Transcript:
Our story begins with Captain Olimar, a 2 centimeter-tall pilot of the S.S. Dolphin, who decides maybe he needs a break from his work at the Hocotate Freight company. After a delicious carrot soup dinner prepared by his wife, Captain Olimar takes off into the stars with his trusty ship. But while on his interstellar vacation, the S.S. Dolphin smashes into a meteor and crash-lands on an uncharted planet. With his ship shattered into 30 different pieces scattered across this strange world, he resolves to rebuild the S.S. Dolphin and return home, but not before realizing that the planet's atmosphere contains oxygen - an element poisonous to his species!
Fortunately, Captain Olimar comes across a plant-animal life-form even tinier than him that resembled carrots. Captain Olimar named them Pikmin, after his favorite brand of carrots, Pikpik. These Pikmin came in a variety of colors, each possessing their own unique qualities. Olimar takes it upon himself to also name Pikmin nests after another vegetable, this time onions. The Onions produce new Pikmin seeds and protect other Pikmin by storing them inside and lifting off during the night away from hungry predators.
And so, with his new multi-colored carrot friends and their strange onion spaceship, they race against the clock to recover 30 ship pieces in 30 days, after which Captain Olimar's life support system will fail, exposing him to the poisonous oxygen!

@@necrozma8853 check upload date this was in 2012 pikmin 3 came out in 2013 before pikmin 3 we didnt know the wraiths caused olimar to crash and koppai named the planet pnf-404 not hocotate and we name met a koppaite before pikmin 3

I remember giving up on the first one when I was younger because my first blue Pikmin died and I had no idea what to do xD Up until then though I was enjoying it, it is a good game.

It's fun, and quite difficult. Probably my favorite gamecub game.

I dont think it it's possible to win this game on the first try without a guide. You'll run out of time and die. I beat it on my second try, knowing where all the parts were helped save time. I beat it with about 5 days left.
+Brandon Judkins Pikmin is a deceptive game you see the flowers and the cute lil shit and think. Ohh this will be easy! Far from it. This a strategy game through and through. You also have to be careful of the population of Pikmin too. Run out of Yellow. Oh shit. Yes the Pikmin have a limited amount of population your army isn't endless.

The one thing that's always confused me about this game, ya know other than everything that confuses me, is that the onions have to leave the planet at night to protect them from predators... but the predators are always around, and usually always awake, is night only a problem because like, the predators can see in the dark and pikmin cant or something?

Yes it is. That's literally the entire point of Pikmin 1. At the beginning, it says that the planet's atmosphere is poisonous and he only has 30 days before his life-support system runs out. Since the planet is Earth (or at least it is a lot like Earth because all of the continents are exactly the same and there are human products like boots and batteries left behind), then that must mean that oxygen is poisonous to Hocotatians.

I understand my question was vague..but you gave me the right answer..I assumed it was his crash ship peace he had left that contained life support..in which he would have to go back..giving the reason of him ordering the pikpik around due to his lack of mobility..but since it's only his advanced suit with the life support I now understand the time issue..thanks :3

Photosynthesis is the production of glucose (source of food for plants). Oxygen is the gas plants breathe out while they breathe in carbon dioxide.

It think it's fair to say our good captain is kind of enslaving pikmen for his own ends, granted they get to eat allot and expand their numbers. What's the ultimate outcome for this? The captain gets his ship ready, the pikmen amass outrageous numbers eventually, take over the planet, then begin conquering new worlds out of cockiness when the captain is gone and not available to guide them?

It's a volume issue,plants all over the world convert CO2 using sunlight,water and some minerals into O2 on a vast scale while volcanoes expel mostly CO2 in a comparatively small scale,however many times more than what Humans can.

I played this game when I was like 10 or something. One time, I messed up and like 60% of my pikmin were killed in an explosion. It made me so heartbrokenly sad I couldn't play anymore.
And nothing would be flammable as there's no oxygen and the aquatic organisms could live in acetic acid. Brilliant!
Oxygen isn't poisonous to humans. We know nothing of Hocotatians. For all we know, they could breathe helium on their planet. (If they existed.)
Did you know, the reason Captain Olimar's ship is called the SS Dolphin is because the GameCube's code name was Dolphin, this is likely an Easter Egg.

You have a point there... I guess it doesn't necessarily have to be oxygen. I guess I'll have to google a little bit and figure out where I even got the idea that it was oxygen... Okay, I found a quote from the beginning of Pikmin 1: "To make matters worse, my atmospheric sensors indicate this planet's environment contains high levels of poisonous oxygen." I think that's pretty directly saying that oxygen is poisonous to Hocotatians.

Except it's undeniable fact because the treasures in Pikmin 2 have the names of companies on Earth and a treasure is a human baby doll and another is a locket with a picture of a dog inside. Miyamoto also said himself that it was Earth after human extinction.

Yes but the point being after photosynthesis, the carrots will give off oxygen as a waste product. But then again, maybe they just grow them in a greenhouse.

A lot of people question the "poisonous oxygen" thing, but as the video says, oxygen is poisonous to "his species." He is not a human, he's not even earthling. So yes, it is possible for an alien to negatively be affected by oxygen based on the fact that they are adapted to a different environment.

The first Pikmin was always my favorite.
Carrots do need oxygen, although they assemble it by photossynthesis. They break some carbon dioxide molecules into oxygen, which they release into the ecossystem, and, at night, they breathe, generating carbon dioxide while consuming oxygen, creating energy needed for their everyday life.

lore refers to the events that happened before the game that lead to events in the game, i dont see how there could be more lore if in the video they tell you how the events of the game came to pass, but if i am mistaken, please enlighten me
