This is just a constructive criticism--not meant to be mean: The end of the tape measure is drawn parallel to the table edge, but given the angle that the tape is sitting on the table's surface, it cannot be so. The end of the tape must be perpendicular with the tape itself. I assume the medium here is oils?
Thanks for the comment. The tape has a little twist in it, as sometimes happens with many years of use. But I can see how that creates some tension. Medium is turps to start with and linseed oil for the main part.

Thanks. For this painting, the background is mostly white with some ultramarine blue, yellow ochre, and burnt umber mixed in.
