Is The Black Community an Illusion ?
In this video, I discuss the black community / African Diaspora...Is the black community an illusion stems from years of observing how disjointed we are and how we fail to work together as a group of people when compared with other immigrant communities in diaspora. Within the black community, there isn't evident efforts that we are building black wealth as a group of people but instead we tear each other down. Is The Black Community an Illusion ?

The problem with black people is jealousy and hatred, we don't want any body to grow more than us. I pray we change. Thanks for this vlog

Even at work, the people who will come after you are your own black people.

Nipsey Hussle's recent death done by a black man who was envious of his success, is an enough testimony to what you're saying about us black people not getting along. This hatred and envy we have towards each other's success is an absolute sickness. And it's one of the main factors stopping us from reaching our full potentials. This sickness we have in our hearts has cost us the lives of our great leaders like Martin Luther king, murdered by a black man, Nipsey Hussle, murdered by a black man, Patrice lumumba, murdered by a black man and the list goes on. And sadly, it seems like blackmen are more weak when it comes to jealousy towards another blackman than blackwomen. Which is absolutely sad. We need to do better my people. Let's stop treating each other as rivals and see one another as brothers and sisters. The only thing stopping us from getting along and doing great things together is the jealousy and envy we keep having towards each other. And until we get rid of it, we will remain defeated in every aspects of life.

My brother, Black man has fumbled through it's existence on Earth, sleep-walked into Arab and European slavery, colonialism, and modern day slavery all because each individual is ready to sacrifice his brother to survive. The lesson was never learnt that survival can only come to a race through bonding.

Too much individualism in the black community it’s literally every man for themselves

I just had this same conversation with some folks here in Dallas a few days ago and it seemed like I was knocking down my own people.

It’s the truth, I am a health professional and my profession is white dominated. my own black colleagues prefer to mingle with the white colleagues instead and ignore their black colleagues existence in the workplace. It’s silly, we need to stick together and build ourselves up. We need to be the change!

Ethiopians are one of the few Africans I know that stick together so much. That's why the are my friends. Very loyal and helpful people.

I' am Kenyan and i live in the UK as well and 16 years ago all the Kenyans our community knew came together to start a housing investment scheme. We buy percentage shares in property then each individual owns their percentage .. it was a great idea and houses were half as expensive... If we went through with it instead of allowing petty issues to ruin us we would each be a minimum of a millionaire with the average being a multi millionaire... My Indian friends did it and my family (uncles included) did it and we as the two families do own 2 houses each and of course if we sold them we'd have a few million ... 1.5 all together but.. the rest of them are still renting... The landlord we rented from is Indian and he owns 100 properties.. with his family... Our people unfortunately don't work well together..

Well said. Our customer service etiquette is poor. The perceived notion about Nigerians is also in other African countries. They see us as fraudsters or undisciplined people. It's annoying.

phrankleen ! The envy and jealously is too much here in the US, most times you end up being on your own in order to maintain your sanity.

Look where we’re coming from though... there is no community back home & for some reason we never take the positives and leave the negative wherever we go. The mindset is so unreal & frustrating, like don’t we want any better for ourselves?

You know I thought something was wrong with me. I hatched this thought myself about 3-4 years ago and have since felt I was being unduly paranoid. I'm relived to see people actually feel likewise. I'm not alone!! You cannot carefully go through our history, current and recent affairs and not feel something is intrinsically wrong with us!!!

Nailed it brilliantly, the African mentality SUCKS. I personally think we are cursed. We are a danger to ourselves and we are extremely scared of the success of our brothers, sisters or friends so we would prefer they do not succeed.

Brother, the 'black community' as you said, is itself scary to try to be part of,Jealousy is too strong to mess with, it's actually dangerous. Even the churches are filled with people just categorising folks into classes and oppressive to the ones they don't think will be of use to them. We are never united and almost never supportive of each other. I envied the Arabs and Indians while I was in medschool because the school never used to mess with them for obvious reasons.True story: My UA-cam channel was set up by my white American course mate(we weren't even close). All I needed to do was just explain why I needed it to be an American youtube account(ease of monetisation). it tried thesame with another 'close friend' of mine from Nigeria who lives in Canada. I got the most ridiculous reply ever."I don't have a Canadian number" and this 'friend' started a channel 2 months after that and stopped after a while. We are even already feeling challenged by what we don't really want to do but too scared to give another black person the assistance they need to achieve that aim. It's ridiculous!!!

Can't believe I was getting emotional listening to this....Slot of the points you made have been something I have pondered over for years. Im Nigerian (although born in the UK and married with kids) the only time I see unity in the Nigerian community are for parties and church. I would love us to build wealth together ,learn from each other and grow. It really hurts that we can't do this, I truly admire the Asian community here in the UK no-one can mess with them......

Thanks for the great video Phrank! I'm a Nigerian millenial in the diaspora and was having this same conversation with some Nigerian friends just some days ago. One of them was of the opinion that it is difficult to change adults, and that it is too late for our generation, the damage is way too deep. He opined that the only hope for the black race is the next generation, children that are still in their formative years. We thought he was being pessimistic, but some experiences I have had in the recent past are beginning to make me realize that he may be right.

You are so right my brother. The way our Africa is are you surprised? We didn't care about each other in Africa do you think they would change while in abroad?

Then black men need to establish a system. Imagine we know what it's like here, but we haven't got anything for us.
