  • There is a continuity on this video until harvest...Remember to check out the Part 2 - • How to grow pineapple ...
    Take heart. Growing pineapple requires lots of patience because it grows very slowly. The good part is very hardy and does not need much care or have any pest-related issues. I have made a video showing the growth rate of seeds vs the crown method in this Part 1. Remember to check out part 2 as well...both videos took more than a year to complete!!

    You don't need to root them in water. I twist the crown off the pineapple, remove the lower leaves, and it goes straight into a 1 gallon nursery pot and in my greenhouse (to keep the wind from blowing it over. South Texas is very windy).

    Please correct me if I am wrong but hasn’t calcium carbide been known to leave dangerous to human trace elements within the fruit. Yes it works well but from an ethical point is possible human detriment worth you speeding up the fruiting process by 6-12months to put extra money in your pocket? Am no expert or academic so happy to be corrected if someone has studied this subject and is referring to peer reviewed sources. I personally use a bag and put an apple in to rot to get the same affect without the possible trace elements but also could understand it may not be viable to do on a commercial scale. Great video though thanks :)

    - How often to water if outside? Once a week?

    Any answer would be much appreciated 😄

    • @TonysExploration
      @TonysExploration  Рік тому +2

      The watering very much depends on your site weather and climate....a good way to tell if the top 1 inch surface is dry...then is time to water...Don't too bother on the fertilizer, it doesn't have to be the exact same as the video.....during growing up stage, a good equal NPK ratio fertilizer will do, or any good organic nitrogen source like composted manure..When it start to fruit, then switch to those lower N , but higher in P and K.
