I don't understand why people laugh at CrossFit. As a bodybuilder I thought I was strong and was relatively dismissive of other forms of fitness. Then I tried CF and had women a third of my size destroy me. I have massive respect for it now.
My respect to all disciplines, Crossfit, Weight lifting, Bootcamp, Gymnastics, Runners, Break Dancer (even tough that a lot of people thinks is not a discipline..) Soccer players, Football players, etc.. All sports need different techniques, and the people who says negative stuff about some of this sports, is because they haven't try other exercises and are very closed minded... peace!
Drumwannabe17 I live in maui. Im in the water everyday. You're trying to complicate something when there's nothing complicated about it. If you mean that I don't know your "competitive" based swimming terminology, that only douchey pretentious people like yourself would know, then yes. Your guess would be correct. Just because you know terms only special people know does not make you a better swimmer, nor more intelligent. You should stop fooling yourself and quit acting like you are.
***** Do you know what's most funny to me? How many people do you suppose have read the original comment in the past 10 and a half months since it was posted? Given that the video has about 326 thousand views on it I would venture to say that around 25 to 30 thousand people have read that comment (given that there were probably a lot of views before my comment and that many people choose not to read the comments) and only one person found it offensive enough to say anything. One Person! I'm not sure I'm the one with the problem here. Sounds like you need to grow some thicker skin. Nobody else other than you felt that I was being an asshole and representing my sport in a poor light. I'm not so sure I'm the one who needs to change here.
Drumwannabe17 So wait. Now you're claiming to not be a pretentious ass and stating a case as to why? You've already admitted to it. Are you a child on your parents account? Get off before I tell your mom.
in pakistan there is no one knows about cross fit I started it few weeks ago I loss 11 kg but now I wants to gain muscles indeed I have no trainer here
i think crossfit is an art of sport wherer you have to be very dedicated und very complete (i mean stamina, strenght, flexibility, coordination etc.) but in my opinion it is unfair against athletes with lower weight (i mean muscle weight not fat) because some of the weight they must lift is too heavy in comparison against heavier athletes. and to get to amount of mass (muscles) you need to long to archieve. for the non bodyweight challenges i think it would be fair if everybody have to do it with a percentage of his bodyweight. This challenge here for me fits at best the crossfit idea
I love that idea....thats even more unfair if you think that all genetics aren't the same...some relative measure of weight should definitely introduced...or at last, some category of "absolute strength" and "relative strength" to make the vast majority of people can get a chance at least in the second group.
The Games and Crossfit programming in generally usually strikes a good balance between workouts with heavy weights and body weight exercises that favor the smaller, more agile competitors. The games aren't programmed perfectly, but raw strength is definitely a fundamental component of "fitness" and I'm glad that they do implement workouts where you need to be able to do heavy deadlifts and move serious mas around. Btw the guy that took 2nd in the 2011 games, Josh Bridges, is only 5'5" and 170ish lbs.

My thoughts exactly!
You're right! it doesn't matter if one is "an expert" in a discipline, there's always new exercises that will makes us break! even jumping a rope.. :D
Crossfit is just plain funny because watching a bunch of juiced-up meatheads trying to swim or run is absolutely hilarious.
+Ray Stark k
same experience... thought I was fast and agile, but boy... I was dead wrong.

This is right, Im on the same opinion :)
WOW! Just dicovered CrossFit! This event will make you better at any sport! PERIOD! :p
Pull-ups straight after swimming... even though it's CrossFit and I'm obliged to mock, that's pretty damn impressive grueling stuff.
I never knew how hard a muscle up was until i tried one. Barely could do one. These guys are crazy.
lol at the announcers who know nothing about swimming trying to commentate this event.
Also lol at Jordan Troyan not trying at all the entire event.
Oh, I guess we should leave swimming to experts like you? Fuck outta here, swimming is swimming its not rocket science.
