I think with the addition of grow lights that so many people are using now it doesn’t matter when you repot plants. In years past you had to worry about the amount of sunlight / bright light they would receive during the winter months. Now repotted plants under grow lights keep growing year round at least that’s what I have found to be true. 🌺💚🙃
If those grow lights are LED, they may be okay for plants, but they are NOT good for humans. Do some research. Do you know how? Or do you only listen to other people?
My plant situation is a mess.....really glad I met a plant UA-camr recently to help me start to think about things I'm doing wrong. Repot....maybe someday....window situation, all south facing, extreme light. Also, very afraid to move things around.....like I said, I'm a mess! 😂
I treated for flat mites yesterday. My Hoya Milsbo smells mildly like farts. 🤣 I really hope this helps! And I LOVE my new digital microscope Adam recommended!. 🔬
I don't really repot my bigger plants. Because I don't have big pots. Plus they are expensive. I have a dieffenbachia that still grows like crazy that I've had for just over 20 years,
Thanks for the sharing Bella! Another reason why your houseplants are not growing is root rot. I’ve caught a few cases of root rot by noticing stunted growth in my plants 🥲 And also, as someone who lives in the hotter parts of the globe, I find that sometimes my plants stop growing coz it’s too hot (I put them on my balcony).
I also repot and prop any time i even do it more in winter because im home more and my plant do great and they even grow i give them grow lighth 16 hours
I love organic fertilizers in my garden but have had a terrible experience indoors. I blame it for a fungus gnat outbreak and springtails inside. If using organic fertilizers indoors, do so sparingly and be prepared with a plan for if/when gnats come.
Great video Becca, thanks for the tips an how to get our plants to grow better, I think I have realized that lately and I have repotting a lot of my plants and they are much happier. I also do forget to fertilize them and have been trying to do that and I am sure they will start to show me how much happier they are. I hope that you have a wonderful day, stay happy and safe, sending love and hugs, bye for now. 😂🤗💜🌺🪴
Hi My dieffenbachia is 50" but its lower leaves are starting to yellow. I don't over water and do lightly fertilize. Its facing a south window and was doing well for years.
I think it was on one of your videos where you mentioned that Aglaonemas might have baskets around their roots. I just unpotted my 4, and 3 of them did. It was very difficult to remove them, but I did. Just fyi. I’m in Tulsa and got them from Lowes.
I’ve had a FLF for 1.5 years and I’m scared to repot it, it’s not growing much but it looks really healthy and I’m scared to disturb it even though the soil is compacted. Idk what to do
I up potted a monstera d new soil couple months ago and ever since no new nothing. I think its getting enough light idk maybe she liked her tight pot. the new growth it put out from right before I up potted still isn’t hardened off either
Monstera deliciosa likes to be root bound. You wouldn’t want to repot it until the roots wraps around at the bottom of the pot a lot , and only upsize the pot a little bit. Maybe you can move it to a brighter location (bright but not direct light) …
I would think the dormant period would be the best time to repot. Just like the best time to move outdoor plants is early spring or late fall. Or trimming trees in late winter or early spring.
can adding a stakec also help? i'm planning to switch to a plank but i noticed within DAYS of adding a bamboo stake to my new monstera that it got its first new leaf since the one that was coming out when i bought it!
I am a wierdo 😁🙃! I have so many pest fighters🤣😂. I hate to jinx myself but,I have never had to use them yet but,I am ready 😂😂. My north facing windows are being used. Upstairs where it's warmer for Maranta,Calathea and Stromanthe. East sun reflects off of the white house nextdoor. They grow like weeds with no crispy edges💗💗. Downstairs, my Pothos varieties and heart leaf Philodendron are beasts as well, climbing on the window 💗💗,with command hooks and sizing up quickly. I have 2 southern facing windows. One has my crown of thorns that blooms all year and a ruby euphorbia trigona(?), The one with little leaves along the edges, huge beasts, along with a two year old Avocado tree that has always been indoors. My small cacti and Philodendron are in my east facing window with Hoya as well. All doing well.🥰🥰💖💖🤞. I don't have a cabinet, really no place to put one. I have one Begonia upstairs in north window with Maranta family, in a bubble. So far so good. Just arrived last week. Okay, it's been months or at least Manny weeks since you received your Warby Parker glasses. I said, out loud, PLEASE KEEP THE GREEN ONES! I am so glad you did!!🤩😍🤩😍. They are so you,I love them on you!🥰💗. All of the videos that you have had them on,I wanted to comment but, got distracted.🙄. Today, as always, you are so pretty! I love you having room in your plant room to just kick back and film💖💖. Okay AND, is that a macrame headband? Did you make it? Thank you for this video 🥰😍💓
What happens when the plant is in a huge pot? I just up-potted some plants that I’ve had for 10+ who were root bound. Now they are in xl outdoor pots, about 24 inches or larger, and I’m hoping they can stay there for another 10 years.
Pests are the worst, somehow I got root aphids a couple of years ago and it is tragic. If your plant looks fine, but one isolated part is dying, check for root aphids. It's the worst because once you see them, your plant is already dead.
How long does a cactus take to give signs of… de@th? Because, I have had a cactus that I gave to my boyfriend as a gift (so technically it’s not mine, but I’m still the one who “cares” for it), and he keeps it on his work desk in the darkest area of our east facing apartment. It’s been now over two years and he’s still there… it hasn’t changed AT ALL! To the point where I questioned if it’s even real or plastic bc.. how? It yes, I figured it’s in fact a real cactus 🌵!
@@beckythebealge i know that too! I was ready for it to die within 3 months.. but it’s been over 2 years now.. I’m so confused 😂 not complaining tho! Lol
Another thing is underwatering and the concept of plants wanting to dry out. No plants (excluding desert plants) want to dry out. You don’t want the humidity in the substrate to drop below 60% because below that the root hairs that take up nutrients and water dry out and die off. When this happens it will significantly slow down the growth of your plants. I literally cringe whenever I see someone using terracotta on their tropical plants in general, but especially with very chunky substrate in low/mid-range humidity. YOU ARE HARMING YOUR PLANTS 🫣 😂
@@lisesijtema907 I’ve been mentored by a botanist and she has been doing this for 20 years. Botany is a science. Think I’ll go with her knowledge as opposed to anecdotal information from amateur plant owners 😂

@@oolumyou think led is unsafe to humans?!?!?😂 you realize the majority of lights are led or becoming led
One that I noticed as well, is that if you are inconsistently watering your plant will have a hard time growing. Great video as always!!!
I’m definitely an underwaterer and I’m pretty sure that’s why mine don’t grow fast. 🌺💚🙃

Not really. You want your plant to be in its most active growth phase for it to establish quickly in the new substrate and pot.
Thank you for this video!
