Good episode. Personally I think Stephen King is at his best when writing short stories, so I would recommend his anthologies. The bonus is that get to see him tackle a lot of different themes and styles.

Thanks so much for watching/listening! I (Chris) have only read one of his shorts, and it was Survivor Type. Absolutely haunting 😅

Great podcast. Adaptations of Stephen Kings horror/sci-fi books have always been tough to pull off successfully. In my opinion, both interations of IT were successful in conveying the multi-layer stories he writes.
I'd personally start with Different Seasons. Four short stories that include The Shawshank Redemption and The body (Stand by me). Looking forward to the next upload!

There were some real missed opportunities for genuine creepy scares in the movies. The Patrick Hockstetter character alone has a few moments in the book that would've been great to see on film. He is a true psychopath who murdered his infant brother when he was young. He is also a sexual predator. I can't believe they cut is death scene in the book (involving a refrigerator) down to some generic zombie jump scare in the sewers. All in all, they could've gone a lot darker in tone and straight up scarier with the film than they ended up doing.
