Welcome back! We miss ya! Can't wait to see more of your stuff, hope you enjoyed your break :)
It's been almost a month since I got my grow light, and I'm noticing 4 new pitchers growing in across 3 plants. Really looking forward to everything Nepenthes-related this upcoming spring, both in real life and from your channel!

Happy to be back! :) Cool for your pitchers. What species are they?

Those orchid pots might be good in rooting Nepenthes cuttings to start out. As the rooted cuttings grow then transplant them into a regular nursery pot.

Glad to have you back! I think with Beard you like a little older. I think in Case of the Pods, maybe instead of transparent you can try White ones who reflect light and heat more. I think it could be better for Plants in the Summer who don't like it to Hot especially around the Roots.🤔🌱🙂

youve convinced me to play tetris with my nepenthes instead of playing around with round pots 😅

All my micro orchids are grown on wood to simulate natural conditions for the epiphytes. Many Nepenthes are epiphytes, too. Net pots are best for Neps.

Yes I agree 💯 but on a windowdowsill it's dryer so regular pots are great

Definitely going to switch to square pots when I go on a big repot spree next year

Welcome back! I've recently transitioned to square pots but I cant find a good tray like the ones you have. could you tell me where you got your large trays? Thanks!

You could use the clear pots for growing sphagnum moss. Also, just something I thought you might find interesting, ive got a x hookeriana that has pitchers that are over 2 years old and show no sighn of aging yet! It wasn't doing so well so im wondering if that could have caused it?

Good question for the Hook'... I really don't know. And I'll try for the sphagnum! Great idea 💡

    Welcome back!
This repot made me wonder: I've talked before about my ventrata not pitchering anymore for about a year, while growing like crazy. Could it be that the pot is too small? The plant is around 1.2m high and in a pot with a diameter of 15cm, and about 14cm tall (I can't buy square pots here in the stores). Could this be an issue? What size would you advise for an adult plant?

      @WindowsillNepenthes  Рік тому +2

Hi ☺️ I would recommend a bigger pot like 18-20cm. But vining plants sometimes stop pitchering if they miss humidity or light (which often happens when vining on a windowdowsill).

@@WindowsillNepenthes I'll put it in a bigger pot to start out with. I've been playing with light and moisture all year (even had the plant outside in the full sun for months during the summer!). I'd love to see some uppers on this guy/gal.

It’s most probably low humidity and inconsistent growing conditions. Don’t move it around, let it acclimate to a high light/high humidity grow space

Hi Remy, hope your having a great new years I just wanted to stop in and say thank you for all the great information on nepenthes, you are definitely the best place on UA-cam for anything nepenthes. I started growing carnivorous plants last year, I started with vft's, then got into sundews, then got into nepenthes/pings and the nepenthes have won my heart over by far they are my favorite. I now have 10 nepenthes and I was wondering how you get your small nepenthes to have such big pitchers? Some of my small ones are the same size as yours but they are nowhere near as big pitcher wise, is it the humidity? I have mine sitting under a full spectrum led grow light and I have them all sitting in drip trays with water to try and help with humidity(they are grown in solo cups and i put a second solo cup over the main one to stop water from seaping into drainage holes the trays are strictly for humidity I top water every day/other day). Also I wanted to let you know your absolutely right about alatas being ventrata. 2 of my nepenthes I bought online were sold to me as alata and after watching your alata x ventrata video I confirmed you are absolutely correct it is a ventrata and not alata. However I just purchased 2 nepenthes from a nursery this past week that were not labeled and I believe those are alatas, I have big plans for one of them, I'm planning on growing a nepenthes tree, a nepentree if you will lol.

Thanks :) For the pitcher/leaf ratio size, it will depends on the species and the light/humidity. Those species aren't fast growers so when they do make a new pitcher, it's bigger. ;)

@@WindowsillNepenthes have you ever grown a very large nepenthes? I recently came across a post on Reddit of a guy that grew his nepenthes in an ace trash can and it is massive, I'm going to try to replicate that.

En resumidas cuentas las macetas transparente son mejor para la produccion de jarros?

If you're in a high humidity situation, square hydroponic pots/cups/baskets are fantastic. I'm sure lots of people know that, but just in case :)
