Love your videos Amy but they always make me so hungry! It's so nice how you make friends with literally everyone you meet when you travel places. It makes such a difference to see you chatting away with locals and owners, really makes it feel like I'm truly getting an insight in to the authentic side of each place's cuisine
omg I would live at that 2nd place! So glad you went even though it only had 8 reviews. That lady was so adorable and the food looked amazing. It reminds me a lot of korean bbq. I eat perilla leaves every week they are so good 😋
That barbecue is extremely cheap omg And the food in the second restaurant is similar to KBBQ restaurant! I love how the place looks. Even as a Korean, if this restaurant exists near me, I would go there instead of eating KBBQ
My wife calls that leaf wrap the "Heilongjiang Sushi" We put rice in there as well. Plus various other shoots and leaves, wrap it up and scoff it down. I'm from NZ but yeah the Dongbei beef (and lamb) bbq and beers are just like home. 37 deg here yesterday fyi. Always love your vids down here. I miss Dongbei so thanks as always and keep them coming cuz from across the ditch :)

🤣小土豆?! OMG, but that’s also remind me of the first time I ever gone to Haerbin. Yup definitely, I was in red buffing winter coat. While my friends who are local just went with grey and black coat.
As a Chinese temporarily living in the US, I always feel XingYue is more like a Chinese than an American. She dressed and talked like a typical Chinese girl. Sometimes in this video I even have this feeling that XingYue's Chinese is more fluent than English😂😂😂 I wish my English could be as good as XingYue's Chinese.😊😊😊
and here we are in the Antipodes - the "Great Southern Land' being baked and roasted away .... your snow-swept wintery scene helped me cool down a bit. Thanks!
Actually, because potatoes were imported into China back in the time, it’s called “YangYu洋芋”, “Yang洋” means foreign, literally means “foreign taro”. While potato also has a name “TuDou土豆”, literally means “beans from the earth”(potatoes used to be really small), but “土”also has a meaning of “local”. So, “TuDou土豆” stands for Chinese (local) and “YangYu洋芋” stands for foreigners😂😂
i subscribed bc you said it would mean the world to you :) what a great episode. Two beautiful white girls exploring china with class and courage. Man, you guys are living life.
Cannot believe you visited my hometown Qiqihar and even brought Xingyue with you. I would say Qiqihar has nothing better compares to Harbin but we do have the BEST BBQ on grille in China for sure lol.
OMG, no way! I had been waiting for you to go to my hometown, and try the BBQ there. You finally tried it! It was the best 👏🏻. There's so much more delicious food in Qiqihar, wish I could bring you to try more local dishes!!
Thanks for another fun food adventure! I will not be able to try that delicious beef. Too cold, too far! But it's good that you took a clear pic of the restaurant name! I can recommend it to other travelers! Happy new year to you & loved ones! May you have good fortune & good health!
I am in love with this channel... meat, meat, meat 😆😆 Fat is fat, but it is so delicious (to consume with moderation). To be honest, i love vegetables too. Ok, I am going to prepare a Beef Bourguignon (carrot, leek, olive, tomatoes, big chunks of beef with bone and fat and French wine) for dinner 🤪 My dream is to have a trip in China with my entire family and try all these foods. 🤩
Love that you gave a lesser known restaurant a chance. Also love that you ladies are not afraid of fat and have good appetites. I did not realize perilla leaves were eaten outside of Korea.
The "xiaotudou" reference is not just the way they bundled themselves up in layers. It's also a reference to the difference in stature between northerners and southerners. Northerners in general are on average still taller and bigger than southerners due to their dna admixture.
Wow finally Qiqihar! My home town. Every time when I am back home I will have numerous Qiqihar bbq🎉. After trying many bbq in European countries, Middle Eastern countries and many provinces of China, I find that the Qiqihar style bbq (sliced beef bbq on plates) is the best!
Wow,your friend is so cute and funny but damn, didn't realise she can speak such excellent Mandarin! Btw,this is so interesting and informative, had no idea this part of China produces such excellent beef until now. You can tell just by looking at the deep almost black colour of that beef with the fat that it's top notch, and that chef knows just like any top steak houses worldwide that with such excellent beef no seasoning is required, just a little salt and pepper. How come the foodie world hasn't heard of this? Forget your exorbitantly priced Wagyu and Kobe beef, just get this for a fraction of the price but just as tasty!😂
Many restaurants offering top-notch service and cuisine in China get drowned out by the crowd of establishments paying for traffic through fake reviews due to the algorithms of traditional rating apps. However, with the emergence of new apps like Xiaohongshu in recent years, there has been a counterbalance to the traditional rating software. Moreover, many locals frequent these restaurants but seldom use these rating apps. I'm glad that Amy and Xingyue stuck to your opinions and visited this exceptional restaurant! Looking forward to your next video.❤
@@laurayu3076understand but I’m wondering if the concept of eating around a grill is an original Chinese concept that extended from hotpot or if it’s a recent concept maybe imported from korean bbq
