car go in limp mode without any lights present or warning... last time he did this, we look with diagnostic and it show error with electric cooling turbo pump (p2603). i have change electric pump but till now have passed 3 weeks and limp mode again. we have check again with diagnostic but no error present... what do you think?
Maybe try deleting the error code.
@@MotorScotti that is whole point. i dont have anything to delete... there are no errors stored in. nothing i can look at. and car work normaly then go limp mode then work fine again.. im thinking if Pressure sensors make some troubles? ( but i think something will show up on diagnostic if they started to get dirty... )
@@MrAlfa155 Hmmm.. weird. I'm really just a hobby mechanic and not an expert and can only give advice on my own experience. Does the limp mode kick in when you accelerate hard? Does it come upon cold start and run a bit rough for the first minute? Than it might be the high pressure pump? But you should still have error codes stored in the computer in any case....

Replace Oxy Sensor? Or Clean?
You shouldn't clean an oxygen sensor. Always replace a faulty O2 sensor

hi scotty please have a little problem here with my car when ever the recirculation valve switch is connected my car jerks and turns off but when ever i disconnect the switch the car runs perfectly well, i was told its a bad turbo but i really am no sure any suggestion ?
My suggestion is to connect an OBDII reader and read the fault codes when it happens and go from there.
@@MotorScotti I did that and it show p0118 (engine coolant temperature signal short circult to positive or circult open)
The diesels are bullet proof, unfortinitely the 1.6thp is a pain in the ass, as it has numerous problems that also keep repeating, carbon build up is the main issue.
I hate to say but I agree. It's quite a diva. I still love it for almost 7 years but sold it this spring.

I remove EGR valve fiscally and then remove it from computer. Now my car works like charm.
Марко Мирковић well there is a reason it's in there, so I'm not sure how that's gonna work out in the long run. In my case the EGR wasn't even the cause of the problem

just to add I got this fault, it was a split fuel line
It can be many different things, the message on the dash is very generic until you hook up the diagnostic reader and find out the specific trouble code.

Got a check engine light that say Anti Pollution System then lose half my engine power
Could be several things. If you don't want to go to a mechanic straight away it's good measure to invest in a diagnostics tool to read the error codes. It's always very hard to point to the cause of a failure when you don't have the car in front of you and don't know the exact specifications and history of it.

Hey Scotty. I get a misfire every time I floor it in 3rd gear at 5,100rpms. Have you ever had misfire problems?
I never had misfires on my RCZ, can't really help you here. I've sold the RCZ a while ago.

These cars are horrible.
I had over 6 years of fun. Obviously mine did run into some issues as you could see, but it wasn't anything major, even compared to other brands with comparable models / engines.
