- I was asked by English Heritage to provide a piano version of the Queen classic We Are The Champions for this video which was about the making of the Blue Plaque for Freddie Mercury back in 2016.
The video features Frank and Sue Ashworth who have been making London's blue plaques for English Heritage since 1984.
English Heritage visited them at home in Cornwall to find out more about the process and their role in the scheme.
The original version had the piano part very quiet in the mix and so I have had permission from English Heritage to repost this video with the music louder.
Permission for this version of the Queen classic was also granted by the Queen management as part of the celebration of the Blue Plaque for Freddie.
I was also honoured to be invited to the unveiling where I spent some time chatting with Brian May.
Wonderful work from true craftpersons. And a credible accompaniment from Oliver. Thank you all for commemorating this man's legacy.
Thank You for posting this. I love detailed work - it's great to see so many steps of the process. A fine impression of the song as well. Have a great week. -R
Fantastic, I'm sure Freddie would have loved it.
Beautiful!
How long does it take to make one of the plaque's ?
Who else was fooled by the man's voice sounding like Roger Taylor? I thought it was him...
