Yi Bang won, played by Jang Hyuk is not a character it's an art. From the very start of my country they showed us his full potential, the powerful aura around him was too suffocating, politics was also on the edge, the way he puts everyone under his feet, the way he hates anyone crossing boundaries he'd drawn for them, obsessing over Hwi and portraying how he wasn't crowned but ruled the kingdom and by overpowering his father King Taejo . I find him so breathtakingly attractive in my country, he had lived the character and audience like me had loved it!. He also played Yi Bangwon in Empire of Lust, it was nothing compared to this I'm beholden to him in someway. And thank you for this mv.
I wanted to watch other YI Bang Won shows because of this performance.I started watching the king of tears and it was quite the shock how completely different the character was.
Jang Hyuk nailed his role. You can’t take your eyes out of him…the way he moves, the way he laughs, the way he goes here , there and everywhere but the best thing by far is the way he uses the fan…It’ s a language itself and I know what I’m talking about ‘cause I’m Spanish and my grandma talked to me about the meanings, the movements and the feelings expressed with this artifact and fortunately showed me how to open and close a good fan to have pleasure doing it. Fab Jang Hyuk, he should be the favorite fan user to my grandma…♥️♥️♥️♥️
absolutely the best character in My Country. I started the series because of my boy WDH but Seon-ho spent all his time full of self-hate and feeling sorry for himself over all the mess he created himself, Seo Hwi spent the entire series with misguided loyalty trying to save Seon-ho from himself after Seon-ho destroyed Hwi's life. Bang-won was the most fascinating and complicated character. Jang Hyuk created a character that was so ambitious and unlikeable but yet you cheered him on hoping that he would win. And the way he delivered his dialogue in that quiet menacing tone that would suddenly explode into a terrifying shout simply mesmerized. I started My Country because of WDH but loved the series because of Jang Hyuk.
i cant imagine bang won being played by another actor. jang hyuk slays his role! i never felt even a bit of hate for this character despite being brutal and ambitious, jang hyuk kept his words that he would play this role by showing the humane side of bang won.
The ending of this drama. I feel very sad for his character. The way he complimented himself and said "you did well" while tears rolling down his face, it's heartbreaking 😭💔. In the end, he's still alone.
I'm in awe of this man, anything he puts his hands on turns to gold and at this point I'm low key disappointed that more people aren't into his stuff. There's this arrogant tilt he has for his character that's just ohh and then the laugh, I rewatch FTLU and Beautiful mind for that crazy laugh. Wish him all the success

The history of taejong is very sad. It is supposed that in history, in real history, he did absolutely everything to reach the throne. He got rid of everyone, and once he obtained the throne, he educated and helped many people, but he also ordered to kill those who helped him ascend to the throne. So that people could see that they were complying with their own laws. He accomplished a lot in that dynasty, but it is so sad that at that moment to make his dreams come true and help other people, he has to get rid of many more. For that he is a very controversial character.

So his ideal dream was to make people without resources get the help they really need. And he made a kind of "office" where people could enter and ask the king for help. He listened to them and helped them (That was already when he ascended the throne) I love the history of this dinasty of joseon. Taejong (Yi bangwon) did a lot of things to help people. [Oh,and Bonus: actor Jang hyuk starred in the same role as bang won in the Empire of lust movie.]
