    Hey Chris, Luka Dolman here, spearfishing charter captain in the Tuamotus. Wanted to ask you if you had any experience with cable (metal wire) shooting line for hunting doggies and if you’ve got any opinions on it. Appreciate your time!

      Hey Luka, This is a massive topic. Guys lean towards cable saying its good for not losing your shaft to sharks. But 9 times out of ten the sharks buckel the shaft anyway. You at least get your $100 slip tip back.
      Dyneema is limited to 120-140kg breaking strain, which is roughly equivalent to the load of 3 large floats. So is borderline strong enough.
      I guess if the cable is not affecting your shot there is no reason not to use it.
      On shafts 8mm and less dyneema is probably better.
      I do need to do more tests but I have noticed cable affecting the shaft speeds on the thinner shafts.

    Gannet floats better than Rob Allen and Riffe floats?

    • @CoatesmansSpearfishing
      @CoatesmansSpearfishing  2 роки тому

      As said in the video pros and cons to both. Gannet are very well made. RA are much lighter and pack away better. Riffe are old skool but still work.

    Tuna clips that open? Really? Actual tuna clips or Chinese knock offs? Long liners will disagree me think.
