Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai is not an experience I recommend to anyone. Regardless of your familiarity with the series, I can promise you that this is not worth the time. Even fans who love the source material will get nothing positive from this title, as the miserable gameplay loop and surface-level storytelling will do nothing to initiate or enhance anybody's love for the IP. What is here is more representative of a mobile game's structure, with a console coating that's mostly deceitful above all else.

This is disappointing because of how great the game looks great visually! Thanks for the honest review.
Yeah, I finished the anime remake, loved it, and thought the trailers looked great!
Man.. I’m trying the game out myself. It is a shame that the game didn’t fully adapted the story, but I do get why
Weird how this game looks good but the gameplay falls short while DQM3 looks like a monkey's arse but the gameplay is really good.
How about u guys just play it ( or at last check other reviews )and don't depends on one silly reviews. Game is good.
@@TheArcticMoon looks like other reviews are not too favorable either. I might get it on a deep sale in the future. Some people don’t have enough expendable income to buy all the games they want, so waiting on reviews helps to make educated purchases.
wow this one hurts....
Honestly not surpirsed always looks like a cash grab
People really should check the devs
90% of anime games are cash grabs my guy I found out the hard way so I skip them complety now and I love jrpgs
actually Anime games begin a cashgrab is is not just recent, they been a cash grab since the SNES and Sega Genesis days.
It's okay if something is a cashgrab, but this is just a pig with lipstick.
To my core. I am so hurt
You know you are too attached to a franchise when hearing that a game in the series is bad makes you wanna cry.
💯
My only hope is dragon quest monsters 3 for now
@@granzedora The DQM demo is super fun

I can’t say I’m surprised and I almost grabbed a digital preorder on GMG for a discount, but something told me to wait. I’ll definitely buy it one day when it’s $20 or less.
I was thinking same thing. $25 tops and I’ll buy it
I pre-ordered it on the eshop and I regret it...can I cancel it before it go live?

Damn I think this is the first time I've seen Noisy Pixel this brutal in a review.
funny, this is a small budget game, Square Enix probably gave them less money than even the likes of Star Ocean get! yet this reviewer complains this seems more like mobile games. Not sure what he was expecting.
@methedemon it's not priced like a small budget game

This must be truly bad for Noisy Pixel to slam it so hard! This channel is fair and usually looks for positives even if a game is bad. You are definitely saving people some money!!
I don't think so. They gave 8/10 to SAO Alicization Lycoris. And that game really deserves a 4.

Totally agree that they should have made an original adventure using the Adventure of Dai characters & world.
I watched the anime a while back & it looks like the game just rips scenes (as still images...) straight from it.
The biggest problem I have with the game (& why I stopped looking forward to it after trailers) is the lack of exploration.
This is so sad, man. I was really looking forward to this game as a full experience.
The in-game cutscenes looked great in the promo material, but I can see now why they were so short.
While I understand some criticism against the game because it is simply facts (level design, missing story, cutscenes), I strongly disagree with things like gameplay since I've tested the game myself at TGS. People should still keep in mind that every disapointment stated in this review was already shared in gameplay and livestream by Square, so what did you expect from an anime adaptation They didn't lie to us, just watch more presentation and gameplay. Then how a game that has the same structure (chapters, no level design, and screenshot cutscenes) even worse gameplay (1 button mashing no customization, 4 characters in story mode) and even less hour (5-6 hours of playtime) and no challenge at all gets 7.5/10 by Noisy Pixel ? (I'm talking about Demon Slayer).
Not saiying the game deserve 10/10 but I will definitively try it myself as a 30 years fan's of the source material! Review should be an opinion with subjective and objectives elements in it to help us understand what is good and what is wrong in a game, but your conclusion is just saiying to people "don't buy the game even if you are a fan" whereas you are not even a fan yourself? I usually love these review but this one feels so biased, just saiying surface level opinion that has already be shared through official game presentation and telling people how to think is trigerring. Also no mention of the Challenge mode that seems to be the most interesting part of the game.
Said everything needed to be said, thank you.
You are totally right.
Guys its really not that bad. I don't know what the reviewer was expecting but if you had been following the game and knew what it was and was ok with a low budget arena based action game with gorgeous art style then you will find some enjoyment here. Personally I love my 7/10 Japanese games I think the dragon quest logo gave people false expectations here.
Has it even released yet? Htf would you know?
@@morriganrenfield8240the games coming out tomorrow
This is bad even for low-tier games.
Exactly, waiting for a Daï game for at least 20 years, didn't expected a game in the range of other Dragon Quest; it's pre-ordered and im not scared at all. The reviewer said he was unfamiliar with Daï, so he mostly don't get touched by the memories and nostalgia attached to this childhood anime (which is only getting global recognition since 3 years at best). Not that he got it wrong on gameplay feedback but come on, Skyrim the worst game i played in terms of feedback but i enjoyed the story and exploration so much. Here, im not expecting huge areas and exploration, that's not what they are doing in the manga, it's always linear and im sure we'll get most of the areas recreated. He should have mentioned the game doesn't cover the whole manga.
Die hard fans are never saying no to a Daï game, the mobile one was fabulous, this one will be cherished too. With it's obvious flaws! :)
Do you have to play through the temple to get xp to beat the story mode? Also how long is the game?
Does anyone know how long this game is? I was hoping it would be mentioned in the review.
i was like should i get this or fate/remnant now I know i won't be getting this one since it's look boring
About to watch the review, saw the title and majority of comments… I’m sort of glad I had no real expectations but was open to trying out a new DQ game since XI. With too many games on the back burner and several more that I’m eagerly anticipating in the next 6 months, I guess this one probably won’t be one to prioritize.
Damn, such a shame, I was actually looking forward to this one as someone unfamiliar with Dai.
Omg just check other reviews or play it yourself... game is actually not so bad this guy just don't like it.
I’m a Dai anime fan and I think the game is really enjoyable and cool looking
@@_gonzalitokiYeah! People are hating on it for small reasons and probably haven’t played most of it or much of it at all. Thinking that all they have to do is spam one button.
I might try it out. I had it on my wish list for awhile.
@@TheArcticMoon How long does it take to finish the game?
Guess now i know why there wasn't any demo of this game.
Naw he is wrong. If you love the anime you will find this game enjoyable. It has many flaws but just being a big fan of this anime would make the experience worth it

Wow i knew something was up because square-enix barely advertised and skipped a western physical release. I really wanted this one but what kept me away from the physical copy was the 60$ price tag plus shipping.
Square Enix not advertising a Dragon Quest in the west is nothing new.
Them not advertising dragon quest is just weird all round. I mean, remember how they pushed 13? And that game seemed like it had a budget
@@flashergoldpower15dragon quest 13? The main series is on 12.
@@chr1s415 I’m talking about the one that came out. That’s 12? Idk shit, so please correct me right now. Ah I know where I fucked up, I meant the older one, DQ11. 12 is in development. Definitely had to double back and google it.
@@flashergoldpower15 also the west hardly ever advertises dragon quest in general.
will u do fate/remnant next
This seems pretty polarizing.
I’ve seen people saying it’s a can’t miss action RPG. I’ve seen people saying it’s pretty barren. I’ve seen people saying it’s lush and full of life. At a certain point, it’s just up to me (or you, the reader of this comment) to decide. I’m going to pick it up, as I’m a fan of Dai and DQ. I’m hopeful it does well enough to warrant dlc covering the rest of the story. Won’t get my hopes up for that, but I’ll enjoy what’s here regardless and look forward to finding out what the game has to offer.
I only got a few minutes into watching a full walkthrough before I stopped with a bunch of questions. I absolutely love the anime aside from the "Oh no! So-and-so is in trouble! Good thing Such-and-such showed up at the last minute to save the day!" trope that happens so often. It is very much formatted to translate well to a full-blown game. But the questions. "Why is this YT video only 10 hours long? Tales of an Elusive Age was 80-100 hours!" "Why are there a bunch of slideshow cutscenes giving a Reader's Digest summary of the anime?" "Why does the UI look so generic?" Within the first few cutscenes, I feel like that could translate well to several hours of gameplay. This could have been really good, like the Seiken Densetsu 3 remake, but with all the exploration removed, it immediately came across as a hastily thrown together cash grab. So it makes a lot of sense when I get to my first question: "Why am I just now hearing about this?" I don't think there was any confidence in this game to begin with. It's a real shame...
I’ve been waiting on a review video for this game!!
Honestly it’s not a bad game at all. People aren’t playing the game right?
I beaten it and working on the end game content and I’m still entertained.
And to let you know. All I did was the temple once in the beginning and beat the game. It’s not that you do chip damage. You’re just not playing right. The temple is there in the beginning to help if you struggle I suppose. Dodge, parry. Level up your abilities.
I literally didn’t have to back track to do any level grinding. I’m on the harder difficulty.
The temple is end game content for challenge mode mainly I’d say.
I'll still get it when it's 5 or 10 dollars. I always love to try games out, sometimes I end up liking them way more than what the media made it out to be, like The Order 1886. Absolutely loved that game.
Order 1886 got so fucking good towards the end. I'm so mad we're not getting the rest of the games
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Exactly! The world they put together, the characters, the performances, the solid gameplay, the graphics, the atmosphere; it was all amazing. It should’ve had a trilogy! What a wasted potential.
Treasures wasn't exactly amazing either.
Come on, SE. This is Dragon Quest. *Dragon Quest!* This is gaming royalty and should be treated with a high level of pedigree, whether it be mainline entries or spin-offs.
All the recent dq spinoffs Have looked like total shit honestly. The new monsters game legit looks like a 3ds game.
Hopefully they finally decide to hit the emergency button and bring back DQ8 on modern consoles
No wonder this doesn't have a physical version in the west.
Fate Samurai/Remnant review when?
So, I've finally gotten my physical copy and played it for 6+ hours by now.
And I just gotta say that it wasn't bad.
It's just like any other anime-turned-into-games scenario.
It really just depends on your preference of games or how much of a fan you are of this series.
Sure, the story was condensed immensely to a narration style with the occasional cutscenes, but apart from that, everything's exactly what they showed us in the trailers.
I mean, seriously. What else would you be expecting after all those trailers? A BOTW-like open-world?
It's obviously a game with limited budget, but it plays really well.
If you're looking for a game with exploration, then you won't find it here. It's literally just pure hack n' slash fun.
Square Enix is a company with Limited Budget?
Game with limited budget but sell for 60 dollars
Right.. i like it too
Just because it's Square Enix doesn't mean they have high budget for every game they spit out.
And it's not uncommon to sell items that's worth more/less than the price.
That’s unfortunate but kind of thought something was up considering no retail release in the West.
Watched the anime series. Will this help me to feel the games more acceptable?
Im sorry, but what makes it technically passable? Are there frame rate issues? Crashes?...
I was really wanting this to be good. Ill wait for a few more reviews to see what they have to say.
It's getting trashed by everybody so far....best score I've seen was 7

I have not read or watched the anime. In that regard would you say If someone has watched the show or read the manga the game might be better or would you say even fans of the manga and anime would be disappointed. This is a genuine question as I have access to watch the show on crunchy roll but don’t want to bother with either if this game is this much of a let down. I was rooting for this game but seems it just is bad. I love dragon quest and played the old gameboy dragon warrior monsters as well but I don’t want to even play this game if it’s as bad as you are saying. I trust this channels opinion a lot.
Damn I am hyped for this aswell!
I absolutely love the anime. So this one really hurts
I’m looking foward to playing this today I haven’t messed with dragon quest much this looks fun tho
I really hope they give it another shot with greater depth, I just watched the anime and it's begging to be a 100 hr journey with distinct and memorable party members/roles. I do like the idea of it being an action hybrid, but considering how the anime is written it's clearly an homage to the classics.
😢 was getting Ni No Kuni 2 vibes from this one....why you gotta break my heart with this score, Noisy Pixel?
As a huge fan I would still get this but only on a sale since it could have been much better than a mobile game on console!
I’m sad… But well, this looks like Trials of Mana. I been wanting a game that has that kind of vibe, with focus on “tough” combat. We will see how I like it. I find myself liking games that other people don’t generally like anyway.
I was looking forward to playing it on the weekend but oh well. I kinda had an inkling it wasn’t gonna be received well after watching the recent TGS presentation
Oh wow! This review surprised me. I was hyped for this game as i love Dai so much! I guess i am gonna buy this game on a discount rather than full price physical copy Thank you Noisy Pixel for your review! I always trust your reviews.
Wow this is unfortunate. I was looking forward to this since I loved the anime. I'll wait for a deep sale and get it on PS5.
As someone who loves Akira Toriyama's work, and who is looking to get into Dragon Quest, is this game worth it?
Yes
Not really disappointing to me. Honestly, the only Dragon Quest games I really like have mon-taming in them. It always gets kinda frustrating seeing all those cute, charming designs used frequently for villains, so maybe that's why.
Thanks so much for your integrity as a reviewer. Something seemed off about this game, so I’m glad I held off. A shame to hear how scathing this review was.
I didnt even know this eas a thing was this a stealth drop. I was so excited when i seen it and to on find out how vad it is. I can't believe after 6 years this was the dragon quest we got... It looks a lot like the trials of mana remake style i wonder if it was the same team. They should have done a turn based battle system what dragon quest is known for.
So u saying I should play balan wonderland instead?
I bet this was intended to be a mobile game but they have to pivot to a full release halfway through. It's very much structured like one.
I'm not sure about this review. I'm watching the anime cuz I understand that this game synergizes with it so I understand the purpose. But as a review I really didn't learn anything. For a game that's abysmal I didn't hear any abysmal issues just "I didn't like it" which is fine for a personal taste but I needed more from the review. So I guess the review and the game has something in common
I mean "I didn't like it" is literally what reviews are. They are just the reviewer's own personal opinions, that does not mean that everyone needs to agree with them.
@@ninetailedfox579121 true but "abysmal" is a different level altogether tho which requires more detail in my opinion
Damn I wanted to add this to my collection. I don't think I've seen a review this low on this channel.
It sucks that they didn't stick to Toriyama's art style. It's one of the selling features for me in Dragon Quest.
Welp, that's disheartening. I was going to buy this this month, but I guess i'll stick to DQ Heroes 2 that I have for years and still didn't manage to play.
Wow, based on everything I’ve seen I’m skeptical of your review but I guess I’ll find out when I play.
This is far from a 4. Understand the game didn't fullfil your expectations as you were looking for something 'deeper' as an RPG on par with main entry DQ games or FF, but simplicity =/= bad game. 4s should be reserved for games with awful performance, full of glitches and bugs + bad production quality... but that's not something you will find in this game, not even performance issues on Switch.
This game is not an RPG, but rather an action RPG closer in resemblance to Trials of Mana and Ni no Kuni 2. Is that a bad thing? Not really. Could've been better? Sure, but the source material is so niche that's understandable as to why Square would rather make it simple than spend tons of years and resources on it.
that's unfortunate alongside DQ monsters having censor outfits hopefully DQ3 remake and DQ12 will be good
I just picked it up as an early birthday present. I'm gonna enjoy this regardless.
Surely people would have learnt from Asura’s Wrath about how to make a decent visual novel with awesome gameplay in between?
I honestly feel like we’re going backwards rather than forwards.
Figured that it'd be bad back when I saw the first gameplay but wow
Ugh I was looking forward to this game too.
Guess I will just wait for the star ocean remake coming soon enough!
I was so excited for this release after 11…guess I’ll buy a switch for the upcoming monster game
Thank god for Noisy Pixel reviewing the games that no one else is giving attention to. I was going to get this day one, but I'm glad I didn't.
I'll definitely pick this up but if I can find it within the $10 range LOL
I can’t say I’m shocked. I saw the gameplay trailer and immediately got worried
now thats a rev i was waiting 4
This game needed to be more exploration based with more of a trials of mana type of outline. What a missed opportunity here. Prob buy it on switch when it goes on sale.
Oh no 😭😭😭😭 wish I would have seen this before ordering a physical off play-Asia 😅. I incorrectly assumed “it’s dragon quest, it HAS to be good!”

I'm still interested in playing it, just not at the initial 60 dollar price tag.
Oh this is so sad, i was really looking forward to this game. When i saw the trailer my thought was it was gonna be structured like Trials of Mana, but the fact that it's set up like a PS2 anime based game is severely disappointing for me, thanks for saving me money Noisy Pixel! @@donutsama285 What i mean is the game was made with it's Name brand in mind more then anything then having a good time.
@@donutsama285 I'm not questioning the validity of the show, i'm just saying licensed games often have a habit of being lazy especially in the early days. One of the laziest aspects is just taking the bits of the show that make it so and just slapping it on a generic type of gameplay. It's like how in the NES or SNES days licensed games mainly boiled down to Platformers with no real identity then the brand they came from and copied Mario's gameplay.
