Great car what we need more of in this over priced car world. Why people drive over priced tech laden speed tanks around in a city when they only average 10 mph has always baffled me, if i had to live in a city this is what i would buy. Great review as ever Thomas👍👍
Here's the dilemma. Do you go for a New Dacia Spring or a Renault Zoe from 2020 and 30k km for EUR 14 000? It is always great to have more affordable EVs for the city and I like the back to the basics approach from Dacia, but where do you draw the line? Thanks for mentioning the safety aspect Thomas. Brilliant review once more, Thomas and it's great that you address the safety ratings which very few reviewers do. Some people refer to manual window winders as "keep fit windows" so I'm looking forward to a future review where you can slip this into the script.
Good review or perhaps preview since there was no driving. Sometimes it is worth being brought down to earth on what is essential and not in a car, and this does it. The UK price was suggested as starting for the mid range trim at about £15k. If you fill up every night or at work a range with a radius of 40 miles or so is not a problem not just for city drivers but for many country ones who do most of their mileage locally. In a small country like the UK this covers a lot of use cases. There is a lot to admire about this car, though I hope I never have to drive one….
I think sales have spoken for the Dacia Spring. Many people just don’t care about non essential premium features. They want something basic. Ask Dacia Spring owners. They just live their car.
I think the price should be even lower. For 20k you already get couple of years old Peugeut e-2008 or Nissan Leaf for example. But if the car really needs to be a new one and you have only 20k then its the only option at this moment
The comparison should never be between a used and a new car. With that logic, I shouldn't get a new Yaris because I can get a used Audi for the same price.
@@carlosrivera3260 Depends on the age and km you're comparing with. You can't compare a 5 year old car with 200k km with a new car, obviously. But a 1 year old with under 50k km? Why would a 1 year old car be on sale, what's wrong with it? And it's lost a year of warranty, smells of previous owners bum and won't qualify for low APR. 😂
@@dauerwerbesendung7045 yeah, the Citroen is bigger, much faster (111hp) instead of the miserable 45hp or 65hp of the Dacia, has a much bigger battery (44kWh), can go quite a bit further (320km/199miles) and looks better (in my opinion)

It’s such a cute car, looks good too! Thanks for the detailed review, I always turn to your channel if I’m interested in a car as I know it will be good!
A lot of the bad decisions on the inside are fixed, it actually looks nice now for such a cheap car and stuff like LED lights and V2X on such a cheap car are fantastic (cough cough VW). Maybe it can have heated seats now so it can come to the nordics officially?
Will it last? - The days of treating cars, and all other manufactured objects, as throwaway products needs to come to an end. To me, it is important to make cars that last longer and that people want to keep for 25 to 50 years. Building cars is very energy demanding. Safe, desirable cars with a long use lifespan would go a long way toward reducing pollution.
I really wonder if they actually implemented battery cooling / heating this time, but it does look much better than previous version, especially inside.
Lots of new videos on the Spring. A very welcome update for a very modest car that's still not available in Ireland and Great Britain. My biggest bug bear is that it's not aerodynamic enough and PR and white collar people demanded it should mimic an SUV. I'm confident that if the Spring had serious aerodynamic design like air curtains, wheel shirts and caps, aerofoils, longer spoilers, diffusers, molded roof - it might look like a Prius C/Aqua but that's for the better for EV range. Dacia should seriously consider making an Estate Spring, not just for space & practicality sake but also because a longer car with an appropriate descent angle up to 12° would offer a much more aerodynamic flow for air to depart from the body. Seems like a no-brainer, but VW didn't see any sense in making an estate eUP. VW didn't even see sense in keeping the eUP in production if it wasnt in a class of its own and the ID3 delayed hy software bugs.
Affordable, but... here we go again. 20k EUR is too much for the "car" that basically cannot go outside of the city and getting cheaper extremely fast because of the battery degradation. I would say about 10k would be just right price for it, no more than that.
This is a city car and most of its owners use it as such, which means they drive less than 30 miles every day and at an average speed of 25 mph. The yearly savings on fuel will offset the price premium over a period of 5 years.
Is how a city car should be. But than we can’t show off, as today world is all about showing off , so we need a big SUV that doesn’t even have space in the city car parks
The "grille" looks like top down view of Paris or something; and the side windows, side mirrors, and door handles seems shared, but everything else inside & out are new. So, deep facelift?
you know what is your driving position??? you have to extend your arms till your wrists lineup to the top of the steering wheel, and you have to press the pedals all the way in, to make sure you can reach the pedal fully. Does he do that in the video? No! So stop saying the car is small for a driver. If you get in inside of a car and drive has you wish, is a different story babe.
My driving position isnt far away from the steering wheel and I always set the position so i can fully press the brakes. You cannot judge when you re not present
@@autogefuehl if you don't want to be judged then Turn off your comments babe, I only believe what I see, and what I see is you, doing nothing that I've said. Is like me saying I always eat a cookie before shooting a video, I can be lying but there is no proof of it, cause no one can see me actually eating the cookie.
This is a very good presentation of the car. Unfortunately for Dacia, I think the Citroen eC3 will drive the Spring off the market, unless they decide to drop the price under the 20K EUR threshold.
I doubt that with exception of the roof all parts are the same on the exterior. I get the new front and rear ends but clearly it still has the same side mirrors and doors.
Missing the price... for 20k eur it's ok I guess. My only true concern : safety. But very soon the BYD seagull is there, and the Spring loses all interest
Except for the size being unusable for northern Europeans, I'm actually positively surprised. Also manual window cranks are really all that's needed, can't remember when last anyone put the rear windows down in my car.

Seems like a no-brainer, but VW didn't see any sense in making an estate eUP. VW didn't even see sense in keeping the eUP in production if it wasnt in a class of its own and the ID3 delayed hy software bugs.
It will come in UK too
Surprisingly you haven't done a review for the Renault Austral .Are you going to do one ?
Affordable, but... here we go again. 20k EUR is too much for the "car" that basically cannot go outside of the city and getting cheaper extremely fast because of the battery degradation. I would say about 10k would be just right price for it, no more than that.
Delusional
200km range is somewhat generous for being unable to go outside the city. It could be much smaller for a true city car.
Battery degradation tends to be a non-factor for the majority of EVs, especially with at home charging.
It's 12 000 euro in Germany. But there is too much limitation. 9 hours charging time, 200 kilometer travel time.
NiCe Facelift
james may will approve!
This would be a great car for new drivers. Or a cheap second car if you need a backup car.
125miles is way to low as that would be realworld of under 100 even for the price. EVs should be a minimum real world 150 miles
This is a city car and most of its owners use it as such, which means they drive less than 30 miles every day and at an average speed of 25 mph. The yearly savings on fuel will offset the price premium over a period of 5 years.
Thomas, YOUR KNEES ARE INSIDE YOUR NOSTRILS! It doesn’t matter that the rear seat has enough headroom at that point 😂
Important: don’t take this as a jab at Dacia. Cheap EV’s are needed and it’s good to see that Dacia is paving the way.
My 2016 Fiat Tipo has manual back windows too!
Romanian Fiat Panda. Like it, not enough range to replace my e-Golf
Cracking little car
Nice car. But the term ''City EV'' or especially ''City SUV'' always make me laugh. Because cars don't belong in city centers actually.
Nice video! we add it on evtest!
If it priced under £18k or under ₹9Lakhs in India will be successful after its Ice version
As much as I'd like to posess power and luxury, this is the direction we all shall be taken.. Not those 3000kg 800hp 3-4x overpowered 0-100kmh
Is how a city car should be. But than we can’t show off, as today world is all about showing off , so we need a big SUV that doesn’t even have space in the city car parks
When the market says that an affordable EV is over 20k and has a range that forces you to charge it every day....oh man...
When the cheap electric has one of the best controls...
The "grille" looks like top down view of Paris or something; and the side windows, side mirrors, and door handles seems shared, but everything else inside & out are new.
So, deep facelift?
When is it coming to India, we are waiting for it with open arms !
first I thought someone put a toilet brush holder between the front seats
This one is now looks great
Does this Renault Kwid meet crash test regulations or is it a death trap like the Indian or Brazilian versions?
Bad crash results
Tomek, have you mentioned the price?
new one is not out yet, but something 20 k + again
In South Africa we have a petrol version of the Spring, and it costs around 9000 euros. I'm not sure why the EV is double the price.
It is available here in India too. We owned one. Used to turn like it was on rails. Loved it.
batteries?
@@tooltalk no the petrol version.
@@tooltalk still struggling to see how a 26kWh battery costs €10000
The Renault Kwid.
Wait for Hyundai Casper EV ;)
that little yellow one is so sick
Damn Dacia, U crazy ❤️ love it
It has a „screen cleaning“ mode which my Taycan doesn’t have 😅
you know what is your driving position??? you have to extend your arms till your wrists lineup to the top of the steering wheel, and you have to press the pedals all the way in, to make sure you can reach the pedal fully.
When does the emabrgo on the RENAULT 5 lift ??
Early next week, stay tuned right here and activate notifications!
@@autogefuehl can't wait 🥳
They should start doing this model with petrol engine
OMG, looks like the car of Lord Helmchen 🤣
RHD, For your Irish friends too
For sure 🇮🇪
@Autogefühl is the platform the same ? it look to me like it is a CMF-A Low Specs. Thank You
This is a very good presentation of the car.
If the turn indicator still can't click rhythmically then I'm not buying. It sounded like a broken toy.
