Prime 2 was very much a grower for me so i can understand why it doesnt get as much love but its at least on par with prime 1. Would love to see more of this style of content from you about the prime games - the metroid2002 forums were my intro into speed running and sequence breaking but im pretty sure the tricks on there probably arent even a fraction of what we can do now .
I would always joke about how I couldn't speedrun this game because I was NEVER going to do that robot-hop dash over and over and over. This is such a nostalgia trip, and so well produced and made me laugh out loud many times. I'll always love this game, thanks for keeping it alive in the community!
It hasnt even premiered yet but I cannot wait. The amount of times it has been mentioned in the rando vods for it to finally drop?!? Super proud of you man
Really great watch! Editing, script, and comedic timing we're all super well done, I genuinely enjoyed the entirety of the video. Congrats on finishing the video, I know you worked really hard to finish it, can't wait to see your next big thing! SFMPWWTPOGGT
This was a very enjoyable watch! It was super fun to hear the little snippets of how the video was progressing during it's making and got me even more excited to see it finally online. Also shout-outs to Extended Dash being found in Prime 3 and being re-discovered in Prime 2 about a Decade later, history like that will never not be funny to me.
Just stumbled on this video, production and narration is better than channels with 100x the subs and views. Looking at your past videos, you've made the transition from livestream to structured content masterfully.
I’m not by any means a speedrunner, but I’ve always hated this room and trick. It’s awesome to watch this skip because of how much screw attack breaks the game, but it sucks because of how much time a mistake could take you.
This video is literally perfect. The "I forgor" and 2010 extended dash also encapsulate some of my feelings of when it's really hard to find a video of a trick. Sometimes the resources available to us can feel really unorganized. Even these history videos have explanations that would be super useful for someone trying to learn to run these games. Awesome!
this legitimately inspires me to maybe try echoes speedruns. i've never tried one before. i knew about this room so i always left the game on the shelf. but the barrier to entry looks more viable than ever to actually get into. thank you bash
Man I just got done with some really boring and tiring work stuff, its 5am and clicked on this thinking I was gonna fall asleep to it and ended up watching the whole thing through lmao. Excellent editing and humor! I'm so gonna run some randomizers on this game now
Amazing editing, great soundtrack selection, no yt supremacists, my favorite Metroid game... Gosh I gotta check out your channel! ...Maybe do Prime 3 next? 👀👀👀
Me watching this video: Woah this new dash tech is incredibly cool, I had no idea this was possible Bash: Hey dumbass YOU found this FOURTEEN YEARS AGO
I wish emulators were allowed for official speedrun uploads. I have a 2:46 any % for the trilogy version and a 3:42 for 100% on the same version. Ik emulators make it easy for people to cheat and thats why they aren’t allowed but its still annoying. I do have a mod for dual analog but if it werent for the emulator rule I would actually be on the leaderboards 😭
Just finished watching this. Really makes me want to learn Echoes speedrunning but I have no idea where to start. I need a guide. Also can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the song that plays at 30:26
I recommend checking out the Metroid Prime speedrun wiki at metroidprime.run. Has links to trick info and community discord servers song is Rising Island Chain, also known as Approaching the Wind Temple, from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
This is a poor telling of this room's history. The original, April 2005 hop onto the robot by kip was *NOT* a dash, but the roll jump (m2k2: speed_tricks_topic722.html). The roll jump was then duplicated by silent_echo in August 2005 during his segmented any% (archive: MetroidEchoes_143). It was the only method known at the time. Nobody knew a dash jump was possible until August 2006, when DJ Grenola got stuck repeatedly retrying the roll jump in GA during segmented 17%. Forced to innovate, he invented the dash out of desperation (m2k2: 17_run_madness83.html). This dash then became the standard method.
Damn. I did get that wrong, sorry. That run madness thread completely slipped through the cracks when I was searching the Echoes m2k2 posts. I assumed that the April 2005 discussion was about the dash - the .avi that kip uploaded is lost media to the best of my knowledge, so at best it was ambiguous to me without that second thread. I was worried I was going to get the early parts of the story wrong, and this confirms that I indeed made a mistake. the m2k2 citations are much appreciated

Absolutely a huge pleasure to have been so involved with the making of this video. Thanks for trusting me to assist you with this large project, Bash.
I could not have asked for a better, more capable producer to help me with finding the voice and direction for this video. Absolute homie

Super tight editing dude, I’m really impressed! Hope you’re happy with the end result!
I got this recommended after watching some Echoes' 20th anniversary interview. Really interesting, thanks for making it. :)
He's finally here, performing for you, if you know the tricks, you can join in too

Dude, amazing video, love finally seeing it after hearing you talk about it being in the works!
beyond excited to have niche speedrunning content about a game I actually know! Great work, you ARE Bash Prime!
I got to learn a lot about Echoes and maybe just a little bit about myself. Great video!
I knew there was a lot of history with this room, but not THAT MUCH! And Screw Attack can do WHAT??
Great video dude :D

I like these vids, Bash. For someone who loves watching Randos/Speedruns but has never done one themself, it’s super informative and interesting.
Did this take time to make? Yes.
Was it worth it? Hell yes.
Looking forward to more in the future? Fuck. Yes.
He actually finished the video. I wasn't sure this day would ever come.
Such a well made video. I absolutely adore the recorded footage.

Awesome vid, I had no idea so much progress had been made with new strats. The randomizers are such a blast to!
Amazing Editing!
I wasn't aware of the history this one room had! I love the way this was put together and told!
The vaulth giveeth and the abyss takes thee away
Very well done. I really enjoyed getting caught up on P{rime 2's speedrunning lore. Subbed.
Thank you!
Such a great vid
Awesome video. Prime 2 is my favorite game of all time. One day I wanna try to speedrun it
I just hope it gets a remaster. I like Echoes, but I'd rather not sit through the bullshit of the original boost and spider guardians again.
I love the mouths edited in. Just the right amount of weirdness to be entertaining and funny.
Good video man, love the editing on it too 💪🏽
The storytelling in this video is amazing!
Also I love Metroid Prime 2, my favorite Prime game (so far... that Metroid Prime 4 Beyond looks insane)

This was a roller coaster lmfao
Amazing little video essay about this broken game I love.
I'm in there too 32:31
The editing in this video and this dude’s smile makes me feel like he’s a psychopath.
Oh no you figured it out
BANGEERRRRR
This was very good
So what happens if I kill GA again? *runs* (also amazing video!)
Fantastic video. I hope you make more 👍

where is Summoning Salt to do a speedrun history of prime 2?

How do you get this to be HD???
Dolphin emulator and Nystrata's widescreen mod
@@BashPrime ah, ok. I’ll have to look into that.
Ok now find a way to boost jump in Prime 1. I can't do this extended dash BS for early double jump or balance on the rock
On GameCube? You can just do a regular scan dash
