I fairly recently fell down the mythic legions rabbit hole mostly because i enjoy customizing them but agree 💯 the articulation blows. Don't know why that bothers some people to hear.
Thanks for not being close minded about the matter galaxy yes some people cannot hear anything other than praise for something they like. To some there's no room for improvement at all, which is pretty sad.
@@ArticulatedNinja Improvement is subjective though. If they, or really any company, believe that they should or shouldn't include certain things, like articulation or soft goods, because of their philosophy, that's fine. You can want certain things but to say that they MUST do something is a bit selfish and self-aggrandizing.
i agree that the articulation ins't the greatest, but it will probably be more than sufficient for 99% of the people. Most people dont continuously pose them in rediculous poses.
I don’t agree that would be improved. You put a gymnast in a suit of armour they can’t pose much. Also it makes sense for a super hero or ninja to be flexible. But an orc in Lord Of The Rings type attire doesn’t need to be dynamic. I personally am not into articulation cuts. I hate the look. I don’t want my toy to look like a toy. It is ok that we are different. I appreciate your videos and opinion. But it is ok to be different

I don't even think it's part swapping anymore. I think they've built a library of parts, and if they updated the figures to modern articulation they'd need to basically throw out 3/4ths of it. It's probably not financially viable for them to do that at this point, and would be almost at the commitment level of launching a full new line. So we're stuck with great looking figures that pose like they really overdid it at the gym the day before.
Right. I heard they were thinking about going with Glyos originally, so it makes sense they prioritized easy customization/pop and swap, but even the Valiant Knight is basically carefully done to allow pop and swap with older figures. That being said they could probably at least sacrifice knee/elbow swapping and update the limbs. That said I don't think many are going into Mythic Legions expecting modern articulation, and there is something to be said about the sculpt not being broken up as much. I mean I think DC Classics still hold up as far as looks go.
@@fujishig personally I don't need full, modern articulation on them, but I do need more than what they provide. Because of that I've only got a few ML, where the sculpt and paint job really come together and pop into something awesome. Random knights and what not aren't enough. Having said that, I haven't fiddled with the valiant knight yet. Maybe he gets over the bar.
You are right. I always get heat when i state those facts, to my mythic legions friends, but for the price we should be getting more and better. I kept 6 figures and sold the rest.
I mentioned in a chat awhile back about adding bicep swivel, double joints, and everyone went nuts on how wrong I was. They’re good, but definitely can use better articulation.
I hate it when I'm complaining about articulation and people tell me that certain parts of articulation aren't necessary. One guy told me that boot swivel or ankle swivel isn't necessary and then showed me pictures of his display and everybody was standing like a static statue so I was like, "looking at your poses, we shouldn't even be talking"
Ill say it. They're not action figures, they're designer figures. Theyre how 4H want to design them, they sell well enough to keep making them, and they have a ton of new sculpts and parts coming out in waves that are in production. No matter how much anyone wants them to be modernized or like another line. 4H are going to keep doing what sells to their main customer base. And have fun doing it.
It's ok to do their own thing but its VERY side-eye to say "oh we're not making action figures buddy, this is a designer figure". Savage Crucible is making action figures. XesRey is making action figures. All the studios churning out Warcraft figures right now are making action figures. 4H doesn't get to side step the category because they want to make the same thing they've been making since MOTU Mattel days.
Yeah it's like when folks complain about Amazing Yamaguchi not looking good in a vanilla pose. 🤣😂🤣 Also, these are NOT premium priced figures. That's Mafex and Shfiguarts territory.
@thechosenone000 so Xesray is making action figures but the 4HM are not? Have you played with them side by side? The new wave of Xesray (which I reviewed), are just as articulated as any new Legion. The Valiant Knight gets better posing than any of the new Xesray figures. Keep in mind that I love them all.
@billybeigecustoms 😂 "designer figures" guess they are not action figures please ignore everything I said in the video then my bad I thought they was action figures 😂🤣. Is there no room for improvement on "designer figures" though (just asking)
@ArticulatedNinja have you ever messed glyos figures? Designer action figures, articulated, use a lot of the same parts with repaints, do limited drops and preorders. That's what this line was made to be. Originally they were going to be in that 3 3/4" - 4" scale. Even use the Glyos joint/peg system. Luckily for 1/12 fans the cost to make them in a larger scale was the same. So after re-engineering some to add hinges into places that were Originally just swivel pegs, we got 1.0 mythic legions figures and the framework for how 4H want their figures to be. Like Glyos. A fun designer figure you can mix with any figure from the line. I know you love articulation, you might even really love legions, but why would want to change basically the founding idea of a line you love, to be like everybody else? Being different is ok.
I totally agree, I love the line, but definitely they are form over function, and many other lines have shown both are possible. Thanks, and keep up the great content.
Articulation could definitely be better, but it doesn't bother me too much. I'm more into customizing than photography and posing. More joints means more paint rubs on customs. The constant re-use of parts bothers me more than lack of articulation.
@@ArticulatedNinja This is a great topic bringing in lots of comments. It's hilarious to me when people get so excited over part swaps and paint variants. Figura Obscura is an exception though. They've been coming with lots of new parts.
I agree with you 100%. Your pictures alone sell them, though. They look cool. I think the Horsemen are more consumer focused more than most toy companies. Like, you can preorder and buy at a discount, or you can just wait and get the same figure a little more, but if you enjoy them, you can get them cheaper by just supporting the small team with a Mezco style preorder at a non-Mezco price. You've proved you can make a good display with limited articulation in this video alone with your skill. From my experience, with no extra monetary value my collection has with things like UA-cam, a good collection just gets a glance from random folks anyways. Anibus chilling in the chair alone looks good and anyone with your accessories would be happy with it. You can get a statue that looks like that at the same price point of both figures, but you have control of the Horsemen figures if you're bored. Figures with a limit that is just your imagination is what Four Horsemen exceeds at and I think Legions fuels imagination even when nobody else in your life cares. Hasbro will sell a slightly off figure that you want just to sell you the same figure again with a figure that you want. The price is different for sure, but the Horsemen don't treat you like a stupid consumer. If you don't want it, don't buy it. You want some random Egyptian Gods with real-life accessories, go for it. If you don't like it, it doesn't matter. You want a popular Legions figure that's at scalper prices? Just wait, they noticed, and will sell you the same figure at a fair price later. The aftermarket have crazy weird prices, but people who just collect for profit can go screw themselves anyway. If you're in love with a figure, there's usually an easy way to get it with Legions through Discord and Facebook. Legions play with FOMO, but what other toy line plays with FOMO with a guaranteed way to get something different later after you have time to think? I think that's why they're cool. I just own 5 Legion figures so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. They're detailed and most collectors probably spent more on a line that just sits in totes now, even with amazing articulation.
I just bought one of the Mythic Legions Dwarfs. I think for me the price was very good for the detail of the figure. I bought the figure to decorate mt Hero Quest Wall. I hope to find a Elf for the wall that my wife likes.
Well spoken and spot on! It is difficult for me to justify spending the amount of money ML asks when you know you are not getting the BEST value for your dollar no matter how amazing the sculpts/paints/details are. To me spending on 2-3 Valaverse/Legions/Classics is gratifying and I already love the characters. After seeing your review on Savage Crucibles I was all in and ordered everything I could from what remained of wave 1. I do agree that 4H are satisfied with their line and they do sell well and are building a Universe of so many characters that the cost of re-tooling to improve knees elbows and shoulders isn't cost effective for them. (Can't explain their animals, they just lucked out on those and got it right). Another line with the very same issue is MacFarlane. He won't the PINS. WHYYYYYYY! Cost plain and simple besides he cranks out 200 characters a year and they get bought each several times. Look at Mercari and see how many new posts hit their daily! It's KRAY-ZEEEE!. But? We still buy them.
I absolutely love the concept of being about to pop and swap parts, being able to essentially RPG built as a novice. He's the thing about them using the excuse for why they don't update the articulation. The observation is overseas and it's from an established company. Just look at the engineering of Mafex figures. Unlike domestic lines, the joints are separate parts from the character molds. Having 2 Spider-Mann figures or any combination of female figure I can swap the shoulders, the necks, the biceps, the feet, the abdomen, etc. It's not even something they were designed to do and yet if I did the articulation wouldn't be sacrificed. The CAN make updated bodies still compatible with the heads, hands, feet, peg in parts and waist accessories. They don't because everyone who collects them enough to go to Legions Con isn't concerned with articulation. In fact, a lot of them will complain about the improvement.
Oh man you are saying exactly what I have been saying I do love the mythic legion figures but man they really really really could have better articulation and I am all about articulation over looks so you're exactly right and I'm glad somebody finally said it so thank you also I love you videos man keep it up
Their reasoning isn’t because it’s sculpt… it’s actually even stupider. They claim that their number one priority is customization. So it’s like a super expensive MOTU origins figure.
Oops, just got to the part where you cover this. I’m pretty sure we all know the actual reason, lack of toy design knowledge, and laziness. Why change something that already sells?
That special knight they recently released was probably their initial foray into more articulation. It's probably expensive, but they can incorporate more articulation into their line over time. Hopefully they remain sucessful because their designs are great.
I only have a couple of their troop builder figures (a little goblin and a little skeleton). I am happy with the materials, accessories and the sculpts and really don't have any complaints about them. The articulation is definitely limited and it would be nice to have more range, but it is what it is and it isn't a dealbreaker for me personally. I got them because I really do like the looks and they are capable of some basic poses. Sometimes, for me, figures look so good that I'm willing to forego some articulation range or other features. I'm just not as much of an articulation junkie as some people, but I definitely understand the desire.
Yea I'm a articulation junkie I guess lol but it's because I do photography and play with my figures if I just put them on a shelf and never touched them then it wouldn't matter they are as good as a statue at that point. But I hear you if posing isn't a big deal then yes just for looks they got that area down packed.
@@ArticulatedNinja Good points! Likewise, if I grab a figure off the shelf to play with or take pics of, I pretty much always grab one that can hit some poses. It's really satisfying when a figure can hit the kinds of poses that a real human ought to be able to do.
I tried using Mythic (as well as Cosmic and Obscura) Legions for my stop motion videos and found out very quickly that was gonna be Alot more difficult then first thought. I tried to create a sword fight between two knights and it just looked awkward. I've recently discovered Mezco figures and my god it's night and day difference. Yes Mezco has its own issues but in my experience they work Alot better for my needs. I've recently bought John Constantine and Gotham by Gaslight Joker for a stop motion video I'm working on and couldn't be Happier. Great video Ninja, Alot good points. Take care

100% AGREE!!! This is why Mafex is so great. They have IMO the perfect balance of great sculpt and articulation. They have found that sweet spot and continue to drop amazing figures.
Mafex has good paint apps but in terms of articulation they're basically just Legends and McFarlane DC for triple the price. The majority of their characters have great articulation because they have no costume impediments. And the armored figures from their Star Wars line have all of the same outfit limitations that the Mythics characters do but for a much higher price point. I think the only thing Mafex excels in is quality of plastic - which that and the use of some soft goods here and there is why they're so expensive.
It's the same reasoning as to why I critique the hips on the 3.0 Dragon Ball SHFs. You lose alot of pose-ability in the legs for... a butt that doesn't even make the figure look any better. That more and more companies seem to be going this route(like many MAFEX figures), worries me.
Everyone must recognize the success of the Mythic & Cosmic Legion action figure line, Figura Obscura too. Despite what you or I or others may perceive as a flaw in their line they are popular & highly successful. We are all intitled to our opinions & I like hearing them. That said, 4H know what they are doing & have been in the game a long long time. They will do what they want & how they want as long as the money rolls in. They listen to feedback, they are intelligent creators & businessmen. It’s obvious they make figures the way they want & you can’t argue with their success. It’s shown they evolve & adapt but they do it on their terms.
Who said anything about them not being successful? Or them not making popular things ? You ended off saying I cannot argue with their success, who was trying to ? Yes they are successful selling the same single hinge articulation they have sold for the last 15 years. They are no longer the only company making mystical creatures and knights that have swappable parts. That being said if they did step up articulation it would make the line even better than what it already is. Most collectors I talk to agree.
@@ArticulatedNinja My comments on 4H being succussful wasn’t saying you weren’t aware, it was just a declaration of fact. Offering low articulation hasn’t really hurt their sales. It’s clear to long time Mythic collectors that they have a chosen method & adhere to it. From their very first Wave of Mythic merchandise to what they are currently offering, there has been some updating for sure. Their soft goods are an improvement & the Knights getting more range in articulation is better. I was pleased to hear your opinion on their figures, your video wasn’t negative & can possibly help influence a path to more improvements being made. But again, they are highly successful so they are likely to follow their own path in their own time. If they were struggling a drastic change would need happen.
@@traviswilcox3472 very true thanks I feel like most of there success was gained during a time when they cornered the market and there was no other companies around now that's not the case. I want to see them still do good or even better than the competition but as they say can't teach and old dog new tricks and companies have to innovate to stay relevant. But yes since they have success already they most likely will keep doing the same old tricks since people will keep buying. Thank you for supporting and clarifying Travis 🙏🏽 I appreciate it.
I agree with you 100% Sir. Having bought a fair few of the Mythic Legions & Cosmic Legions, they all lack a HIGH degree of bend in all joints (especially elbows, knees etc). That said, the Cosmic Legions are adequate ... just. I contacted the Horsemen suggesting increased articulation & they kindly replied saying they were continually working to improve their articulation & took my suggestions on board. Another problem is "distribution" eg: those Egyptian God sets were a no go for me to acquire.
The real kick in the nuts is the video they livestreamed hand-waving away complaints about figures being super fragile and breaking right out of the box, nevermind the dated level of articulation. Def overpriced and an obvious lack of desire to improve anything.
I totally agree with you on regards of articulation. I have almost stopped getting black series figures because the articulation is super outdated. I have been tempted to get some Mythic Legions and the articulation has been the stopper. I cannot justify paying their price without the figures at least having full range articulation...
Here is my opinion on this. They pretty much were the only ones for a long time doing the whole fantasy type with barbarian, knights, and creatures. So only option. Sure we had/have MOTU. But that mixes fantasy with technology, plus a comic/cartoony look. Today, as you mentioned, we have now Savage Crucible doing what we been wanting. Other companies like Loose Collector and Boss Fight studios have potential but need up their game in more figures. And last but not least, the companies that we find in 5k Toys that are also showing how it can be done. If 4H does not up their game, their prior monopoly they had will be all but gone.
They are still the only ones doing knights unfortunately. I love mythic legions, but I can never have enough knights! I wish more companies had the balls to do knights.
@SP8inc I saw a few at 5K toys you may want to check out. Granted, they are pricier. Maybe Savage Crucible might do some in 4th or 5th wave. I'm more for the barbarian and gladiators .
You're 100% right, I've gotten hate before telling people that I believe mythic legions articulation is dated. And I know I've spent over $1000 dollars on the lines, there's not many companies that do medieval fantasy, especially Knights. But ever since axytoys dinosaur battleground and Savage crucible lizardman I have options, and hell even warriors of the animal kingdom series 2 lionesses and lizardmen look pretty good as well. And I never thought I'd say that about that line.
Last Mythic Legion I picked up was the big blue dragon, Arracagor. Beautiful paint and sculpt, but the articulation was rough especially next to the Xes Rey Minotaur and Storm Collectibles Goro. Right now I feel like taking a break from them until the bear comes out.
Thanks for your video, I think the same, I love my FH Sunwukong, but hate to pose it, it's a martial art master and he can't even crouch not even make a split... I'll soon receive the swk front fury toys to compare and review them, articulations will be a big topic, thanks again
I can definitely respect your opinion. I believe it just really depends on the type of collector you are. Some of us love to customize, paint, part swap, etc. Others like to actually play with, pose, and photograph. Neither collector is better than the other, just different strokes for different folks. That being said, more articulation would be great, but if that means more paint rubs, worse sculpts, loose, bendable, and/or warpable parts, I'm fine the way they are. I recently visited the Savage Crucible venue at Comicpalooza down here in Houston. The paint apps and articulation were great., but in my honest opinion, the lizard figures did feel a bit loose and/or less sturdy. We were not allowed to touch the newer human wave, but they did look good. There was also an Animal Kingdom vendor next to Savage Crucible. With all due respect, the Animal Kingdom line looks cheap when compared to Mythic Legions. The Savage Crucible line is a step above in looks, but the feel is just a bit off for me. The owner of Savage Crucible was extremely nice, and full of info. I'm not really into lizards so I didn't make a purchase. The old me in a better economy would have just purchased something because he was so nice. Those other green orcs you showed, while the articulation is wayyy better, they just don't look as good. If they don't look good in video, it only gets worse in person. Those werewolves you always show look phenomenal but for a long time collector like me, and after seeing Animal Kingdom up close and feeling Savage Crucible in hand, I am definitely going to find it difficult to make blind purchases on line ever again. As always, love your channel and respect your opinions. Your arguments are definitely valid.
In my honest opinion, Mythic Legions are exactly that..a healthy balance between sculpt and articulation. I see some great poses in your video here, that show they articulate well enough, but sculpt isn't as compromised as it would be with double joints, extra swivels etc..I think they do a good job of maintaining that healthy balance...where both sculpt and articulation are prioritized.
The first couple ML figures were so static and rigid that it almost put me off buying any more. They could only do museum poses, and just barely that. But now I've lowered my expectations and tried out more of them I'm more okay with them. But when I compare them to other lines I buy ML just gets put to shame. The ogre body is a joke compared to the Xesray minotaurs which are bigger, bulkier, better looking, more accessories, move better, and cost about the same.
These are some of the most static poses I ever did in any video 🤣 I don't think a healthy balance is articulation from 2008 in 2024 figures and companies have come a long way since 2008. In my videos i usually do tons of dynamic poses not much here to do though. But that also explains why even I'm there promotional the photographer can do much but arms up and down legs ups and down. Great for standing in stoic poses though but then again a statue can do that as well.
I collect Mythic Legions and I agree with you. When I show the figures to non-collecting people they say the figures look pieces of art. I don't customize and I feel the articulation is very limited. I started cosmic legions but qc issues and articulation was so bad that I sold all those figures. I hope they keep doing a great job but improve in that department.
I LOVE the line I do. It's allowed to kit-bash, almost, a character from my head BUT - I would like him, and most of my figures, to DOUBLE hold their weapon, particularly the sword, and that does annoy me. I'm keep my eye on this Savage Crucible line though.
I had my fair share of mythic legions and sold most of it and just left 2. I love the sculpts and swapping parts but I hit a wall with its articulation. At first it was "okay" but soon after, I can't get the figure the poses I want to shoot. So , I decided to switch to jada instead.
It's great to hear someone, not afraid to tackle the articulation issues, with Legions. There are far too many shills & youtubers that kiss the Horsemen's behinds. I love the line too, but the Valiant Knight definitely showed the progress that can be/should be made in their articulation. Alot of great points made in your video. Some were repetitions of the same point, though.
Even if they insist on single joint elbows, Star Wars black series has shown you can get more than 90 degrees. Also elbow and knees don’t impact the most important swap points. The swap and pop isn’t enough of an excuse to keep things as they are.
That's fair, knee and elbow should affect swapping. Might affect structure and paint wear, and increase breakage, but it might not if they figure out how to do it well. And I agree, other lines have figured out how to do more than 90 with single joints and look good.
I really enjoy your video. I'm now a subscriber. You said everything I feel like I can't say. The cabal is a very hostile place if you're not just patting everybody on the back and telling them how great they are. These figures are absolutely stunning but like you say when it comes to articulation they blow goats
Bottom line is that they are successful, and their fans / collectors really love figures. I really enjoy the line and I find the articulation acceptable for what you get. I pick up the ones I like, and I have not been disappointed. Every line is different and speaks to different collectors. Personally, I don't need every line I collect to be super articulated. Will they make strides towards more articulation eventually, maybe. But that will mean new tooling, new sculpts, and most likely higher price points.
No one's denying their success but it's no longer 10 years ago when they was the only ones to corner the mythical market. Also no one is asking for "super" articulation found in Asian companies like figuarts, mafex, figma revoltech ect) just the bare minimum average in America in 2024. Almost all American based companies in this day and age have at least double hinge not single, boot swivel , bicep swivel and butterfly joints.
@ArticulatedNinja it's true their articulation is lacking compared to current standards, but being as successful as they are with such a large loyal customer base, there is really no sense of urgency to change what they are doing. They've made a few baby steps with some recent figs, but I think it'll be a while until we see bigger changes if we do at all. I don't think the next year or so in pre-orders shows any real changes in the articulation.
Definitely agree with a lot of the points you made, bro . I don’t collect mythic legions, but I see all your points in this argument . Keep spitting truth ninja & always keeping it 💯✌🏽out fam
You know I feel the same way and agree Beautiful sculpts, paint applications, Accessories game off the chain but it’s time too innovate and progress there line, I wish Mezco would introduce more variant body sizes .
Thanks doc and yea I agree about the mezco line I don't have many but I think that would be nice for them they need some bigger bucks they just revealed there thor and I think he's a little undersized compared to the usual buck cap and iron man is on.
great commentary video bro you make your point solid as rock encased in logic and you remind me all the time in your videos why you re so cool to watch, the poses... I love how I never know what to expect, what cross overs you will do, always looking fab! and those video clips, D I posted this comment on Hasbro pulse I think art should have a bigger place in the community fan posing, dios, pic montages and movies so I thought of a cool and cheap way. Irwin in the 80s came up with a construction kit plastic panels, but the genius was the beams and universal joints one could slide cardboard panels in the beams grooves, and lock with the joints once you have a 'framed' panel, you can combine them to do any kind of box - building introduction to the system I d see a 'build a figure' type of intro here provide 10' x 10' cardboard panels dio background 4 beams and joints once all figs are yours, you have a complete dio - room but.... I d sell kits of beams & joints separately too, cheap 1 10 x 10 panel - door frame cut 1 10 x 10' panel window cut to break the ice, and inspire the beauty is the standard.... in conventions, fans can add - complement each other s bases, cities, manufactures, anything! shelving figures is so sad when they cry so much for action! ha, ha roof - defence cardboard panels panels that have a round cut to rotate turrets - radars I d go C & C defences, all factions - standard cheap turrets gattlings, missiles, lasers, cannons, ect hole and turret bases standard could be used 'stand alone' since the cardboard panel is 'framed' solid to the ground - stable do not ask what Hasbro, the community can do for you... ask yourself what you can do for Hasbro and the community God bless America and world peace! so now you know... good luck in your mission team what do you think?
Well worded thanks for sharing , personally I think those guys over there at the top don't really take advice or recommendations no matter how sound and great the advice is. No doubt! I couldn't agree with you more, especially at their price point. Savage Crucible, is gonna give them some hurt, right out the gate! Sad, really sad. That's why I stopped collecting their products and moved on to better lines. Preach...Ninja!!!
I dig Mythic Legions just the way they are 🤷 It's just the way they chose to engineer their product. Same with Mcfarlane toys. I buy/collect Mythic Legions mostly for the look of the characters and the paint/sculpt details and soft goods. There's so many other figure options in the market right now that if one brand doesn't offer the options I want, I just buy something else. And when all else fails, I kitbash and customize it to my liking 👍 I agree with your observations 💯 but personally I just don't have the time to focus on what something could be and instead I make it into what I need 👏
I agree and I hear I'm in the opposite crowd I don't have the time to always have to make something into what I need I like It to be what I need right out the box 😁 for me it's 2024 single joint hinges on standard figures just doesn't cut it and almost every other company knows it.
@@ArticulatedNinja they are pissed that you have a following and a voice to state the obvious ..someone share your link to this video in a Mythic legions group and you could feel the hate on that post..it was like how dare you Question our fine and poor articulation ...when anyone brings up a conversion about better articulation they remove peoples post out of Mythic legions groups
Glad that you made this video. That was the main thing that made me sell the Legions I had and deter me from buying so many that I otherwise would have. Hopefully they can start making a change. Double jointed limbs at least to start with
For someone who cares so much about articulation im surprised you don't own the recent AYs, at least i dont see any videos on them 3:30 "if you care more about sculpt than articulation, go buy statues" Disagree. There are plenty of toy photographers who pose and shoot. Just because you (I also) like to put our figures in thtese crazy looking dynamic poses in scenes, doesn't mean that is everyone's cup of tea. Some collectors/photographers like to pose in more minimal poses like the one you did at 2:58, where they set up a scene and tell a story etc. Not everything is about fighting other figures. You say "can we have both? Can we meet in the middle?" Well, to Mythic Legions fans thats what they are. They believe that is what meeting in the middle is. Look at Dorklair on UA-cam, Mythic is his favorite line, he certainly thinks they made the perfect balance. I know almost all of your fans basically agree with most of your points every time. Hope you take this comment as constructive criticism or a conversation, not trying to attack you. I barely comment on your vids but this time I had to make a counter point (even if my fave line is AY)
Hey bro nice point of view. I dont see anyone talk about this. May you tell me which figure did you show in the art of the video? The one with dark short hair next to anubis.
I know going into 4H figs they’re not going to be highly articulate. So the only ones I buy are preferred sculpts and accessories. I would love if they added more articulation though. As such I’ve only bought four 4H figs so far. I love fantasy and sci-fi related content so that’s my only draw to 4H.
2:37 thats funny because even with Joytoy figures i collect a lot of there warhammer figures and even the bulkiest largest figures have really damn good articulation especially the double joints i do know if you collect any of there figures but they do stuff which some companies fail to do.
Speaking of articulation, I got my first figma yesterday and I love her articulation. She is so small and extremely articulated. I could actually get her into a locked in triangle choke pose. That's definitely a first for me
I mean all that articulation takes away from the appearance. That's just a fact. Didn't the 4HM specifically want to focus on their sculpt and design rather than sacrificing appearance for articulation? Butterfly joints and all these double jointed knees/elbows dont look great. The figures you point out dont look better than the legions. I have the Memory Toys Orcs and they are awesome but they also dont look as good on a shelf with all the articulation cuts. I have a SC Lemurian and the toe hinge makes him fall all the time. I wouldve preferred the figure without it. The "go collect statues" is a really bad take. I like doing photography and I can pose my legions up. They arent static figures and have movement making them action digures. For example, the POA being 10 as opposed to 50 doesn't make something more of an action figure and classify it as such. Some of us like some articulation and are happier having a great looking figure with less articulation. Seems weird to take the time to make this video bashing the articulation while having a one sided view on the topic.
I guess cuts either bother people or dont but this idea of less cuts makes a better look is a little iffy. If looking at a cut bothers you, sure, but a few things - 1). All these figures are starting to come with a lot of soft goods to cover them along with companies like CJesim and MaxBird to make soft goods for them too. 2). There's very little dynamic posing that can actually be done with Legions as they exist now, so while a cut may bug some, a large display of mythics tends to look like a bunch of 6 year olds in snow suits. There's just not much you can do to make them look interesting Unrelated, the SC slate feet do suck but they talked about it on their stream and actively working to find a solution. Can you IMAGINE the response from the ML cult crew if you brought up critique in a stream chat? They put you on the wall in the FB Cabal let alone in a live chat
@thechosenone000 I can guarantee you that my display of hundreds of Legions doesn't look like kids in snow suites. Plenty of rational people ready to talk about any faults with Legions. Me and my 2 buddies from the Cabal do it all the time. Just because there's a fraction of people who are defensive doesn't speak for the entire community.
@EricCKeys im glad you and a few buddies can talk but I've seen that group... it's not a small fraction. It's a lot. But even more important, it's the senior members and the guys that hang out with 4H crew. It's awful to have your most senior fans and people close to the studio be the worst guys
Nailed it. I was very interested in legions when I first came across them, a friend of mine is really into them and as soon as he let me handle one, I knew they weren’t for me
This is the main reason why I don't buy them. When I look at the reviews the articulation doesn't match the price point. I do have their Monkey King on pre-order as that's one of my favorite characters, but that's an exception to my rule. Maybe it will open me up to more of their figures.
Agreed, I gotten two figures from them Eagalus and Half Giant and yeah their articulation is sub par at best. Come on Mythic Legions step up the articulation so that you're on level with other lines 3rd party and domestic.
I only have like 3 Legions but Why not just let people be happy with whatever they collect? Yes, articulation is always king. But if the true fans of the line are happy with it as is, why not just let them be? For 4H to still be up and running, they’re clearly doing something right with their fans. No one is saying “the articulation is perfect”. But the fans are just happy with it as is. No need to tell them to collect statues or criticize 4H for being “15 years behind.” Let them do their thing. Just like Hasbro/Mattel/Tamashii/etc do their thing. If you don’t like it, don’t collect it. You can critique it but be respectful.
Whole heartedly agree...dated articulation holds them back. Fantasy warriors and mages but can't get them in iconic poses. The same goes for S7. I have the Tcats but can't get Lion-o into his iconic pose. Looks pretty, but dont get down and dirty.
All facts how we got mythical characters and can barely get them into those mythical poses usually it's just a simple arm up or down in most photos I see or just the stoic stance 🤣
Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respect how you feel me personally I’m ok with the articulation I get from them and I enjoy the pop and swap customization I can do with them . Not everything is for everyone and in the golden age of action figures there’s a company out there that has something that pleases everyone . I always follow the rule of what you eat doesn’t make me shit . Just make sure you pick up my tribute when it drops 😂.
They're fine, I don't regret any of the purchases, but go in with the right expectations. You get a lot of accessories (usually), and pretty nice paint but you sacrifice a lot of articulation.
100% Ninja..I've been saying this for years ... LOVE Mythic's aesthetic but I am highly selective due to the junk articulation. If they would improve that BOOM! they'd blow up even more ...
I completely understand Articulated Ninja. I can be very finicky when it comes to articulation. Maybe, Mythic Legions might consider doing a 2.0 in the near future for these 2 characters with upgraded articulation.
Single jointed elbow or knees can have double-jointed levels of articulation if they are cut properly and have long enough joints, Hasbro has actually shown this fairly well with some of their new releases such as the Black Series Ki-Adi-Mundi for instance. Also, most double-hinged elbows won't allow for rotation and don't allow for part swapping (easily at least) at the elbow itself, but rather at the shoulder socket. Same for the knees. Pinless makes it even complicated, lol. There are pros and cons to both, and both can be fully articulated and look nice if designed and cut properly. Personally I think it comes down more to engineering and implementation more than a specific kind of joint being the limiting factor. Butterfly joints also need to be designed and cut properly to both function well and look nice.
Another terrific video, Ninja! I’m a casual collector of Mythic Legions. I avoided the line for years after having a horrible experience with the QC of 4H’s Gothitropolis figures. After watching some reviews, I decided to try the line and was pretty pleased with the quality of the figures I purchased. Like you, I found the articulation scheme lacking. I like posing and photographing my figures in dynamic poses and fight scenes. Mythic Legions are beautiful but very limited when posing them in anything other than very vanilla poses. I’d gladly give up some of the interchangeability for a modern articulation scheme with more ROM. I would buy more of the figures if they did this. Otherwise, I’ll continue to pretty much stick to buying just their beast figures and use them with other better-articulated figures.
Never bought mythic legions. That single elbow wouldn't be bad and would add more range if the cut was deeper. In my videos shitting on suoer7 i mention that. I like the henge and swivel elbow, but if the cut was a bit longer these figures could get a little more than 90. But they dont want to do that, so they might as well do doubles
I've noticed with a majority of my Mythic Legions purchases have a collective problem: super loose joints. Because of this, I've stopped purchasing their line. But sometimes, I'm sorely tempted.
I don’t collect this line but I’ve been into toys long enough to know this basic principle: we criticize because we want to see something be better that we KNOW can be better. It’s that simple.
Until recently I hadn't even heard of these figures and haven't paid much attention to action figures in general. Then I watched a review and was intrigued. I got the Blue Hagnon and love the glow. Got Ilgarr then. They look great, but I just don't feel all that excited. I keep getting the feeling that these figures can't/don't do much, which bugs me. Have I mentioned they look great? Still, 50€ spent on each and having mixed feelings is not great. While the articulation is lacking I also worry I might break something, since the joints are quite arthritic.
@@Plainbrain24 I have felt the same and agree , they look amazing but compared to what else is on the market today they can't do much. But still look beautiful.
I don’t have any legions… there has been a few that I was like “I want that!” Then I realized that they are older and stupid expensive now. So no mythic legions.
yeah i stopped collecting them a long time ago. if you have a diorama they are very limited for posing so it just doesnt look very good. no reason to have more than a few.
Yes other than arm up or down not much you can do with them that will look natural but neutral standing poses they look great but they are definitely looks over function.
I really like Mythic Legions. Their figures have great sculpts and paint, and they are great for customs. But I do agree, their figures would heavily improve with some double jointed arms and legs, more neck articulation, and definitely butterfly joints.
I’m just here to enjoy the show, some stuff from 4C I’m happy with like their sculpts and their Christmas stuff (I like Holiday displays). Then there’s things I’m not crazy about: the insane mark up, the single jointed limbs and loose ankles. Nothing is immune from criticism and if you’re happy, you’re happy, don’t take things too seriously.
Mythic Legions are great, gorgeous, with a lot of heart and soul put into them. Love the kitbashing options. Sculpt, paint, and accessories are definitely the meat of the line. But... they have Super7 articulation. That's another line & maker that tries to put sculpt/likeness and accessories ahead of posability.
You're absolutely right that the articulation from Mythic Legions could be better. I'm actually still really looking forward to the Bast figure; but for me, I'm excited for it DESPITE the mediocre articulation. The paint, the sculpt, the accessories are just so good. I definitely would LIKE more articulation, and it would make me feel happier about my purchase; but for me, the level of articulation is a little above the minimum for what I'd consider an action figure, so it's something I can live with. I get where you're coming from though, since everyone's going to draw the line in different places for 'minimum level of articulation to count as an action figure'. Like I said, even though I am barely satisfied with the amount of articulation on Anubis and Bast, I would still like more; so I hope for all our sakes that Mythic Legion improves on that front.
To me the figures are a homage to the original Masters Of The Universe line from the 80’s. Even the articulation is similar. That’s why they reuse so many parts & have over sized proportions. Honestly they’re my favorite figure to collect due to the endless possibilities of customization/ story telling. They’ve never needed to be articulated much for me considering they mostly stay posed in static positions anyways. I say the 4H are doing it right by pleasing a certain demographic that grew up not needing much articulation & got most of the joy from the lore behind the characters.

Even before I watch the video I'm going to asume it's the articulation.
🤣
I don't even think it's part swapping anymore. I think they've built a library of parts, and if they updated the figures to modern articulation they'd need to basically throw out 3/4ths of it. It's probably not financially viable for them to do that at this point, and would be almost at the commitment level of launching a full new line. So we're stuck with great looking figures that pose like they really overdid it at the gym the day before.
🤣🤣 good point and reference
Thanks for sharing yea hopefully they continue improving articulation because they definitely need 2
Which ones did you keep?
@@beej5 a Forest Troll, Ice Troll,2 Vitus,Duban and Bolthor. I have them in my Neca D&D display
😂 ninja woke up and chose violence today
I mentioned in a chat awhile back about adding bicep swivel, double joints, and everyone went nuts on how wrong I was. They’re good, but definitely can use better articulation.
I'm not surprised people went nuts over a suggestion some people defend feelings and not facts.
Facts 😂
I mean I guess it's not necessary when all you gonna do is leave em in 1 standing pose (like a statue) 😂🤣
If u use maximum ankle pivot range, u'll understand calf swivel. If u don't, u don't. 🤷🏻♂️
🤣😂🤣
Also, these are NOT premium priced figures.
FORM OVER FUNCTION very well worded G thanks I will add that to my ever growing vocabulary
I agree with you on the double jointed knees and elbows. But if I don't mind that it's missing, that doesn't mean I'd rather have a statue lol
@@metamorphomisk I don't think he's close-minded.
They are not for everyone, and thats okay
Articulation could definitely be better, but it doesn't bother me too much. I'm more into customizing than photography and posing. More joints means more paint rubs on customs. The constant re-use of parts bothers me more than lack of articulation.
True reuse since they been keeping things the same for the most part for the last 5 years. Just different colors .
I believe it why improve something when the same product will keep selling for 10 plus years
@@ArticulatedNinja couldn't have said it any more elegantly myself, Ninja.
🤣 exactly starlord why improve the meal in 2024 when people will continue to eat the same meal from 2008 thanks for supporting
This is why I dont like Super7. Shitty articulation for expensive figures is a no go for me.
It's a no go for most of us zel you not alone 🔥
Super7 figures are normally clearance figures....
That special knight they recently released was probably their initial foray into more articulation.
It's probably expensive, but they can incorporate more articulation into their line over time.
Hopefully they remain sucessful because their designs are great.
Yes design are great just the function isn't. Focusing on mainly Designs and sculpts are great for statutes not so much for figures.
They did reuse and imcorporate the Valiant Knights artuculate limbs now for the 2 2025 Knights coming out.
Good point

100% agree, 4H needs to step up, they would DOMINATE if they have ML-level articulation while maintaining sculpt and paint!
Yes they would dominate but it's cool if they don't someone else will.
The real kick in the nuts is the video they livestreamed hand-waving away complaints about figures being super fragile and breaking right out of the box, nevermind the dated level of articulation. Def overpriced and an obvious lack of desire to improve anything.
The Thrace legs one... That made me mad. They were such jerks about $40 figures breaking. It took 72 days to get a replacement leg in the mail for me.
It's almost as if they feel. " We've already got your money who cares what you think"
Yeah I assumed this is what the video was gonna be about, I don't collect 4H but even I heard about that mess.
I agree with everything. I appreciate your articulation argument and how you really hammer on it. Hopefully Four Horsemen get the memo.
I get two all ins plus every wave and I could not agree more!! Preach!!
Facts Jesse 🔥
valid opinion and I fully agree, but they sure do look awesome on display no matter what.
Facts mongo yea comparing them to any Asian based company will definitely result in mythic legions losing overall.
I agree 100% percent. I have legions and like the ones I have, but since there is no real updates in articulation the line has ran its course for me.
Thanks for your video, I think the same, I love my FH Sunwukong, but hate to pose it, it's a martial art master and he can't even crouch not even make a split... I'll soon receive the swk front fury toys to compare and review them, articulations will be a big topic, thanks again
Fury toys will most likely destroy them in articulation 🤔
Same here I love mythic legions and have a bunch but more articulation would be better I wish they could be more like the red orc from memory toys
Wassup SG those memory toys orcs are gonna be hard to beat them things are nice 🔥 I appreciate you supporting thanks 🙏🏾
Neca has that balance with better articulation than MLegions (and Neca´s articulation is horrible)....
I agree, Thanx for saying what we won't and don't say.
Dawg as soon as I heard ur take on articulation over detail I was quickly reminded why I'm a channel member 🗣️SPIT YO TRUTH KING🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate that! 🙏🏾 Thank you
I LOVE the line I do. It's allowed to kit-bash, almost, a character from my head
BUT - I would like him, and most of my figures, to DOUBLE hold their weapon, particularly the sword, and that does annoy me. I'm keep my eye on this Savage Crucible line though.
Yea majority of their characters are sword holding characters that struggle to get both hands on the sword in most poses. I agree 💯 percent.
Some were repetitions of the same point, though.
completely agree. i want my figures to be as articulated Romankey & cowl figures
I see mythic legion at friends toy store, but never bought one so thanks for letting us know what it is
Even if they insist on single joint elbows, Star Wars black series has shown you can get more than 90 degrees.
Thank you yes looks like you are right about the cabal at this point as well the figures do look beautiful but suck in articulation
Thanks doc and yea I agree about the mezco line I don't have many but I think that would be nice for them they need some bigger bucks they just revealed there thor and I think he's a little undersized compared to the usual buck cap and iron man is on.
great commentary video bro
you make your point solid as rock encased in logic
and you remind me all the time in your videos why
you re so cool to watch, the poses...
I love how I never know what to expect,
what cross overs you will do, always looking fab!

I posted this comment on Hasbro pulse
I think art should have a bigger place in the community
fan posing, dios, pic montages and movies
so I thought of a cool and cheap way.
Irwin in the 80s came up with a construction kit
plastic panels, but the genius was the beams and universal joints
one could slide cardboard panels in the beams grooves, and lock with the joints
once you have a 'framed' panel, you can combine them to do any kind of box - building
introduction to the system
I d see a 'build a figure' type of intro here
provide 10' x 10' cardboard panels dio background 4 beams and joints
once all figs are yours, you have a complete dio - room
but....
I d sell kits of beams & joints separately too, cheap
1 10 x 10 panel - door frame cut
1 10 x 10' panel window cut
to break the ice, and inspire
the beauty is the standard....
in conventions, fans can add - complement each other s bases, cities, manufactures, anything!
shelving figures is so sad when they cry so much for action! ha, ha
roof - defence cardboard panels
panels that have a round cut to rotate turrets - radars
I d go C & C defences, all factions - standard cheap turrets
gattlings, missiles, lasers, cannons, ect
hole and turret bases standard
could be used 'stand alone' since the cardboard panel is 'framed' solid to the ground - stable
do not ask what Hasbro, the community can do for you...
ask yourself what you can do for Hasbro and the community
God bless America and world peace!
so now you know...
good luck in your mission team
what do you think?
Well worded thanks for sharing , personally I think those guys over there at the top don't really take advice or recommendations no matter how sound and great the advice is. They only focus on numbers and once sales decline is when they choose to listen but if everything over at Hasbro is running smoothly they don't really care.
@@ArticulatedNinja ha, ha, thanks bro, I m sure you re right, but I m only starting my campaign, it s in it s infancy, I knew you d be interested as an artist. and things change. thanks!
@@ArticulatedNinja you know their habit well, but I see you re a guy like me, you want evolution, you re not satisfied with the current trend, D, as an artist, I see and sense it in your pieces - poses, you re a trekkie at heart, 'go where no one has gone before' an adventurer, a Joe... ha, ha. same here bro, and we shake things up, I m very persistent, one fig to the next will just not do for guys like us, we deserve a better world, and we re going to have it! thanks bro
No doubt! I couldn't agree with you more, especially at their price point. Savage Crucible, is gonna give them some hurt, right out the gate! Sad, really sad. That's why I stopped collecting their products and moved on to better lines. Preach...Ninja!!!
Even with the lack of articulation compared to other lines their sculpt & ability to customize is what got us hooked.
"go collect statues" me when someone tells me they don't prep there customs😂
🤣😂
Double jointed limbs at least to start with
For someone who cares so much about articulation im surprised you don't own the recent AYs, at least i dont see any videos on them
3:30 "if you care more about sculpt than articulation, go buy statues" Disagree.
Exactly! You would think his favorite line would be Amazing Yamaguchi.
🤣😂🤣
Hey bro nice point of view. I dont see anyone talk about this. May you tell me which figure did you show in the art of the video? The one with dark short hair next to anubis.
Looks like betty page cleopatra action figure form dark horse with marvel legends quake head
I agree but I still love mine
There's just not much you can do to make them look interesting
Unrelated, the SC slate feet do suck but they talked about it on their stream and actively working to find a solution.
And that's why I sold all of mine
Hoping to get Bastet on the aftermarket. I really want that one.
Shes beautiful I don't think you will regret it.
@ArticulatedNinja I picked up that dragon guy you reviewed....Awesome look, BUT it stands guard like a bouncer lol.
@@alexrosado3933 🤣😂
Well everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respect how you feel me personally I’m ok with the articulation I get from them and I enjoy the pop and swap customization I can do with them . Not everything is for everyone and in the golden age of action figures there’s a company out there that has something that pleases everyone . I always follow the rule of what you eat doesn’t make me shit . Just make sure you pick up my tribute when it drops 😂.
I don't have any Mythic Legion figures but they look nice, especially the horses. I'm thinking about buying a couple of them. Are they worth it?
They're fine, I don't regret any of the purchases, but go in with the right expectations. You get a lot of accessories (usually), and pretty nice paint but you sacrifice a lot of articulation.
I just like their mounts. I've got 2 boreus, the red Krampus, Santa Claus and blue Hagnon. But that's it. The horses are the best available.
Agreed I only grab Mythic deluxe scale figure like the trolls and ogres. No need for the mounts but I will grab the bear
That bear looks to damn good 👍 I'm right there with you my friend
All facts deluxe scale Minsky at this point for me as well
100% Ninja..I've been saying this for years ... LOVE Mythic's aesthetic but I am highly selective due to the junk articulation. If they would improve that BOOM! they'd blow up even more ...
All facts ed 👌🏾 it's the only area holding them back compared to almost every other American line.
I completely understand Articulated Ninja. I can be very finicky when it comes to articulation. Maybe, Mythic Legions might consider doing a 2.0 in the near future for these 2 characters with upgraded articulation.
True fever 2.0 with minor updates in articulation I think will do the company very well
Single jointed elbow or knees can have double-jointed levels of articulation if they are cut properly and have long enough joints, Hasbro has actually shown this fairly well with some of their new releases such as the Black Series Ki-Adi-Mundi for instance.
Damn the figure are dope but it is high price but this 1 is worth it and the awok line is good price to afford
Facts
How much the price rise if they "fix " the articulation
Good point lol idk
Chad 🤣 you stay quiet you get enough smoke from there man children online you dont need anymore 😂 I appreciate you thank you.
I have three. Almost have to preorder them to get them, and comparatively they're expensive.
Yes I enjoy their older design more as well
Best Figura Obscura yet. Amazing. Although I did have to soap them and air them out. Anyone else get that VERY STRONG smell off them?
Damn, I was about to get those 2. Should I still get em foreal bro?
yeah i stopped collecting them a long time ago. if you have a diorama they are very limited for posing so it just doesnt look very good. no reason to have more than a few.
I love the figures the articulation sucks but for the customizing is why i collect them i do agree with u
I agree. Cheers 😁💯
One question. Where did you get that alternative head for Bastet?
I don't even see an option to order these Egyptian figures on their site! Where is the link to buy?
It was a two day sale. Now the figures will solely be available at conventions
