Hakeem does understand that DMo is lefthanded right? It seems like he should be teaching him these moves on the opposite block. Example: on the right block, Hakeem shows DMo how to spin to the middle for a fadeaway - but for DMo this is a jump hook. Also, for those bashing DMo for losing the ball: Hakeem is doing the moves slow in the video. DMo is trying to do them at full speed, which is great and the point of practice. If DMo was going slow like Hakeem in the video, I'm sure he wouldn't be losing the ball - but he also wouldn't be improving. You can't expect these moves to be effective in an NBA game if not done at full speed
Very raw ? He is well developed, has a bunch of moves, can shoot with both hands, has a great sight and runs like a gazelle. All that work with is paying of.
I love watching hakeem, but my understanding of travel is that u must release the ball before lifting the pivot foot. He does it so quick it's hard to tell, but u can get away with it in the nba because they don't call travel. Did hakeem play well in fiba comps?
in the 96 olympics hakeem didn't get a chance to post up a lot, he had to split time with shaq and david at center and the team was just so dominant that fancy post moves weren't necessary, so no he was not repeatedly called for traveling
D Mo needs to listen and take notes first before applying the footwork and that spin. And before anything else... please D Mo, start slow before doing it faster.
DMO is having a hard time keeping the ball in his hands. It's not just at the beginning of the video, it's every time he plays. Maybe too much pressure in the hands, maybe trying to do everything too fast.
The essense of dream's skill set is his footwork, it is firm yet agile, but D-Mo is trying too hard that he does not leave any room for adjustment, so that the opponents can easily defend him. And that is also the reason why he tends to lose the ball so easily, not his "Small Hands"!
D-Mo needs to improve on coordination heavily. I think this is heavily evident in this video. His ball to dribble ratio just isn't there 100%. I don't think this is a huge problem though, I think it can be fixable for him, because he's still so young and eager to work. However, D-Mo is still heavily a development, and getting minutes off the bench would still serve him better, but at this point T-Jones off the bench makes more sense. If D-Mo can work out those kinks, he can definitely be lethal.
He doesn't have good enough control when he is making moves in the post like this spin move. He also needs more balance, which are two areas Hakeem will help
I watch the Hakeem teaching videos and think to myself, WTF is so hard about these moves (on their own)? Damn near anyone should be able to do them and this guy was having trouble with a simple jab step, spin move (he's much better today btw). It's putting together a series of moves, fakes and feeling/setting up you're defender that's the hard part.
+TyroneNBAFan Nah its not easy at all there is a lot of feet work in this plus you have to muscle out your defender in the match and you still have to make the shot. Your feet, and your shooting hand needs to be relaxed while your upper body Is fighting the defender.

I disagree. The purpose of doing the drills slowly is to improve 'the basics' of his footwork, coordination & dribbling skills. Once you get the basics down pat... then you can speed up, as you get more comfortable. Don't believe me? Well think about this... when you FIRST learned to ride a bike... did you learn how to ride while moving at 'top speed'... or did you learn to keep your balance while moving at a pretty slow /or moderate pace? If you just jumped on a bike for the very first time in your life....and took off pedaling at a breakneck pace... then yes, I would agree with you more. But from the video it was clear that DMo needed to work on his handle in the paint... so Olajuwon was showing him how to master his footwork without losing his balance, or losing the ball. (It's kinda like he was teaching him how to 'ride a bike' in the paint, so to speak.)
+Daniel Richards putting on a few pounds of muscle all around your body can only make you more mobile, not heavier and slower, it's a myth (tested it on myself)
GREAT to see Dmo learning from the great legend Hakeem
Hakeem flow like water
what an honour that would be.
hakeem would still put up 14-10 i todays game at age 50
That’s the greatest execution of hakeem’s moves i’ve seen so far
Practice makes it perfect. Keep at it D Mo!!

Looks like he could still average 15 and 10. In 25mins of play
that's why he's training. btw he's still very young u will see him playing more and more
yo lets just put hakeem in the game
Learn from the master.
he learning my friend learning
hell be starting soon
nice
D Mo is still very raw but has the potential to be a great scoring big man
Very raw ? He is well developed, has a bunch of moves, can shoot with both hands, has a great sight and runs like a gazelle. All that work with is paying of.
Well DMo is still a raw material. Hakeem shows polished moves
Maybe D-Mo needs to hold the ball with 2 hands when he spins
Now workout with KP
Could he put up 9 and 5 in 14 minutes?

he don't understand the moves because is european and in europe these moves are traveling, but in nba they don't call them
I think it's cus his hands are smaller than the Dream
Why can't the dream just start at pf...
u guys can see some real improvements on D-MO in this season. before he hardly does a spin move..
D Mo needs to listen and take notes first before applying the footwork and that spin. And before anything else... please D Mo, start slow before doing it faster.

D-Mo is the best !

I think when you're 7"2. It is kind of difficult
Kevin Cai hakeem is 6'10 not 7'2
Hes 6'11"
Atlas24gh nah he said so himself he is about 6'10
+TyroneNBAFan Nah its not easy at all there is a lot of feet work in this plus you have to muscle out your defender in the match and you still have to make the shot. Your feet, and your shooting hand needs to be relaxed while your upper body Is fighting the defender.
The Ball is like an hot potato in Motiejuna's hands hahaha

Peter Miller Sorry. I cant read your holy bible
Vassil Zaitsev - I was responding to the other guy. Not you.
guess
lol just for the heck of it. that'd be epic.
Dimo spin on toes like Hakeem, not heels!
d mo needs more work on defense..
i don't think we should focus on him having a lot of finesse moves now.
Yes, those are the things he is working to improve on...duh
at least there's still a hope...unlike with howard...
BETTER THAN howard
DEFINITELY better than Dwight
Oh really?!! so why you're not in NBA??
the white. the black must me Motiejunuas
LIETUVA
once dmo puts some muscle in him, he will be deadly
guitarsANDcars39 or maybe he will lose mobility and be slow as fuck
+Daniel Richards putting on a few pounds of muscle all around your body can only make you more mobile, not heavier and slower, it's a myth (tested it on myself)
+Rpl5555 Yeah but you are for sure about 6", we're talking about a 7 footer here..
dmo cant hold the ball
to be honest, motie is acting like a robot.....
Hakeem: "oh man this nigga is whack! impossible to teach ..."
embarrassing to watch , but gl next season DMO
Just sign Olajuwon for this season instead of this bum
cia tavo komentaras vapse ne i tema lol xD
tai tebuvo nuoroda i paceso auklejima, be jokios asmenines nuomones. bet ne adidasiniui suprasti
