As a Nigerian who have been living in UK and Europe for over 23 years, I've listened to many beautiful anthems from various nations, but South Africa's national anthem holds a special place in my heart. It is the BEST IN THE WORLD!! Its powerful melody and profound spiritual inflections evoke deep emotions and awaken my sense of true African identity. Whenever I hear it, I'm transported back to the first time I experienced its majesty and it sometimes gets me teary. It never loses that power to bring out the true realizations you have always had in your soul as an African. Viva SA!!!

Main composers and lyricists are from South African decent, (inKosi Sikalela iAfrica) which has become loved and respected worldwide.
You are soo wrong, it became a national anthem for a number of countries in Africa. Why not research this and find out? As a born and bred South African, I tried a bit of education for you to understand. Half truths don’t hold up. There’s plenty to look up and read about this amazing NATIONAL ANTHEM. It did start of as a hymn written by Enoch Sontonga, a Methodist mission school teacher. The words of the first stanza were originally written in Xhosa as a hymn. I’ve written more, now it’s time for you to do some research on this magnificent Anthem.

That was an incredible GOOSEBUMP moment....everyone has praised her for letting the crowd take the last part of the anthem and wants her to sing at every match because of how perfect it was
The banner reading "HULLE WEET NIE WAT ONS WEET NIE" means " They don't know what we know"

@@garryrock7039 There's no isiZulu in the national anthem. Unless I'm mistaken...
Our anthem never fails to give me goosebumps, every single time. Amazing anthem, amazing country!🤩🥰😍
The South African National Anthem is sung in four languages, namely Xhosa, Zulu, Sesotho, and Afrikaans, in addition to English. Each verse carries its own profound meaning, reflecting a shared history and a vision for a united nation.
The Xhosa and Zulu verses start with the words “Nkosi sikelel’ iAfrika,” which translate to “God bless Africa.” This opening line emphasizes the wish for divine guidance and protection for the African continent, acknowledging the challenges and seeking support in overcoming them.
The Sesotho verse, “Morena boloka setjhaba sa heso,” translates to “Lord, bless our nation.” It calls for the preservation and dedication of the people to the country, urging unity and standing together against any threats or divisions.
In Afrikaans, the verse speaks of the natural beauty of South Africa’s landscapes, with the lines “Uit die blou van onse hemel, Uit die diepte van ons see” meaning “From the blue of our skies, From the depth of our sea.” This verse celebrates the breathtaking scenery and the deep connection South Africans have with their land.
Never been more prouder to be South African!
This made me cry. Seeing everyone unite to sing the national anthem made me emotional.
It is a combination of two anthems, N'kosi Sikele and Die Stem. Nkosi Sikele is a pan-African liberation song and it's verses are in Xhosa, Zulu and Sesotho. Die Stem is the anthem from the old apartheid republic and is in two languages, Afrikaans and English. When South Africa was liberated Mandela and the ANC chose to combine the two together to represent the new South Africa, inclusive of all it's people.
❤❤❤ I love our Anthem! Usually brings a tear to my eye. That rendition had me straight up crying. Much love from South Africa.
Very powerful and emotional anthem.
Hey guys. Yes even I get goosebumps every time our national anthem is sung on the world stage... and yes it is sang in different languages to unify and accommodate every race group in our country....
That's one anthem that can make you feel proud to be South African. She sang it so beautifully wow
WE CALL IT PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN 🎉🎉🎉YES !!!
I truly think Nelson Mandela who pushed for the nation to embrace rugby as a whole, to look on it as a South African sport, not just an Afrikaner sport was a blessing. It was tough for the Black people around to do that because it always would have reminded them of the Apartheid era amongst other things. And then to think 30 years on, Rassie who is Afrikaans has so bought into that idea that he picked the best of South Africa's players who by merit alone are of all heights, widths, colours, races, languages and skills and they see each other not as friends or even South Africa's but as "Ngazi lethu" blood brothers knowing that whatever has happened to one has in fact to some extent happened to the rest as well.
Our coach of used the tactic of:
If he wanted the team to protect a section of the pitch from the opposition, in training, he would use the idea of "The opposition are your tsotsis, skollies, thieves, gangsters who are trying to get onto your property and want to steal or kidnap your family. And not only your family but the property and families of all your brothers on this pitch. YOU MUST DO what you can to prevent them at all costs to get on to the property.
The property being the goal line and the ball. And every South African in one way or another has experienced serious difficulties and tragedies and so we all are well too familiar with situations or threats of situations of that calibre. Which is why they play to such a level that the opposition always ALWAYS come away with bruises and sores they don't normally experience against other teams.
And it's because of this that the National Anthem rings so much truer and higher for our players coaches and supporters, and of course winning two RWCs in a row doesn't hurt in that regard.
@@Skyscraper2015 I absolutely just love what you just said...in s world where people seek to divide us by posting videos or comments about racism...our country has proven over and over that we all can live together peacefully and nothing can divide us. as collective of this rainbow nation.
@@Arti-ficiallyChi It certainly does. And the anthem is no different. Because it's a prayer to God to bless the nation, I would say, at least to a large extent that as a nation God has blessed South Africa. It is amazing to see how a sport which once divided the nation now has been used to unite. God has definitely blessed South Africa and united her children. Thank you Bru also for your comment.

If you research our national anthem since the dawn of democracy, it was highly divisive in the country. Thirty years later, it is the most unifying, sung in 3 languages. The American anthem is equally emotive. But South Africa shows what a fight for Unity is all about. We are not there yet...

Part of why that song was so special is that she read the room(stadium) and she allowed the crowd to finish the song. Very well done!

From Kenya....South Africa Anthem is top-notch
I am not South African, but I spent 38 years living next door to the country and was a frequent visitor there.. I am also an avowed "Springbok" Rugby supporter, "GO BOKKE"!! Whenever I hear "N'Kosi Sikilele i Africa", the South African National Anthem played, especially when as here, it is prior to a "Springbok" International match, I get a lump in my throat. One only has to look at the faces of those singing, whether in the crowd or on the pitch to see the passion it inspires, especially in the team captain, the iconic "Siya Kolisi".
