I just found out I am pregnant, this will be our first. Just ordered that book. Thank you for sharing your story. Been a type 1 for almost 30 years, I am 37 now.
Aww Michelle ... congratulations to you and Raffi! ❤🥰 Your channel has been such a safe haven for me as a t1 adult and watching your videos makes me feel like I have a t1 buddy. I commented last year how your channel was a motivator for starting to take initiative of my own care and I finally achieved a non-diabetic a1C after that 😭❤ It's encouraging to see so many T1 moms share their journey, and I wish you a healthy third trimester. You're going to be an amazing mom!
I was wondering if/when this video would come. Congrats! I had a heathy happy T1D pregnancy, and had the same book. So helpful to hear from others who had good experiences! Not enough out there, especially on UA-cam. Hope you make more!
Congratulations, I 'm sure you will be a great mom!! Now I understand why we haven't hear from you in a while... I'm T1D too and now my wife is almost 8 weeks so.. looks like there is a baby boom in T1D community!
Congratulations. I have been type 1 for 40 yrs. I have 2 daughters, 36 & 39. They are both fine. Pregnacy was a real challenge...no g6 so constant fingerpricking. Both girls were average size babies with no issues, just an IV for 24 hrs to regulate their sugars. Nursing was great once i realized i needed a glass of milk for each feeding. I would have been less scared with a g6 as I do not feel my lows. Now I have 4 grandkids. Trust your husband to help and emjoy the ride.
Our very best wishes for this next chapter in life's adventure, to you and to your husband Michelle. We have three children and now seven grandchildren. It has all been a wonderful journey.
Congratulations Michelle, I’m so beyond excited for you! I’ve been following you for almost a year now since my own diagnosis of T1D at 24, and there have been many days where watching your videos has helped me feel not so alone. I’ve even gone back and watched old videos as I just feel so comforted by your own experience! Thank you, and wishing you and your family all the best ❤️
After being diagnosed in 1967, & going off to college a week later, I was married in 1971 - only advice was to have children early. I had our son (still on one shot of long acting + short acting insulin each day, & only urine strips for testing ... ) 5 1/2 wks early in 1972, & our daughter, 3 1/2 wks early in 1975, after 2 wks in the hospital being monitored. They are pictures of health at ages 46 & 48 - miraculous & beyond blessed. My blood sugar was tested ONCE during the “olden days” when my son was born. I’m doing well after 53 yrs with Type1, & was one of the first in our large city to go on a pump in the mid-80’s. How beautifully FAR we’ve come! You & your Baby Girl will be FINE🌟‼️
You have no idea how scared I am for My Fiancee and I to start conceiving and have a baby. I thank you guys for putting this video together and helping to quell my anxiety. sigh. Also, Thanks for the Book Rec also, just ordered it!
Thank you sooo much for your videos!! My husband and I are planning on trying to get pregnant in the next 1-2 years and I want to start prepping- I already feel anxiety about the high stakes and importance of managing my diabetes.. your video helps me feel more prepared and lessens the anxiety though. Thank you!
Congrats!!! We are all very happy for you🤗 you look awesome! Keep doing so great and keep us posted, it has been very nice to follow you and want to keep doing so with all your new achievements! Thanks for sharing!! 👍🥰
I’m excited for you & Raffie! Over 25 yrs ago, I lost my only child after 5 months into my pregnancy. I remember having more low Sugars. (My lowest BG was 16 during my pregnancy) I’m So Happy for you & Raffie on your Wonderful experience together, Congratulations! 💗 I’m Grateful you & Raffie are able help other T1D’s Mother’s start their families w/ your & Raffie’s Experience on UA-cam❤️💙. I know it’s Early, Happy Mother’s Day! Many Blessings w/ your Baby Girl arrival in July(?)🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Be Well & Amazing to yourselves. Thank you.
Love your video! Thanks for sharing! I wear my dex on the front of my upper arm, inner area above my bicep , that may be a nice option for a pumpsite. Best wishes for you and your family😘 no spoilers!
Do you worry about overusing arms for sites if you are also using it for cgm? I ask because my son feels like everything is overused at this point (20 years in) so to have to double up on one particular part of the body would be a lot of use at once. I recognize you have no choice at the moment. Just asking for ideas due to overuse already for us since I am pretty sure you are a good problem solver in all areas related to diabetes by now. Thank you and you look adorable. Congratulations.
currrently 4weeks and im so nervous!! i really like you saw a therapist. ive been telling ppl, that when it happens, i'm seeing my therapist again. people do not realize how stressful, anxiety inducing being type 1 and pregnant is. also its also good to work on stuff that may show up while youre parenting later on. always breaking the generational curses
What drove me nuts during my delivery was that the nurse spent more time trying to set up their insulin pump instead of helping me deliver. I didn't understand why I couldn't be on my own pump with my own settings. I learned that the hospital staff have little experience and knowledge with type 1 diabetics. Also now everyone assumed I was gestational. The other thing I learned was to take weight and measurement with a grain of salt. My boy was measuring in the 96th percentile and was 7 lbs 10 oz when born (at 37 weeks due to hypertension). Ultrasound measurements are not accurate! Congrats guys. I guess girl based off your cravings!
People don’t realised how Hard diabetes is 😬 especially while pregnant it sucks. I’m trying to get pregnant I hope I am pregnant 🤰 I’m using Fertility lubricant but after this month I’m going to try & stop for a baby. Reason being is sort of associated with diabetes has I can’t handle being heavily pregnancies during the summer.
I’m very happy for you and it sounds like you’re doing a great job managing your blood sugars. I am Type for 50 years now and have 2 daughters who are now 30 and 26. My pregnancies were also very difficult but I was very happy. I prepared my body like you. My OB told me that I would not feel my low sugars and he was right. I was checking it multiple times each day and I was so low at times but fortunately, I was still able to frantically drink some juice. I had to stay home from work. I also had hyperemesis, which is nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and had it the whole 9 months. Had to be hospitalized a few time and get hydrated to prevent early labor. For the 2nd pregnancy, I was immediately started on 2 medications to help me digest and absorb my food quickly so not to lose it. The downside was dry heaves!! My girls were delivered by c-section about 2-3 weeks early and they were and are very healthy. I would do it all over again if I was younger. I was already 36 and almost 40 when they were born. I look forward to hearing about your baby girl! Congratulations!! Mary Wood
Hi, I hope you and your family are well. I have a question: how did you manage your insulin resistance in the morning?I have the same problem (also before pregnancy) and my doctor can’t really help me… Thank you
My bg's are abov 200 for 2-3 days after breakfast n I am completely depressed n I cant do any walks or any exercise and all.Being more patient to have stable bg's pls reply
Thanks you Dr Igudia on UA-cam for all you do in my life and my family. I went for a test today after taking the medication i ordered from Dr Igudia and I tested type 2 Diabetes negative. Thanks doctor I will keep letting the world know about your good work sir
Great video. I am completely and utterly terrified. I feel I’ll never be able to be healthy or good enough with type 1. I am petrified but it’s my biggest dream 😭
Hlllo Do yu travel during pregnancy cz my doc advised not to travel bt nw I am onset of 5th month n I want to travel only a short trip what's your reply?
Congratulations to the both of you Michelle! I went through two pregnancies (two handsome young men who are now ages 23 & 27) and back then we did not have all the technology we have today! Looking forward to your journey as a T1D Mom!
Congratulations! It’s something I never wanted for myself personally, but I know it’s a goal for so many and extra challenging for us type 1s so yay for you!
Not only is pregnancy with type 1 diabetes scary, but add in the want for a family and a partner to do it with but not finding anyone, it really can make you anxious and worried.
I'm so happy for you, Michelle! Wish you so much happy moments ahead. It's not easy and guess what- it becomes harder after the baby 😀 So be strong and have fun :) I'm type 1 from 28 years now and have 2 wonderful boys- big brother 6 years old and baby 8 months. Hugs from Bulgaria :)
@@chcx5275 it wasn't perfect.. I use dexcom G5 and it was difficult with all the cravings. Here most of the women T1 have c section. No big deal, don't worry. Wish you luck! Don't be afraid, your little miracle makes you stronger :)
Hi Michelle, Congrats! I am a type 1 mom in Toronto. I have a 6 year old boy and a 10 year old daughter. If you have any questions or need any support just get in touch. We live in the west end of the city. We can meet safely too in my backyard or in a park if you want a look at life as a type 1 mommy. XO
Oh my goodness Michelle!! What a wonderful exciting video!!! I’m honestly in awe of your control and how committed you are, you’re already an incredible Mama!!! And a little girl! Oh you and Raffi are going to make such wonderful parents to this little girl! Congratulations to you both and thank you for being willing and open in making this content. I know this isn’t always the easiest- let alone when a babe is involved! Big love to you both and cannot wait to see more of your pregnancy content!! ❤️🥳🐣
You mention your diabetes care team a lot and I was curious to know what that team consisted of? Like regular diabetes not pregnant diabetes. I only have my endo and it's always kind of been that way (I had a nurse when I was in the Children's Hospital). Sometimes I feel like I don't really have enough help and it's a bit frustrating haha
so happy for you. you two look so happy and i know you are. my first pregnancy was 1984. glucometers were available in 1982. thank goodness i had that. a cgm would have been so wonderful for all 3 of my pregnancies. all healthy boys altho matt my first was 11 lbs at 36 weeks. he does have an autoimmune condition. the other two boys so far thank you God are without an autoimmune condition. i got so much better with diabetes control as i had more kids. mike the 3rd baby was 7 lbs 12 oz at 38 weeks with continual a1c of 5.5. carry on my lovely. you are doing a marvelous job xo
We want to try and get pregnant in August. But I just don't know how to get my blood sugars under control. I bought a food scale today so that'll be a start. I just really want this 🥺
Hi Michelle, I hope you and baby Eden and your whole family are doing well! I have loved to watch your journey through pregnancy and type 1, it has been so inspirational for me! Question for you--did you take a prenatal vitamin when you were pregnant and if so, which one would you recommend? I also have Hashimoto's and am considering the T-slim as my first pump, (was diagnosed in 2020.)
Congratulations! You are going to be wonderful parents! Thanks for sharing your A1C with us. Does it say in your book, or did your diabetic team explain why we aim for a better A1C during pregnancy but let it slide the rest of the time?
Congratulations!!! And well done on all the hard work it takes to have a healthy pregnancy in Type 1 Diabetes.. will definitely keep the psychologist in mind for when my time comes x
Yes I knew it was a girl because you are caring high , congratulations 🎉🎀 And this up/down journey of pregnancy but when hold that special one overwhelming love 💕
Awe yay congrats you two. 🥰🥰 So happy for you guys ❤❤❤ I am 26 years old and have been T1 for 18 years as well, i got pregnant with my first at 18 years old, i had miscarried at 10 weeks due to complications. I now have a 5 year ol daughter, i had her when i was 21 and it sure is tough dealing with pregnancy while being T1. I admire you two and can't wait too met your bundle of joy. 🥰❤
I'm so happy for you (both)! Had a funny feeling this might be happening. Glad I was right🤗! I have no doubt your daughter will be at least as awesome as her mom (and dad)!
Congratulations to you both!! A GIRL! I am so thrilled for you! I have been missing your videos but completely understand your wanting to keep this new development private. Will keep you and baby in my prayers.
It was very interesting to learn how your pregnancy can affect your diabetes, I had no idea it could affect it so much. Congratulations on your baby girl!! How exciting!!! I'm so glad you're doing well, that you and baby girl are healthy and that everything is going smoothly!! Congratulations again to you and Raffi!! You're super cute and deserve all the happiness in the world! Fingers crossed everything keeps going well and best wishes for this next chapter on your lives!!
Hey congratulations on the Baby! My wife and I learned that we are expecting our second! I am happy to hear that you are taking the mental health aspect seriously and hope you continue as needed after the baby is born. Our post partum was a difficult transition for us. You are killing it! I am looking forward to future videos of your beautiful family.
I love how you start the discussion by setting out your limits, your expectations that we are mature enough to understand that YOU can choose to share a little or a lot and whatever amount you choose to share, does not give us authority to expect or demand more. Thanks and Good luck to both of you.
I am type 1 and I have 2 boys they are not type 1 at all they both was very healthy now they are 22 and 20
I’m happy for you and happy to read that
I guess it's pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to watch newly released series online?
@Roger Trace try Flixzone. You can find it on google :)
@Ryder Kairo Yea, I have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
@Ryder Kairo thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!
Congratulations to you both I have been a T1 D for 59 years 3 very healthy children no diabetes at all. Congratulations again so happy for you.
Was it easy for you to become pregnant? I am terrified I will and then sugars will ruin my baby’s health and mine 😢
Congratulations! My biggest fear is having a baby and the diabetes affecting my baby’s health.
Hi can you share your journey? Your meals, your dos and donts? Thankyou so much

I am 26 years old and have been T1 for 18 years as well, i got pregnant with my first at 18 years old, i had miscarried at 10 weeks due to complications. I now have a 5 year ol daughter, i had her when i was 21 and it sure is tough dealing with pregnancy while being T1. I admire you two and can't wait too met your bundle of joy. 🥰❤
