- Hi everyone! I thought it would be fun to share this quick video of what I bring to my high-risk OB appointments. This is my first pregnancy, but I have learned quickly that these appointments can be rather long, and to come prepared with diabetes supplies, snacks, and entertainment! I’m on maternity leave soon and can’t wait to make some more pregnancy videos once I have the time :)

Type 1 Diabetes Pregnancy Q&A: • I'M PREGNANT! // type ...
Was heading to bed (it’s late here) but when I saw this pop up on UA-cam so I have to watch it! So happy for you and Raffi! I love your videos Michelle, they always make me feel less alone with T1D. Hope you’re feeling well💕
Aww thank you Anna! That's honestly so sweet of you! I am feeling well, thanks. I hope you are doing well and that you can get to sleep after the video 🥰❤️
Congratulations God bless you, I have follow u seen 2019 when they diagnosed my son with type 1
Thank you ❤️! I hope your son is well. Sending my best to you and him!
Found this channel when I was having some health issues and they thought it could be diabetes and it turned out not to be but I stayed because I feel like I learn so much with every video and your vlogs are so fun!! I'm also from Ontario (not the GTA though) so it's so cool to see someone else from there (& sending Toronto good vibes to get their COVID cases down and vaccines up!!) Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!
Thanks so much Natalie!! I'm really glad you didn't end up having diabetes. Thanks for sticking around, and thanks for all the nice wishes ❤️❤️😊
I'm so happy for you. This video brings smile to my face as I see you are glowing and taking good care of yourself and the baby.
Congratulations! Have a healthy and safe pregnancy! 🙂
Congratulations Michelle...I had same age of you when pregnant with my first son, now 18 and graduated from high school. I think you will be an awesome mom!
Well done on your preparation Michelle. Best wishes for the remainder of the trimester. You must be regarded as a very good patient.
So lovely to see you ❤️
Congratulations again on your baby girl
Congrats. I'm also have type 1. We've been trying for years but still no luck. My A1C is always in range around 6.5. I'm so happy for you.
Hi Michelle. I have sons but I would be so proud to have a daughter like you. Your baby girl will be so fortunate to have you as her mommy. Can’t wait to virtually meet her:) Keep up the great work!
Wow, thank you so much for the kind words and support 💖!
I am preparing for a T1D pregnancy in the near future🤞. Your videos are so helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Aww thank you so much! That makes me happy to hear :). I'm on mat leave in less than 2 weeks and am hoping to make a lot more pregnancy related videos then!
I just love all of your videos:-) I also have diabetes type 1 and find you so inspiring.
Can I ask where you bought your beautiful purse?
I'm enjoying these videos. I adopted because I didn't want to take a chance of passing on Type1. My dad had it. I'm glad everything is going well so far.
I'm glad you were able to adopt - it's a great option for having a family! Thank you ❤️
Congratulations 🎊
Thank you!!
💗💗
Great video when I carry a bottle of water I usually carry a straw. That way I don't have to completely remove my mask to take a drink.
That's a great idea!
Suggestion: How do you get your Ha1c numbers from "T1 Diabetic levels" to "non-diabetic levels"? You mentioned a few vids ago that having become pregnant, you took things really seriously and got your Ha1c to... below 6? HOW? Worth a whole video to those of us who would LOVE to hear about it. Thanks and Congrats, BTW.
Thanks for the idea! I talk about how I prepped my blood sugars for pregnancy at 5:52 in my Pregnancy Q&A if you want to check it out - ua-cam.com/video/_F4xTXp7adE/v-deo.html
But I can try to make a more detailed video before the baby arrives :) ! I wish there was a magic formula for preparing blood sugars for pregnancy, but it was just a ton of hard work and 100% focus on diabetes. It is not easy mental health-wise, but obviously very worth it given the cause ❤️!
When I was in my last trimester and went to SO MANY appointments, I basically went to each appointment with a bag packed just in case I got sent to the hospital. It never happened but they always warned me it was a possibility.
Oooo I haven't gotten to that point yet haha, but I'm 31 weeks now so I will be packing my hospital bag soon! Good idea to be prepared!! 💖
That stasher bag is so cute😍 What's your target for TSH levels and is it more difficult to maintain it during pregnancy?
My endo likes to see my TSH between 0.35 - 2.5 mIU/L (the ranges are a bit more strict for pregnancy). I was diagnosed with Hashimotos near the beginning of my pregnancy, so I'm not sure how it is different managing while not pregnant. I'm on a very low dose of Synthroid every day and that seems to do the trick :) . My endo even mentioned that we can try to take me off Synthroid once I give birth to see if I still need it!
Question!! We’re u ever on any birth control before becoming pregnant. I’m 23 and was just diagnosed. I’m going to ask my endo but I’m just curious
Please make another video about your appt notebook!
I am a nervous pee-er...lol. I always have to take a large water bottle to all my appts.
I'm also a nervous pee-er haha! What would you like to know more about the notebook? I can try to talk about it more in a future video :)
@@MichelleLord How you set it up? Keep track of weights and BP? Do you have one for general appts, OB appts, and endo? Lol... I usually just have a running list of questions on my phone but I think a notebook could be way more organized.
@@AlejandraRamirez-cm8hh I don't really have is set up in any particular way to be honest haha. I usually just write the name of the appointment and the date at the top of the page, and then the rest is a mess of point form notes 😂. But I do use it for all appointments ... OB, endo, psychologist, even physiotherapy as well! 😊
Hey I’m type 2 what store to get those snacks they look good ???
I've linked them in the description :)
What are the risk for having a baby as a type 1? My only reference is not so good since it is a movie--Steel Magnolias.
There are unfortunately quite a few different risks, depending on the stage of pregnancy. I can assure you that Steel Magnolias is not a good representation of T1D and pregnancy haha :P. This website is a good resource if you are curious about the risks: beyondtype1.org/type-1-pregnancy-risks-minimize/
(I don't really want to type them all out because it causes me a lot of anxiety talking/thinking about them)
@@MichelleLord thank you. I didn't figure Steel Magnolias was accurate. I have seen movies that included a character going low from type 1 and the response is to quickly give them insulin. HAHA Movies are a poor source for info. You look like your are doing really well through your pregnancy and you have a super team monitoring this sweet baby girls arrival. You are blessed.
Hi
Hello! 🥰
