Absolutely astonishing. There has never been an artist - from any era in music - that has ended their career (and life) literally at the very top of their game like David has. Most either fizzle out or do weak, watered down facsimiles of their earlier work. Some, like Paul McCartney, do reasonably good work, and some, like Leonard Cohen, do outstanding work. But to be as good as they've EVER been? I can think of one and only one: our old friend, Dave. (This song almost sounds like it could fit on Ziggy Stardust.)
I agree. This is one of my favorite Bowie songs over nearly 50 years. And was released a year after he died. He is peerless.
62 and been a fan since ‘72 and Starman. All those years of looking forward to his next album are gone now. Soundtrack to my life really - 16-62. Good God! I miss him dearly.

Bowie was a contemporary of the Beatles-Stones-Who and Kinks. His early stuff 64-67 is fantastic and under appreciated.

Some artists never day- David Bowie is one of them. It is fascinating. He has departed more than one year now, but we can still enjoy his new work. This man was living, thinking and creating for the future. Luis, I'm 61 and a fan since I was 13 and heard Space Oddity and Jean Genie in 73. I think this song is as great as his very best ones. I intend to spend time in the near future analysing it to learn and feel more ways to love it. At this point, I can say when his songs weave in and out like that, its a beautiful ride that may take many years to interpret the messages.

Yes. I have felt the past catch up and hurt with this song. It's powerful and I hope to spend time with it sometime soon to learn to love it more. Up there with his greatest songs I feel. The more times I listen, I hope to feel and hear new things.

Ive been marvelled by When I Met You ever since it was released. Its a challenge to put the right words for it, so i will go unique. I love the guitar greatly, which i believe Visconti says is the white one with New Killer Star. I feel it lives in rarified air, there is nothing like it.

I am the world's biggest Sylvian fan, but the loss of Bowie I still can't recover from completely. What a great bloke he was/is.
Little by little I get through this entire album. When I first got it after David's death, I couldn't get through the first two songs without sobbing. The world lost a true talent and one that will never be duplicated. David, you are missed and loved.
