A tip I would add to this list is that while you're casting your fishing line you can hold your directional keys to change where the bobber lands in the water. Game changer for reaching those fishing bubbles you thought you couldn't reach.
Tip 8 - according to the wiki, only the center crop needs to be fully-grown and watered for a giant crop. Tip 15 - the wiki lists some silver quality items that give the best response. Tip 17 - Robin's prices quintuple, not double.

Unless it was changed in a patch, I believe for giant crops it actually only needs to be the middle one that is watered. The surrounding 8 can even be not fully grown, as long as the middle crop is grown and watered, there will be a chance for it to turn into a giant crop. I think Robin's prices quintuple in year 2 rather than double like Clint's. For the tip 27, the fishing cast indirectly matter. In fact, closer you are to the perfect cast, futher away the fishing bubber will be threw. Your level of fishing also increase the distance. And in most map, high quality fish area are pretty far from the shore, and mainly when you are low levrl in fishing, it's important to have a good cast, not necessary a perfect but at least a good one. The different fishing quality area of all maps are available in the wiki, so you can see the fishing spots which doesn't require big distance.

I figured out 2 different tricks by accident. First one, When you are about to pass out and you lost track of time in the mines and you know you won't make it home in time but you don't want to lose $5,000 and half of your items, Just eat something poisonous to drain the rest of your health and energy. You'll pass out but when you wake up the next day in your bed, you will still have all of your items, you will get a letter saying you passed out and that you were billed $1,000 from the hospital but that is way better then losing 5,000 and half your items. Another trick, if you are about to pass out and you know you can't make it home from the mines, (assuming you haven't unlocked the carts yet), If you can atleast make it to Linus's tent, you can go in there and pass out in his tent. You'll wake up the next day in your bed with only half energy for the day, but you won't lose any money or any of your items because Linus will have your back all night.
One correction on the Perfect Catch from fishing! It will only bump up a star level if the catch was already silver or higher. Meaning it will bump Silver to Gold, or Gold to Iridium, but it will NOT bump no star into silver star! As a fun bit of trivia this means it is impossible to perfect catch a fish and obtain a silver star quality, as a silver becomes gold, but no star remains no star! Additionally, Perfect catching a fish awards you a 2x multiplier on the exp, I believe (with treasure awarding a 1.5x).
Something that I've always liked is that if you don't have anything in your hand and you need to move an empty chest a short distance like one tile, you can hold the button to destroy it but instead of getting the chest, it hops over to another tile. Whichever way you were facing that is. Also, one slight thing here, I play on console and although most of the information that you say is something I know, I also know a few people who don't know a lot. If you could maybe convert your keyboard and mouse controls over to controller, that'd be amazing. The only reason I say this is because I know that a few people are like 'Wait, how do I press cntrl?!' You know?
Finding out that you could shake the bushes and berries fall off, different ones every season, or shake the trees to have pinecones, and what not fall off, has been a game changer lol…I’m pretty sure that I actually found out from one of your other videos, but it could be from somebody else, too… First of all, during some seasons, like autumn, especially, there’s an insane amount of them… Just look for any bush that has a little colored top of it… Usually purple or red. And you can get blackberries and I forget what the other kind are. Second of all, you can also shake the trees, as I said, which is nice if you need a pinecone or acorn, but don’t feel like cutting down the whole truth… next, during certain seasons, there in insane amount of berries, and a fair number of towns people actually like them as a gift… plus, even though they aren’t worth much, it’s still a nice way to get a little extra money by just walking around… Lastly, it’s just really gratifying to collect them lol it’s honestly one of the more gratifying things to do in the game in my opinion lol So, assuming it was you… Thanks for that one and hopefully somebody else didn’t know and will see this
Tip 5: One thing I found out recently after playing again for the first time since upgrading to a 4k monitor is that the zoom does not compensate for your screen's resolution. If you want to see the game "as intended" (100% zoom at 1080p), you have to set the zoom to 150% if you're on a 4k monitor.

Here's a neat one I found out through some experimentation: If you have Stardew Valley for both Android and PC, you can migrate saves between the two platforms. Just connect your phone via USB to your PC, then it's as simple as dragging and dropping the save folders you wish to migrate. The first time you migrate from PC to mobile, the mobile game may prompt you to give permission to access the folder. Just navigate to the Stardew Valley installation folder in your phone, and grant permission. I've only tried this with vanilla saves. However, it might be possible to add mods to the mobile version, as long as you create the appropriate folders. Might be worth looking into. Great way to take the game with you if you're like me and don't use a laptop to game (desktop is the way to game if you're a serious gamer). It's also a great way to conserve laptop power, or avoid using your business laptop for personal gaming while traveling.
to add on tip 24; you can also put "Sign of the Vessel" on your fish ponds and it'll act the same way as signs do, an d you can remove the signs you put in your ponds by left-clicking it with an axe or pickaxe :) (i discovered this myself and i didn't know so i hope this helps someone out there xD)
If you don't want to build a slime hutch, build a slime incubator. In the mines you get a lot of slime, and if you put 100 of these in an incubator you will recieve a slime egg that you can sell between 1000 - 5000 gold.
(Will edit with more tips when I think of them) 1. Press Y to quickly confirm certain actions instead of clicking the box (like leaving the mine or eating food.) 2. Certain things happen while your inventory is open. This includes trees falling and item collecting (and before 1.5, bombs exploding). Opening your inventory for these things can save a lot of in-game time if you would have otherwise just stood there waiting for said thing to happen. 3. Have the +10% crop speed perk most of the time and then change to the artisan perk the day before you sell your artisan goods (day-of doesn't work, stockpiling them for a single big sell day is a good idea). The buff is better than you might expect, removing a day from growth time from most plants (including short term ones like parsnips and carrots) and more from longer term plants. It doesn't change the harvest rate of multi-harvest crops, but can get you another harvest for just about all of them by making them grow faster. 4. Summer Squash is an amazing source of food, giving 50 health and 113 energy each at gold quality and regrowing every 3 days, and if planted at the start of summer, gives you 8 harvests before the season is over. The seeds can be found in the crates in the mines. Very easy to mass produce with seed makers once you have some going. Highly recommend.
0:35 Yeah. I remapped the Tab key to open my inventory. There is nearly zero situations where I need to swap the quick access bar (and thus mess up if I have my weapon in hand or not) that can't be solved just as quickly by opening the inventory and adding the next stack of food (or whathaveyou) to the now empty slot. Looking forward to the rest of the video, though. XD
I remember telling you in your stream chat ages ago that leeks spawn more often in the backwoods and you were SO skeptical 🤣 “I’m not sure that that’s true”
31. Lightning rods make the best fences in the game. They are immune to decay, and indestructible. All you need are the two fence/wall posts to attach a gate, the rest can be lightning rods (or machines/chests/decoration) :)
Another useful tip I learned especially for the early stages, if you click and hold while watering plants instead of just clicking it will water the 3 plants in the direction you are facing.
a friend of mine came over once and i showed him my farm. he looked confused as to how i swapped my inventory, and i thought that's something you just know for some reason. now i see the very first tip and realise he's not the only one who never found out about that :o great tips already
Wednesday tv recipes are random unless you (or another player on the file) missed a Sunday recipe. Then it shows you the recipe you missed. Life saver for sure.
I lo e that the "view bundles" is in the inventory spot, but it makes no sense that they have an area that LOOKS like you can put the bundle items in the slits, but it doesn't actually LET you put the items there. It would be a game changer if you could add items remotely...
Not sure if you were already told, and ik this is a bit late, but you said the trash panda shows up near the mines rather than the sewers. Obviously you can see in the video that it's actually the sewers so I'm sure it wasnt an issue but just thought I'd mention it
Another amazing part of the re-runs is that they only show recipes you've missed (or in multiplayer the one most people have missed) so if it says that you know the recipe on Wednesday you're caught up!
casting distance does actually make a difference, per stardew wiki. "Every water tile is assigned a Fishing Zone of 0, 1, 2, 3, or 5[2] that controls many aspects of fishing. The further from land (in every direction), the better the zone. The game considers most walkable surfaces, including islands, piers, and stone bridges to be "land"; wooden footbridges are one exception. If the bobber lands at least 5 tiles away from any land, it is located in zone 5." chance of catching trash reduces as fishing zone rises, along with the base quality of the fish you're catching. bubbles make you catch faster but they also provide a +1 to fishing zone buff (this buff only changes the available fish, it does not add to the quality modifier zone increases normally provide).
I expected to know pretty much all of these, and I did, but sign on the fish pond absolutely blew my mind I don't think I'll ever be done learning about this game
Thanks for this a few of these are good to know as a returning player from pre-1.4 doing another playthrough. Some of these of these quality of life tips used to be mods. I learned a bunch of useful things from the patches since I played.
If your doing the community cleanup job from the job broad in front of Lewis’ house you can go to the spa and fish all the trash you need to complete the job. You’ll also get some decor and soda from time to time. Btw idk if this works across all platforms because I’m playing this game on the Nintendo switch.
after doing some experimenting with fishing (i just started playing a week or so ago but became obsessed with fishing) when you're max level fishing and have an iridium rod (still unsure of the specific variables but bear with me), a parfect catch on either deep water or 80%+ of casting power is almost guaranteed to yeild an iridium quality fish. missing the perfect by even a frame yeilds a gold quality fish, and if you struggle a decent amount (progress bar turns orange or red), it falls to silver or base quality.
When upgrading your chest to a big chest, you can place it over the old chest and it switches everything out, you do not have to empty it, knock it out and then add the big chest in its place. Very handy when moving chest or adding the workbench. Oh, the workbench can have 7 chests around it. One for each cardinal direction and the eight spot you access it. If you cheat with sellable items in your name and collect money fast enough, you can hit the desert fair year 1, and the skull cavern is open to use. You can get the fire quartz then as well as ore. (Idk, sometimes I don’t play to struggle with money).
0:40 I use my inventory for different jobs, like one row is sword pickaxe and high quality foods for the cave; other row is axe and remaining for farming. It is not always like that but usually similar to this. So tab is a life saver at least for me.
Tip 8: this isnt true, only.the middle crop in the 3x3 needs to be watered and grown the day it turns into a giant crop, the rest can be literally seeds planted around it that day
If you're playing on mobile, sometimes clicking on an item won't do anything (egg not picked up, note not read, tree not chopped) even though the green square bregisters the input. I find zooming in or out a bit (pinching morion) or walking up to the thing from a different side can rattle it loose. Maybe its just me. Also, press and hold on items to get a description or to only pick a few instead of all from inventory.
for Tip 27: You forgot to mention getting a perfect catch pretty much doubles your EXP gained from fishing, and getting a treasure chest outright doubles your exp gain as well. they can stack. so if you are lucky and manage to perfectly catch a fish and get a chest, you will have like a 6x increase in exp because its like 2.2x and 2.6x or something like that
tip for pc players about the hot bar-- rebind it to spacebar instead of tab if you value ABM (always be moving) and not cramping your hand. i also keep my weapon right below my pickaxe in my inventory so i can tap space to quickly switch since my scroll wheel is very sensitive
Another tip... It works on mobile idk for windows and other stuff but mostly on yt I see people purchasing stuff from krobus or the trader and stop after the stock is empty generally thats only one purchase.... But if you exit the shop window and enter again you will see that the stock is refilled... Its helpful when u need stuff in stacks and are only limited by stock.. i once baught 43 ancient seeds from trader using this😊

Second of all, you can also shake the trees, as I said, which is nice if you need a pinecone or acorn, but don’t feel like cutting down the whole truth… next, during certain seasons, there in insane amount of berries, and a fair number of towns people actually like them as a gift… plus, even though they aren’t worth much, it’s still a nice way to get a little extra money by just walking around… Lastly, it’s just really gratifying to collect them lol it’s honestly one of the more gratifying things to do in the game in my opinion lol
So, assuming it was you… Thanks for that one and hopefully somebody else didn’t know and will see this
How do you shake the bushes? Thank you!
Tip 5:
One thing I found out recently after playing again for the first time since upgrading to a 4k monitor is that the zoom does not compensate for your screen's resolution. If you want to see the game "as intended" (100% zoom at 1080p), you have to set the zoom to 150% if you're on a 4k monitor.
I like seeing all the extra map, though. 😅
re: tip 14 -- you can also do this with geode's at clint !! this might seem obvious to some, but my partner CONTINUES to button-mash when opening HUNDREDS of omni-geodes if i don't remind him x)
HOOOHHHH MY LAWD I wasn't using that tip at all because I only like, buy 8 of a seed at a time (I prefer fewer crops) but geodes? Clint is my buddy my pal and now so is this tippp
I knew every tip in the video, and use most of them regularly, but not this! I must try it immediately!
Wait, does he break 5 geodes at a time then?! 😮
this doesn't seem to work
Omg thank you
Here's a neat one I found out through some experimentation:
If you have Stardew Valley for both Android and PC, you can migrate saves between the two platforms.
Going back to this game for the first time in a LONG time exclusively because of things I've learned from your videos.
Thanks!
I literally had no idea there was a quick access to the community center bundles until your videos, literally SUCH a timesaver!!
Trees fall away from the side you're standing! (I thought it was random for *years*)
One thing I didn't realize for a long time is that you can use your hoe on spots with wiggling worms in the ground to get an item.
The Luau soup can have the best outcome at silver quality, it just depends on the item. stuff like ancient fruit wine works at silver
I use gold cheese for the achievement, that you for saying it is silver items.
@bethoverton- it depends on what the item is I dont know if silver cheese would work.
to add on tip 24; you can also put "Sign of the Vessel" on your fish ponds and it'll act the same way as signs do, an d you can remove the signs you put in your ponds by left-clicking it with an axe or pickaxe :)
(i discovered this myself and i didn't know so i hope this helps someone out there xD)
Yo 1:27 THANK YOU SO MUCH I’ve been go the community center every time I don’t what I need
Its amazing how much detail ConcernedApe put into this.
If you don't want to build a slime hutch, build a slime incubator. In the mines you get a lot of slime, and if you put 100 of these in an incubator you will recieve a slime egg that you can sell between 1000 - 5000 gold.
(Will edit with more tips when I think of them)
1. Press Y to quickly confirm certain actions instead of clicking the box (like leaving the mine or eating food.)
XD
I remember telling you in your stream chat ages ago that leeks spawn more often in the backwoods and you were SO skeptical 🤣 “I’m not sure that that’s true”
oh my godd yeah I probably did say that lol
*sigh* I love when a stardew video drops while I'm playing stardew. 😁
3:37 The "trash bear" isn't by the mines. He is down by the secondary sewer entrance in Cindersap Forest.
31. Lightning rods make the best fences in the game. They are immune to decay, and indestructible. All you need are the two fence/wall posts to attach a gate, the rest can be lightning rods (or machines/chests/decoration) :)
Smart!
You can also plant grass underneath so it can spread without animals eating it.
Tea bushes also make great fences, if you like that esthetic more
You only need one fence piece and a gate when using tea or lightning roads as fences
Another useful tip I learned especially for the early stages, if you click and hold while watering plants instead of just clicking it will water the 3 plants in the direction you are facing.
That's an upgradable feature. The more you upgrade your watering can or hoe, the more range they cover
a friend of mine came over once and i showed him my farm. he looked confused as to how i swapped my inventory, and i thought that's something you just know for some reason. now i see the very first tip and realise he's not the only one who never found out about that :o great tips already
Wednesday tv recipes are random unless you (or another player on the file) missed a Sunday recipe. Then it shows you the recipe you missed. Life saver for sure.
Actually, the best result at the Luau is gated behind Mayor Lewis' lucky purple shorts.
I lo e that the "view bundles" is in the inventory spot, but it makes no sense that they have an area that LOOKS like you can put the bundle items in the slits, but it doesn't actually LET you put the items there. It would be a game changer if you could add items remotely...
This confused me so fucking much
For beginners. Throw away the bamboofishing pole and get the training rod. It makes fishing much easier.
tip 23!!! i cannot tell u how many times i’ve missed cc rewards bc of a full inv !!!!! that’s such a good tip tysm !!
Finally. A video that actually helps a new player. Thank you sir. You are a very good teacher.
Also on PC (I play on laptop without phisical mouse) you can use x for right click and c for left
If the bobber lands at least 5 tiles away from any land, it is located in zone 5." chance of catching trash reduces as fishing zone rises, along with the base quality of the fish you're catching.
bubbles make you catch faster but they also provide a +1 to fishing zone buff (this buff only changes the available fish, it does not add to the quality modifier zone increases normally provide).
the trash bear wants 4 items, not 3! the first 2 are foragables/fish and the last 2 are recipes!
Genuinely game changing video
I expected to know pretty much all of these, and I did, but sign on the fish pond absolutely blew my mind
I don't think I'll ever be done learning about this game
Thanks for this a few of these are good to know as a returning player from pre-1.4 doing another playthrough. Some of these of these quality of life tips used to be mods. I learned a bunch of useful things from the patches since I played.
27 is wrong. Perfect cast increases possibility to catch a fish, instead of trash for example
i’d buy a book of these tips. dude you’re helping so much
It’s a shame a lot of these aren’t applicable to the mobile game, but still fun to know.
omg tip 19 is amazing, thank you so much!!
I’ve been checking the TV daily for no reason?? 😭
I play a lot of open world 3D games, and tab is always something so I just instinctively tried it when I started.
The first tip I actually figured out by accident when I accidentally presse my Tab key instead of Esc. Best accident that has happened to me, tbh.
If your doing the community cleanup job from the job broad in front of Lewis’ house you can go to the spa and fish all the trash you need to complete the job. You’ll also get some decor and soda from time to time. Btw idk if this works across all platforms because I’m playing this game on the Nintendo switch.
idk if this is true for every version but harvesting is fastest when moving from the left to the right than from the right to the left.
the game tell you about the price increasing with robine and clint
Salmence, awesome content keep up the amazing content
For number 18, I believe the “trash bear“ is a tanuki not a bear!
I believe it's just called trash bear in game
after doing some experimenting with fishing (i just started playing a week or so ago but became obsessed with fishing)
when you're max level fishing and have an iridium rod (still unsure of the specific variables but bear with me), a parfect catch on either deep water or 80%+ of casting power is almost guaranteed to yeild an iridium quality fish. missing the perfect by even a frame yeilds a gold quality fish, and if you struggle a decent amount (progress bar turns orange or red), it falls to silver or base quality.
Sunflower seeds are cheaper at JoJa. It's the only seed that's cheaper there.
(Idk, sometimes I don’t play to struggle with money).
this video is so helpful! Started playing recently and little tips like these are amazing, thanks!
... me who still didn't knew there were mines after my first season
found most of these out by accident thankfully, but it would have been helpful to know when I first started
0:40 I use my inventory for different jobs, like one row is sword pickaxe and high quality foods for the cave; other row is axe and remaining for farming. It is not always like that but usually similar to this. So tab is a life saver at least for me.
1:27 this is so useful. The only reason I didn't want to complete the community center is because of how many times I had to go back to it
Tip 8: this isnt true, only.the middle crop in the 3x3 needs to be watered and grown the day it turns into a giant crop, the rest can be literally seeds planted around it that day
You can harvest AND replant on the same pass. Saves time.
I'm on console, but the "hold down the button to do tasks without opening the dialog box" (tip 13) is a literal LIFESAVER.
Get a horse, it saves so much time.
i knew almost every single one of these... And i got the game last week
2:57 so helpful ty
If you're playing on mobile, sometimes clicking on an item won't do anything (egg not picked up, note not read, tree not chopped) even though the green square bregisters the input. I find zooming in or out a bit (pinching morion) or walking up to the thing from a different side can rattle it loose. Maybe its just me.
Also, press and hold on items to get a description or to only pick a few instead of all from inventory.
Genuine tips that aren’t “this is meta,” incredible
I didn't know that about selling weapons to the Adventurer's Guild! Thanks for the tip!
40 seconds in and I’ve already been help 😂😂
R1/L1 also work for swapping toolbar if you're using a controller
Tip 31: On PC you get click the "Y" button as a quick confirm button (such as when eating)
This one I'll try. Always wondered whether there were a quick way of accepting. Nice tip!
For Switch players: press minus to skip cutscenes. Took me a while to find that one
holy shit thank you !!!
Not ne trying to yse tab to switch inventory in Minecraft after enough Stardew
i've totally done this
for Tip 27: You forgot to mention getting a perfect catch pretty much doubles your EXP gained from fishing, and getting a treasure chest outright doubles your exp gain as well.
they can stack.
so if you are lucky and manage to perfectly catch a fish and get a chest, you will have like a 6x increase in exp because its like 2.2x and 2.6x or something like that
tip for pc players about the hot bar-- rebind it to spacebar instead of tab if you value ABM (always be moving) and not cramping your hand. i also keep my weapon right below my pickaxe in my inventory so i can tap space to quickly switch since my scroll wheel is very sensitive
Another tip... It works on mobile idk for windows and other stuff but mostly on yt I see people purchasing stuff from krobus or the trader and stop after the stock is empty generally thats only one purchase.... But if you exit the shop window and enter again you will see that the stock is refilled... Its helpful when u need stuff in stacks and are only limited by stock.. i once baught 43 ancient seeds from trader using this😊
brb gonna go put some signs on my ponds! had no idea about that
5:41 how do i get dat doll with yellow shirt on the left😂😂😂😂😭???????????
Wait the metal rod doesn't have a lower bite rate??? I literally never used it cause i assumed it had low bite rates that would make it not worth using.
Also Max cast effects if you get more things in the fishing treasure chests. Chance for multiple items goes up
