    As much as I hate being older, I’m happy I was alive during the Beatles coming to America. It truly changed my life watching them on Ed Sullivan that February night.

    That was FUN !!! The reason people never get tired of Beatles music is because it's all fun. It just gets you right in the soul. A little "old man" story : I'll never forget one afternoon just coming from high school and a couple of blocks away, Im coming up to where there was a small grocery store and suddenly the feedback hum at the start of I Feel Fine starts coming over the street. It was on loud. That was an amazing experience, to hear that cool sound flowing over me. Ive never forgotten it and I never will. What a thrill that was. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . etc ! That was 1964 - 65 and I was 17. I am sooo glad I lived through that time. It was the greatest.

    If you were born after the 1960s, you might not appreciate the joy the Beatles inspired. But if you look at the expression on Mr. Pachelli's face as he performs this simple, early Beatles tune, you see the echo of it. Music truly is the food of love. Play on, Mike!

    I now realise that when I used to sing and strum this track in the early 60s, I used to play (or try to play) a B major bar chord, when it should have been a B7, which would have been easier to play on my 12-string. Thanks Mike, but over 50 years too late with this info. But probably I should have known better.

    This is perhaps my third favorite Beatles song (after, of course, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You"). And I love it so for the same reasons as you - because it's such a happy song. You can't help but feel good listening to it. I know every note and word, and sing along to it EVERY time I here it. And I could hear it a MILLION times and love it just as much. It is about as perfect a song as the Beatles EVER recorded, and deserves FAR more praise and recognition. Beatlemania at its' absolute BEST.

      yes people talk about their later stuff as the serious stuff and treat their early stuff as fluff but that is so wrong, their early stuff was intense, SLYou and I Want to.. are their best songs, people dont get that there was no guitar distortion then and when you only have clear electric it's hard to rock out and those songs in particular rocked out as hard as clear electric would allow. Distortion changed everything and changed songwriting and that is why those songs sound funny to us today.

  • @allenf.5907
    @allenf.5907 4 роки тому +4

    To me this is the height of Beatlemania. They'd already conquered the US on Ed Sullivan and now A Hard Day's Night would cement the legacy. The film, the tour, the songs ALL represent what the Beatles had accomplished in getting rid of the Bobby Rydell's as real and vibrant music had arrived via the UK, but using mostly American influences. It's such a great and happy song indeed. The B7 turn-around sets up everything and love how you showed John's flamenco influenced strum. I was a John fan when they first came out and then switched to melodious Paul but now realize the greatness all began with Mr. John Lennon. No Beatles going to the top of the poppermost without the Walrus in charge.

    • @allenf.5907
      @allenf.5907 4 роки тому

      And also Mike, I'm doing the intro (and thus the song) on the 12 string but doing the harmonica part on the guitar on the top strings and really not even changing the guitar chord shape in doing so (from the G to the D). Wondering why now that John abandoned the harmonica for future use and this is probably why - can't sing and play harp at the same time. I am completely in LOVE with this song again, thanks!

You do such a great job and it's a delight to hear you sing with the reckless abandon that the Beatles captured in the studio. And when I tell you that I love this song so much and have always particularly loved Lennon's vocals on this track - ohhh - you're gonna say you love it too.

      john lennon particularly sounded great double-tracked, that was fortunate for him that right when it became the thing it suited his vocals perfectly. Paul didnt sound much different dt'd. Ive researched it and people who sing consistently dont sound as different dt'ed as people who cant sing exactly the same everytime.

      Yeah but that dogged effort is what deepened their appreciation for the art of songwriting. Their endless curiosity sharpened their compositional skills. Had they been able to just glean all the answers instantly from UA-cam, who knows, it may have engendered a sense of complacency. Their hunger and drive, along with natural born talent, is what made them the greatest tunesmiths of all time.

    Great bass by Paul, John's rhythm, George's solo/fill-ins, and Ringo's no nonsense steady drum rhythm with no drum rolls/fill-in because he knew the song didn't need any! Pete Best would have been inserting his rapid fire drum rolls all over the place!

    Very enjoyable. Mike does make this easy and as already mentioned his joy in playing this song makes this a great video.

    Thanks Mike, such a really simple tune but the bridge for me is the stand out genius of creation, I've always really loved the bridge...and cannot for the life of me hear anything else that could have been composed in its place!!!

    Thanks, Mike. It's the first Beatles tune that really grabbed me. When I picked up the guitar a few years later, this is the first song I learned to play along with the record. In minutes I was a guitar player. So much fun, so many fond memories.

    This song I was 12 and saw it in Hard Days Night in the early 70's John's smile and vocals and harmonica and I was like thats what I want to do for a living. George playing those accents on each chord change on his 12 string. Paul & Ringo doing their part it was amazing. to see. I watched Hard Days Night with my late Mother the last Christmas we had together in 2003. She had taken her kid sister to see the Beatles live in 1964 their only show ever in Milwaukee. Mike you do a great job with these Beatles songs along with your World Class ability on the Classic stuff and your Jazz albums. Thank You

    I've listen to this song for 55 years and come to conclude that there were two acoustic guitars used when they recorded this. Because I hear two different time signatures on the j160e and they dubbed 1 over top of the other. And listen to the time signature of John playing. Very unique.

    I enjoy watching your videos. I wish I had started playing guitar when I was a teen instead of my 70's, but I enjoy a challenge.

    Mike you sure know your stuff great video, I used to live in the UK at the time of the Beatles, even though I was a kid at the time everybody knew the Beatles were just the band. I remember people got upset when they sent a video in for their performance on top of the pops because they could not show up because of all the screaming from the fans.
