Hi Rob n Gail. Yes the UK and European laws are much different. I shocked at some of the rules for Spain. Currently away in Wales internet a bit hit n miss here today. Thanks Phil 🙂👍
Very informative video Phil, if I was going there’s a few things there I’d need to sort, reflective panels and fire extinguishers for one. We’ve had the interior of the caravan searched. I had to open every locker and lift beds.
The GHIC card ( replacing EHIC) is something to consider giving health care at same level as local population within European Economic Area. There’s lots to consider and as you say forward planning is essential. Have a great Holiday 😁👍

Talking of speeding, I had a work colleague who was hot footing it back to Calais late for the ferry and got pulled for speeding about 40km away from the port. The French police refused to let him continue and it was lucky that his wife could show she was insured otherwise they would have been stuck. Plus massive on the spot fine.
Hi Your friend was very lucky sometimes they will arrest you and put you in front of the next Court which is usually the following day. It is just not worth it at all. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Very timely video, thanks, as I am heading over the channel with my caravan for the first time next week. Its been a lot of hassle in terms of the documents as I drive and tow with a company car so had to have the company provide me with the v5c etc. Then I had to get a letter from them saying I had permission to use it in the country for the period of my holiday.
Also one thing to note about the hi-viz vests, they need to be accessible without leaving the vehicle, i.e. not in the boot.
Hi. Boy you did have a lot of hassle. Yes the vest do have to be within easy reach inside the cabin of the vehicle and not in the boot as you say. Enjoy your trip. Thanks Phil👍🙂
Just to add in Spain if you carry anything that extends the vehicle such as bike racks you need a hazard board attached, we also take a copy of any prescriptions for the medication we take, I just paid €1.32 for a litre of diesel from a Spanish supermarket but between €1.69 & €1.90 in France

Thanks for this video! Regarding disconnecting the caravan electrics on the Ferry - our caravan is 13yrs old and does not have electronic ATC. Is it still a good idea to disconnect?
Hi Paul thanks for watching. Good question, the answer is yes as the leisure battery will still draw from the car. Plus some ferry companies insist that is removed. Hope this helps. Phil 👍🙂
I was told the v5 just proves you are registered keeper and not owner …you’ll need a sales doc for car ….is that right
Hi Bob the owner may not be the keeper i.e. Company Car drive in which case you would need permission to take the vehicle out of the Country. It is classed as the keeper but in my case I am the owner as well hence me expalining that way. Thanks Phil.👍🙂
