Hershey’s is traditional and have been based in Hershey, PA since they started. I think most of us start off with Hershey’s as children and move on towards pricier chocolate if we can. But, there’s nothing wrong with a Hershey kiss in my world 🍫
Mornings when you drive through Hershey, PA, you can smell peanuts, chocolate, processing aromas in the air when roasting peanuts in the plants. I hated to come out of an early dentist appointment with fresh clean teeth, wanting to rush to buy Reese Cups but knowing I shouldn't.

I would never say Hershey is the best chocolate in the world, but it has always been an affordable treat. Living about an hour away from Hershey, it is always fun to go to Hersheypark, tour the chocolate factory, especially during the Christmas holiday! Ghiradelli is one of my favorites especially the caramels. There are many other great chocolate factories in the USA. See's candy in San Fran, Asher's in Pennsylvania, and so many more. These do not sell candy bars, these are boxed candy, which to me was always elevated from a standard Gas Station candy bar grab!
Butterfinger peanut butter cups are my favorite. I like them much better than Reeses!
I use to not like Hershey’s chocolate as as kid but now I love it.
Hersheys is definitely not the best chocolate in America, but it is one of the most affordable. Ghirardelli is definitely a treat! Dove is a close second.
The only time I eat Hershey is literally when I make s'mores, really purely for nostalgia purposes. Ghirardelli is my go-to, and I often buy the individually wrapped squares in an attempt to limit my intake. Lol
Hershey’s is also traditionally a lot sweeter and that’s what more Americans prefer. I’m not into it at all, I go for dark chocolate and I have expensive tastes lol

Agreed. Hershey's is not good quality chocolate, but cheap and easy to use for smores. Ghirardelli and Godiva are so much better!
A quick price comparison between the 2 using roughly the same size bar (looked like a 3.5 ounce bar to me) as you had in the video resulted in...
Hershey's = $0.36 per ounce (0.31 Euro)
Ghirardelli = $0.62 per ounce (0.53 Euro)
In America, we know there are better chocolates than Hershey's. So SO many choices. We enjoy them very much. However- Hershey's is an American tradition. It's one of those things you grow up with. Hershey's Kisses in your Easter Basket....your Christmas Stocking... Sometimes you just love to go back to it out of nostalgia. Kids tend to like the taste of Hershey's better. Then we grow up and tastes refine.
Hershey's is waay better than Palmer chocolate. Palmer's barely tastes like chocolate! It's the kind used in most of the cute chocolate Easter Bunnies.

Ghirardelli is definitely more expensive chocolate bar wise. I prefer it or Lindt chocolate 😍 Also freeze the Milk Duds and eat them that way and its better!

Yes, most candy sold in a movie theater in the USA is in a box. The common exception is Twislers which are only sold in bags anywhere you buy them in the USA.

Yeah... to the point that now you can find special combination boxes for s'mores with a special large size (why wouldn't it be?) Hershey's bar that's cut into the same size as Graham crackers and extra large marshmallow puffs that are shaped to fit as a flat sandwich that same size. A little too much, if you ask me.
You need to try s'mores made with peanut butter cups!
And that its way cheaper than the better stuff lol

Hershey's chocolate has been around for a very long time and it's to me the poor man's chocolate it's made very cheaply with cheap chocolate ingredients Where As guard Delhi chocolates or higher class chocolates they are made with better ingredients that are sourced better there is many like chocolates like that here in America that are made like out of special the shops that make their own chocolate goodness Such as this place sees . Com I live half an hour away from Portland Oregon and this places in a mall and they make some really fine chocolates

Melissa Smith I think it’s also an availability issue. Ghirardelli is less likely to be found in convenience stores. Just grocery stores and stores like Target.

Just so you know the Guradelli milk chocolate and caramel bar you tried at the end, at Walgreens, like a pharmacy here in the US, is $2.99 which is not that expensive, but it is more than Hershey’s chocolate. Also to Kate, if you like peppermint bark around the holidays, they make the little squares and the bars of both peppermint bark with the milk chocolate and the dark chocolate for both you and Alex. They make a bag like that has a combination of both in it, but those are the best if you either want a sweet treat or if you crush it up and but it in a mug of hot coco. Yum!

Especially when the pudding sits for a day or so... the cookie does go into a sponge texture and helps thicken the pudding. So delicious

When I make banana putting, I mixed some Nilla wafers in with the pudding. Then when I serve it, I add a few to the top. They get softer after a bit of time in the pudding and then I like the crunch of some of the fresh ones on top.
InTheKitchenWithKate I also like making banana pudding fluff. Where you add nilla wafers, cool whip, and marshmallows.
I love watching you guys try new things. Kinda makes me wanna step out of my comfort zone and try some British snacks.

There is a Ghirardelli shop in Buena Vista, Florida, AKA Disney Springs near Walt Disney World. I was fortunate enough to be able to go down there last December. It was the coldest week of the year in Flordia and the weather was in the 60s. I had a Ghirardelli hot chocolate that was amazing!!! Best hot chocolate I've had in my life hands down. I would drink that standing in the middle of the desert at midday in the summer.

You're correct about the Nilla Wafers in banana pudding - they do soften. The best banana pudding is made a day ahead of serving so the cookies have time to get all mushy and yummy! Kate, you should do a video making American banana pudding and then y'all can taste it - my favorite recipe for it is called Not Yo Momma's Banana Pudding (it's a Paula Deen recipe)
P.S. - you *are* pronouncing Ghirardelli right. The Gh makes a hard G sound.

They don't swell like the lady finger sponge/biscuits.. They do soften like a rich tea biscuit would swell.
San Francisco native here. Glad you guys liked our chocolate =). Ghirardelli is definitely a higher end chocolate brand whereas Hershey's is the average consumer brand. And because it's cheaper, it's typically the go-to choice for smores or hot chocolate. The only Hershey's I'd eat by itself is the cookies 'n cream.

Yes! Salted Nut Roll is so superior, especially if fresh. Sadly, where I am they're not as common so when I find them they've been around a while and are hard.

The Hershey’s is less expensive. For a while the Ghirardelli chocolates weren’t available all over. Now you can find Ghirardelli brownie mix, cocoa powder for cooking, a veritable cornucopia of products from that brand.
I did wonder if Hershey’s was cheaper. Thank you for letting us know ☺️ ah that’s funny you should say as I first saw Ghirardelli as baking chips and thought it was just a baking range. Loving seeing the other chocolates they do!
It's quite a bit more if you think about how you can get a pack of 6 Hershey's for $2.99 or maybe 2 on sale. When you're making s'mores, you're always going to use up at least that many bars, so it's the difference between a snack for the whole family that costs less than $10 (if you add in the price of the graham crackers and marshmallows) and having just the chocolate for the snack cost $18.

Love these! This was a great box- lots of my favorites. Ghirardelli is the best chocolate. I don’t eat Hershey unless I’m desperate. The size you got is around $3.50 -$4.00 US. Worth the splurge though. They make these amazing truffles that literally melt in your mouth.

For the vanilla wafers if you have a Dairy Queen in your area when you go to get a blizzard request one with vanilla wafers

@@ThisWithThem It's my dad's favorite. We got the recipe from Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk which we mix in with the vanilla pudding to make it super sweet. Then we layer that mixture with vanilla wafers and then bananas. The funny thing is when I make for myself, I leave out the bananas. Banana-less banana pudding.

The way I grew up eating milk duds was at the theater. Eat a milk dud and warm popcorn at the same time! :D Salt and Sweet! Yum!

You can buy Ghiradelli in bags of individually wrapped squares that are perfect and are often used in Smores. I've seen people use York Peppermint Patties in Smores as well as Peanut Butter Cups. I almost never see anyone use regular Hersheys in a Smore anymore. :-)

You'd be surprised how many people I've come across who reply " How close is that to Richmond?" When you tell them you're from West Virginia. Then the priceless look on there face when you say its a different state. Also being accused of having a fake ID bc the hotel clerk has never heard of WV...true story.

Birthday cake oreos are yummy, combos pizza flavor are tasty, goldfish are good in any flavor. I love pringles, nilla waffers are yummy. Yummy oatmeal pies and starburts gummies and i love starbucks jellybeans. I dont really care for milk duds but they ok. I love dove. I love pay day even though i hate peanuts. Mentos are yummy. Gharidelli or how ever itd spelled is yummy. I need that whole box of snacks. Everything in it i love.

A lot of people think that when you say 'West Virginia' that it means "western" Virginia BUT in actuality we have our OWN state! Lol. We are home to the West Virginia Mountaineers GO WVU! As well as the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains! A little FYI...the reason they play 'Country Roads' by John Denver in airports is actually kind of morbid. John Denver died in an airplane crash... Hi from Virginia USA. After watching your videos for a few days I decided to subscribe. I love combos but I haven't had them in a while. I enjoy seeing what people send you. Most of the items I've heard of and have even tried.
PayDay is my all time fav. IMPORTANT TIP : don't waste your time on the chocolate covered PayDay. It is a huge letdown. There really is a worse chocolate than Hershey's, and they use it.

Ghirardelli Caramels are hands down my favorite chocolate. They’re about $2.99 and available in most grocery stores and gas stations. Hershey’s is gross.

I live in St. Louis and we have them in the candy isle pretty much everywhere you go (Walmart, schnucks, etc.) And the gas stations usually carry the single squares. It’s crazy how different things are across the different states (:

Your videos have prompted me to try candy or snacks I’ve not tried here in the U.S.A. I have ordered your candy box and am anxious to try what you’ve compiled. The lemon Oreos, not sure you’ve tried yet, with the golden cookie are absolutely amazing. They are in a “thin” format which lessons the guilt in eating them!
