South African kids start playing rugby in primary school; at the youngest levels we play across only half the field, and later on when older graduate to the full field, but in all cases in bare feet as no togs allowed in those age groups.
I was chosen for the WP craven week team when I was in grade 7, was the most fun I ever had

Lots of Americans don’t eat meat until they visit South Africa simply because our meat taste different .

I played in Craven Week when I was 14yr I loved playing rugby but sadly I was not selected for pro rugby. Either way I enjoyed playing amateur and some touch rugby in my later years. Greatest sport ever.
Tx guys. What happens in south Africa is the boys start playing when they're very young. 8 or 9 years. So they're small small when they start. My son was 10 and in one season he got a cracked nose and a concussion 😂 we don't fuck around when it comes to rugby😂
Even younger than that. 6-7 they start with basics of touch, and not just at school, but club rugby, yes, club rugby for 6-7 year olds, 1st year of primary school.

I played town rugby after school well into my 20s. The amateur scene is very weak compared to England for example. But club rugby here is more of a social experience. After we try to injure the opponents for 80mins, we have a braai and drinks with everyone afterwards 😅
In 2015 SA had 300 players overseas whom never played any club or international games in or for SA that's more than 10 teams
