Presenter: Stone Temple Pilots (STP)
Album: Core
Lyrics:
Yeah, I could hide in the calm of the eye of the storm
And never blow away
Well, Im a young man with a knife to my back
Some things never seem to change
Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide
Sing the song or keep it inside
Bought the farm, but the farmer done died
Sing that song, sing that song inside
I wish I could live in the dream
That I fly on the tarred & freathered wings
Well, Im losing a game of reality
Dice where the dealer never ever pays
Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide
Sing the song or keep it inside
Bought the farm, but the farmer done died
Sing that song, sing that song inside
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rents like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes
Yeah, I could hide in the calm of the eye of the storm
And never blow away
Well, Im a young man with a knife to my back
Some things never seen to change
Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide
Sing the song or keep it inside
Bought the farm, but the farmer done died
Sing that song, sing that song inside
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rents like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes
If I was stronger
I could be a mountain range
If night was longer
Could I escape the day?
If I was stronger
I could be a mountain range
If night was longer
Could I escape the day?
Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide
Sing the song or keep it inside
Bought the farm, but the farmer done died
Sing that song, sing that song inside
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rents like in heaven
I wanna know where the river...
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rents like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes
Where the river goes
Where the river goes
Where the river, yeah
Where the river
Where the river
Where the river
Where the river
Where the river goes
Where the river goes
Such an underrated masterpiece of a song! One of STP's best if you ask me.
Agree 💯💯💯
Word
I used to get in my car and pop this CD in and play as loud as possible while I drove on the freeway at night. My car came equipped with BOSE sound system. The sound is unmatched! You can totally get lost in this whole cd and feel like ur on another planet.
Awesome!
That's what I'm talking about! You need to FEEL the song going back and forth through your veins!!
@@andradmusic yes sir! And just for about an hour u get to forget that we live in a fuck** up world.
One of the greatest albums ever
I used to blast this album in my bedroom when I was a teenager. One day my Dad knocked on the door and asked "what's that band you are listening to?" and at that time he never had any love for my music....that day he actually appreciated something I was into.
Crazy to think you are probably now his age then..
Right here.
Underrated song. One of my favorites.
This whole album is killer. I didn't get my greedy hands on this gem til around 2000-01ish… sometime during my Senior year of high school. Better late than never, huh?
Interesting how women I know respond to the STP
Prolly. Tmi. My day is paranoid schizophrenic. We had finished being homeless and I got this construction job, after house and food I had $30 or so left. I got this album on tape. With sound garden.
Dude I just started listening to stp about a year ago and I'm 17
I get lost in this whole album. My father would come home from work when I was 5-6 and blast this cd on his brand new tuner. I had no clue what he was teaching me until my later years, but thank god he introduced me to such good music at such a young age.
+nick ranalli u had a badass dad!!
+nick ranalli Wish I had your Cool Dad Bro ... But I made Sure I was a Bad Ass Cool Dad to My Own Kids showing them this Cool Music :-D
+nick ranalli Good thing your pops didn't turn you on to rap.
same here. got to start em young.
+Opera Singer whoa, there is some great rap just like there is some great music from all types. I happen to like alot of rock and listen to many bands but I like rap even though my dad does his rock thing. rap can be just as good obviously not now, there is no arguing that.
That guitar chord at 5:15 gets me every time. Incredible musicianship in this entire band. RIP Scott. 🖤
easily one of the greatest debut records for a band
Definitely, this and the Foo Fighters debut album
A lot of epic bands have smashing debuts. GNR, Rage, Toadies, SOAD, Pearl Jam, Life of Agony, Scars on Broadway, Korn..........
Appetite for destruction, TEN, core, pronounced lynyrd skynyrd, facelift, few of the best debut albums
No doubt...too bad they had to deal with the dumbass rock press shitting on them solely because they weren't from Seattle.
STP Core...Please, guys, play this music as loud as possible...as loud as it goes
Is one of my favourite
With you bro
I did they called the police,Then I played Roxanne
Fuck yeah!
As if there's another way to play this..
This is probably my favorite song of all time...
When I was 16 back in 01 my aunt gave me a cassette of their entire first album. Best decision ever. When I mentioned it to her a couple of months ago, she says she had no clue that she gave it to me. Not sure if I should be mad, be happy, be sad. All I know is is that I thank her for cultivating my effing life. Love u aunt HEIDI!!
Taken from songfacts:
They came up with the riff the first time they jammed with Dean DeLeo, who replaced Corey Hickok on guitar. Dean is five years older than his brother Robert, the band's bass player, and it took some convincing to get Dean on board. When he joined them on his first jam, his new bandmates were blown away, and Scott Weiland wrote the lyrics based on that feeling. "To us, Dean's playing was big as a mountain and high as the sun," he said in his 2011 autobiography. "He pushed us up to a heavenly place."....makes the song even more awesome :)
Thanks for the info....btw i was thinking about reading scott's bio...is it worth reading?
I've always heard this beautiful music. Damusic is and always rockez me
@@skippyjunior2744 Sorry for late reply. Yes i do recommend it Scott was an interesting and talented guy
I been listening since this album. You made me wanna watch a documentary on this
Soooooo dope
A piece of musical genius
One of the most prolific, & iconic rock bands to come out of the early nineties. RIP, Scott your unbelievable voice was silenced way too soon, but your musical legacy you left us, will continue to shine on.
Love that grimy guitar sound. Bright but punctuated when necessary. Robert does the bass so complimentary.
Reminds me of 'When The Levee Breaks'. Great tune RIP Scott
My first thought when listening! It's a great song
you can hear the LZ influence on the band :)
My favorite Led Zepellin song. RIP BONZO.....
Core is a masterpiece from beginning to end. This is my favorite song from it. RIP Scot Weiland
The entire album is an absolute classic.
Sing that song inside Scott... I hope the river takes you on a greater path . You were an idol of mine since 93 and till this day. Hope to meet you along river someday. RIP brother!!!
The sharp notes in this album are what make it the greatness that it is. It gives me the chills whenever I hear those metallic sharp notes that occur throughout the album.
Now you can see what the rents like in heaven. Rip scott you were the man. I grew up listening to stp.
Ben Brown yep!!! Love Scott!! Don't care What Ur Vices Were..... LOVE U!!! RIP Scott
Ben Brown me too, since 91 brotha, always brings me back
same me and my dad would listen to core along with other amazing albums, driving from Texas to Wisconsin. I was like 13
The lyrics are amazing
That outro solo is absolutely gorgeous
"Well i´m a young man with a knife to my back, and some things never seen to change" What a message.
I literally ran across this comment as he was singing that part of the song.😯😲
the first 3 STP albums always had an epic song to end the album.
that outro is magical.
I will never forget you Scott. So sorry that your life on earth was so full of pain but now you are that big mountain in heaven.
Your river will never end....
Right on! That is MONEY!!!
This is my favorite STP song ever. RIP Scott Weiland...
RIP Scott W.. Thanks for the bad ass STP Core album. Always a classic.
Music like this was the soundtrack to my teenage years. I can still see myself hanging out with good friends and some video games with some good tunes blasting.
rest in peace Scott weilend.. I bumped these nggas more then gangsta rap... sometimes
Ain't no shame in blasting STP..😎👍🏼🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵
Hell yeah just bump baby
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rent's like in heaven
I wanna know where the river...
I wanna be as big as a mountain
I wanna fly as high as the sun
I wanna know what the rent's like in heaven
I wanna know where the river goes!
One of the best songs ever!
Best on album
Scott Weiland had a tremendous set of vocal ranges.
Always my favorite lyrics , I remember when this cassette tape first hit the market , blasted it so many nights with the windows down ,riding them roads
This gets big hearts from me
This is my favourite song with STP! R.I.P. Scott

Fucking awesome album ender!! Core is a great record
Rest in Peace. You will be missed down here.
Thank you Scott for all the memories seeing you live. There will never be another. I hope you found out where the river goes
The world sure is gonna be a lonelier place without you Weiland.
+Daniel Echávarri Yes it is.
yes.
take a bow Dean DeLeo. He has a way of putting together unorthodox chord progressions with diminished, sharp and flat chords
Ketan I just looooovvvve STP.
CORE Is one of the greatest albums of all time.
Ketan he was one of the last rock guitar God's
Dean is so fucking underrated. He deserves so much credit.
him and jimmy page.
Sex type thing brought me here. Where the river goes has kept me here. 24 plus years later.....
Can't get the idea of Scott, Kurt and Layne playing together out of my head. They probably are making music somewhere.
Saman they are playing with Chris and Chester now 😭😔 rip
mike,
Seriously? That's ridiculous.
Hope the River laid you in its gentle sway..and the rents not to high in heaven..
RIP Scott
A huge piece of my youth died yestérday. R.I.P., Give Layne and Kurt a big hug man.
revinkevn I Agree!!!! Love U Guys!!! Outta Pain With Jesus!!!! U Lyrycal Giants!!!! RIP!!!!! GOD BLESS US ALL!!!!!
No one was surprised everyone wished it wasn't true , God rest
In both life and death, I always go where the river goes! 🤘😎🏞
R.I.P. Scott Wieland.
Heaven must be damn good. Layne, Cobain, now Scott...
Now Chris cornell... is definitely taking the best voices! and the voices of my youth! RIP
Chester Bennington too
Bradley and Lou dog, shannon hoon, andrew wood, Lynn strait.. the list goes on and on
Why heaven? I bet they all smoking cigs with Satan. Who really wants to go to heaven. Be real.
Core. A significant portion in the soundtrack of my youth. I never post to anything but felt it necessary upon hearing this unfortunately inevitable tragedy. Thank you STP...
penso che sia una delle più belle canzoni di core, sia la musica che il significato rendono questa canzone veramente speciale per me che mi sto avvicinando a questo genere di musica.
Lots of Aerosmith "Round and round" in there. It's crazy to think tyler and perry are still alive as well as jagger and Richards and all the grunge icons are dead
This has always been my favorite STP song. Thanks for uploading it!! AWOOOOOOO
Love this song...AIC vibes...I live the 90s music...82 baby..grew up to the best music
if I were stronger........I could be a mountain range.......if night were longer could I escape the day..........some people just don't understand like the small percentage of us does....anyone dig?
why is this so good
stormedcapone Because it wasn't made by Beiber
I think it's because it kinda seems lame, lyrics wise, self loathing. But it just becomes more and more real the more you listen to it. It's just a dark side of us, hard one to face. Gets deeper and deeper, surprises you sometimes. Plus a fitting and awesome song musicly.
Because this album is almost 30 years old, and it doesn't sound dated. In fact i dare say that it sounds better today. That's when u know the music is good. When it stands the test of time.
If night were longer....
....could I....
.... escape the day?
If I was stronger,
I could be a mountain range.
+pi seveneightseven the best part of the music in my opinion
I'd escape to the damost heavenly tree house and sit and listen to all it had to offer, handz down, beaUtifUl
the sound of the 90s
It builds. My god, it builds.
When I was teen, discovering of this masterpiece was enormus important and mindblowning for me. In that time, lyrics was the most important for me because there were a lot of things that I couldn't understand, especially myself. When I heard news about Scot's death I was in shock and really sad.
Scot, I hope you are at better place now. I hope you are in peace now.
This song has perhaps STP’s best chorus.
Today sucks. RIP Scott, you were a fucking hero to so many people.
Be well my brother. See you on the other side
The bridge in this is powerful
One of the underrated
Easily their best song in my opinion.
Michael Mikey One of the best.
They got so many that fell by the wayside. Such is the case with many groups unfortunately
This entire album is a best!
They got so many that went viral too.
Yes sir Where The River Goes and Superman Silvergun top STP songs!
Keep singing that song.
420th like😊 This entire album is a gem
haha...yep 😎👍🏼
crestfallen.. one of the baddest, least appreciated vocalists of the grunge era..
Larry Lewis Amen brother
That is a fact!
He really was something. I think he maybe brought more blues and soul to the table than his contemporaries, and did so more..... organically.
And Dean Deleo as a guitarist.
Hoon would beg I disagree
I appreciate his music and how it was a soundtrack for my youth.it is truly a blessing in 94'for a outcast in a small town.it brought me strength and bonded friendship.wish things were more sacred like in the 90s.
I swear, for every good rock musician there is, there needs to be a therapist assigned to them...rip Chris
Sounds and feels like When the Levee Breaks. Awesome.
got that mother love bone feel
I was in the 8th grade when this album came out. Will always be one of my favorites
Peace upon you Scott.
4 years gone today. Thanks for the music.
Scott Wieland was the sexiest man of his time. NOTHING can replace him. R.I.P.
♡ we miss you very much..Scott
The farmer don't lies [] Awesome
An STP classic
I wanna know what the Rents like in heaven.....masterful
I loooove this song!! Miss you Scott!! RIP
best of rock ever
I hear Donna Summer " I feel love" in the lyric structure ...
I just wrote a comment about it... thought I was the only one. Lol
my favorite STP song RIP Scott
He’s badass he was the coolest one
Would be cool as Hell to hear “Rain When I Die” Alice In Chains bars over the verse riff... same chill groove.
RIP my man
I want to know what the rents like in heaven....................
Better than wine thus actually gets better with time
His guitar work is unbelievable!
Best stp album
Sweatin to the oldies...
This is absofrickenvodkalutely the best album ever
Definitely one of their best.
Good shit! I was 20 when this album came out there is no music to compare today this today addiction almost killed me my name is Scott turner and this song inspired me in many ways but just like this Scott we simply did the shit because we liked the way it made us feel the mountain was to big for him to cross and only by the grace of God I have crossed mine but their music just like this song is about was bigger than life
Lyrics
Yeah,
I could hide in the calm
Of the eye of the storm
And never blow away
Yeah
Well
I'm a young man
With a knife to my back
Some things never
Seem to change
Nowhere to run to,
Nowhere to hide
Sing the song or
Keep it inside
Bought the farm,
But the farmer done died
Sing that song,
Sing that song inside
Yeah
I wish I could
Live in the dream
That I fly on the tarred
And feathered wings
Well,
I'm losing a game of reality
Dice where the dealer
Never ever pays
Nowhere to run to,
Nowhere to hide
Sing the song or
Keep it inside
Bought the farm,
But the farmer done died
Sing that song,
Sing that song inside
Yeah
I wanna be as
Big as a mountain
I wanna fly as
High as the sun
I wanna know
What the rents
Like in heaven
I wanna know
Where the river goes
Yeah,
I could hide in the calm
Of the eye of the storm
And never blow away
Yeah
Well
I'm a young man
With a knife to my back
Some things never
Seen to change
Nowhere to run to,
Nowhere to hide
Sing the song or
Keep it inside
Bought the farm,
But the farmer done died
Sing that song,
Sing that song inside
Yeah
I wanna be as
Big as a mountain
