9:38 cred is NOT the company that cares about the product that comes out. Just because it looks great and kinda works on your iPhone 15 doesn't mean it is "functional".
It was lagging horribly in my old android phone.
People were complaining not because the design is noticeable, but because it is no longer allowing them to do what they want to do. claiming a cashback should be a single step process. adding flashy spinning wheel with animations that take up to 3-4 seconds just for 2rs cashback would infuriating to anyone.

As one of Cred's early adopters, I've observed with surprise how the company is increasingly prioritizing flashiness over providing real value through its app. What's even more bewildering is their apparent pride in generating polarized opinions. While aesthetics are important, should an app be celebrated primarily for its design rather than its functionality? If Cred aims to be a design-centric company, perhaps they should fully commit to that path and become a design-only, rather than a design first company. They don't even let you search anything in the app, and they are so proud of this stupid restriction. Just the other day I wanted to find a travel deal for a specific country and I couldn't do it.
It's evident to me that this trajectory will lead to the company's downfall, with their designers and their pigheadedness inadvertently contributing to its demise.

its feels something like fashion show for application. App animations are better than most of the basic games out there. They deserve praise where its due but they need a strong functional flow. They are over engineering/designing the app. Its like they come up with designs and animations first and then decide which functionality can we put this animation in.

What folks at CRED probably miss is that the criticism of CRED design isn't on its aesthetics or the visual design but rather the experience. Folks from CRED tend to draw a strawman when asked this question and they question the other people's visual design sense and hence missing the point. CRED is an amazingly crafted product but not a well designed one.

Once you have roti, kapda and makaan sorted you see 1000s of other problems, if not then these 3 are the only problems to be solved, What a beautiful constraint to keep in mind, thank you for having him:)

Nice One. A few questions you can incorporate are what products they like/Dislike and how they would change anything if they were product designers. Product usage frequency and design things designers follow etc.

Absolutely loved this podcast! Atul Khola's approach to handling tricky questions like those on CRED and CRED Coins was impressive. Kudos for bringing him on board! Also, can we take a moment to appreciate his style? I just loved the shirt and that minimalist white bracelet, which perfectly complements his overall look. And his insight on the value of Google Pay was spot on - it's not just about cashback, but the convenience of leaving our wallets behind.

I dont like CRED much cos they have gone very bad with Credit cashbacks since this year.
But their UI and Product design in App is topclass. Infact world class.
There was one time they using Roman Statues theme.. That was LIT

I don't think they are understanding that while their visual design is amazing, it is not serving any purpose of an easy experience.

My opinion: Cred's UI/UX feels heavy and confusing. Ofc, controversial design choices makes some people shit about them over on the internet which keeps the platform feel alive, but I think the confounding variable here is that they are doing *something different* looks and ux wise than the rest of their competitors (most look awfully similar) and being different does not necessarily mean being better(in the design department). I think humans get bored if they are fed something for a long time regardless of the quality of the product, sometimes a change(not necessarily better) might spark interest in them. I wonder if cred conducts extensive A/B tests to make decisions or just rely on design team for the most parts or a hybrid where they do both.
Btw, I use cred coz of the measly returns that I get when transacting and a great one stop solution to paying cred card bills.
