- LIAM BLACKFORD | AUSSIE UNDERAGE BATTER’S NET SESSION WITH SCOLLS
Today’s video is from Tuesday 11th February when I was in Geelong, Victoria. It’s of a session I had with Australian under 16 batter Liam Blackford. This is part 1 where we worked on his game against pace.
G’day legends. My name is Tom Scollay and this is my Vlog. I’m a former professional cricketer [I played for Middlesex CCC from 2010-2012] and now play first grade in the WACA premier competition in Perth. In 2016 I founded Cricket Mentoring. This vlog documents my life as a coach and player and as I strive to grow Cricket Mentoring into a global brand. Thanks for joining me on this journey. How do u hit the ball into gaps?
By hitting it into the gaps.
timing
with the bat
Visualisation in the nets - imagine where fielders will be or ask the bowler what field he is going to set and work hard (especially on your top hand) on hitting the ball where you want to hit it. Object of the game is to score runs so work on foundation with lots of practice but also think all the time about where you want to hit the ball.

Hi sir how we can take a session at cricket mentoring
Where u from
He’s more interested in looking at himself on the screen then listening to You, maybe show him the video after so he can work on it the next session, or tell him what he’s doing wrong. Seems like the lad is distracted to me. Also with his trigger it seems like he’s playing at almost every ball (maybe nothing to do with the trigger, but looks like his head falls over slightly) but also leaving the same ball that he just drove. Anyway good vid.
Imran Khan start commenting on others when you play for Australia
That's harsh. The video is surely there for him to self-analyse/reflect - so it's teaching him to do that in between balls (like in a game)
Looks a top prospect
James Fortescue what does that have to do with anything? Silly comment really, it’s an observation/opinion. Does look a decent player
Liam Howgate yea maybe mate, maybe felt like he was more interested in that, I’m possibly wrong. Anyway decent young player
Imran Khan fair enough mate, just you don’t need to watch the video and then write an essay criticising it. Bit weird but okay...
