Shawshank is one of my favourites. Wonderful, entertaining, insightful talk! Had never considered Red as the main protagonist, I’ll chew on that for a while.
Wow you guys actually read my email, I feel so honored!!!!!! Thanks so much, you really are nice dudes!!
Altaf I think you are right that it's technically a novella, part of Different Seasons, one of four of SKs longer short stories 💜
Thank YOU For writing in! 😁
Lovely video ❤ this movie is my second favorite, following another paul dano movie coincidentally, swiss army man. But god yeah, this movie is like so perfect to me. I love it so much
I have a huge love for firefighters as someone who had a house fire as a kid. Hopped off the school bus and walked across the train tracks to see a bunch of fire trucks at my house and flames shooting out of my room and firemen just throwing all my belongings out the window. But I can't even imagine what it's like for a whole community to go through a fire and knowing it's coming towards you, because it was just us navigating the aftermath of a surprise fire.
Wow, that sounds horrifying! Glad you're okay. Yeah, it's been a crazy week and we're thankful for all first responders
You guys should react to tropic thunder. It's one of the funniest comedy movies out there.
wow my guy said Click.. my 1st Christopher Walken was King of New York that shows my age lol
In nadsat "slooshy" means "to hear" or "listen to" from the Russian.
One thing I love about this movie is how much trust the director gave the actors in developing their characters. It's so subtle I'm certain most people missed it -- in fact, I just discovered this in watching a recent reaction. There is a scene when they get to the Beryllium Sphere planet where they're walking to the mine, and Sam Rockwell is bringing up the rear -- but he's making quick twists with his head and shoulders looking all around because he's convinced something is going to pop out of the woodwork to kill him. 😀
I am pretty old and have seen over 2000 films. I have seen this film at least 4 times. It is is in my top 25 which is pretty darn good for that many films. Colin Farrell best performance in his life. So sad, so funny. This is near perfect. Side note: met Farrell in South Dakota at a bar. He and a friend were driving to NYC where he was doing a role in 10 days or so. I asked him if I could buy him beer. He said no…He would buy me one. I told him I loved him in The New World. In a very self deprecating way, he said thanks, you are the only one. I gained loads of respect for him and began to closely following his career. And in real life his accent is very, very Irish
What a great story!!!
@@MoviesThatChangedUs Yes my one claim to fame 😀
I don't think Ken dying is in vain. However, I don't think his reason for his sacrifice is to get to heaven or some better place. I think that Ken, Ray and Harry are all normal people who chose to do bad things and that makes them bad people, unlike some Hannibal Lecter monster that is born bad. Harry and Ken are both trying to do the right thing to alleviate their feelings of being bad people. Harry isn't avenging a kid or punishing Ray he is simply trying to reconcile what he has done with his moral code. He is not trying to buy his way into heaven. Ken is the same. He believes Ray is a good guy who made a mistake and redeeming him, not robotically killing him by Harry's orders, is his moral code. They are both driven to their extremes of their moral code to balance their extreme evil. If you notice, both Ken and Harry are just as miserable as Ray is. Ray is simply younger and is dealing with a guilt bomb what he did to the kid. Either way all three are running away from their problems in their ways instead of just not being bad people anymore.
That’s an interesting take! Everyone’s avoiding facing the music
One of those rare, pretty much perfect films. An absolute gem that's really hard to categorize, like many of the best movies. Amazing writing, performances and cinematography. Edit: I hope you and yours are OK. Take care, nice dudes!🥃🥃
We’re safe! Thank you for checking in ❤️
If you haven't seen it, McDonagh won his Oscar for the short film "Six Shooter". It's available on UA-cam.
Oooh I didn’t know about this. Thanks for the recommendation
I’ve loved this movie since I first watched it. It’s so damn good. Absolutely top 10 favorite movie of all time. Maybe even top 5
I'm sure this has been said but I'm pretty sure that he needs the medicine to stay stable but I believe him coming down off of the pills is kind of what makes him go crazy too.
My favorite movie. I was alone one night and watched this on PBS. Realized what a tour de force it was and soon all my friends would come over to watch this movie every year. This was in the 1970’s when it had gone into public domain and every PBS station could show it free. Very good in depth review. The acting and facial expressions are wonderful. How Stewart did not win an Academy Award is beyond me.
There's something about your voices and vibe that is very comforting in my ear while I work. Hope you both had a great holidays and I'm looking forward to seeing more in 2025!
So happy to hear that. Thanks so much for your support!
Go to UA-cam and pull up "When love is gone". It was cut from muppet Christmas Carol because the producer thought that it was too sad. That's why Rizzo is crying when Scrooge and his feoncé(?) break up.
I really enjoyed the horror movies I watched in 2024. Some notable ones were Late Night With the Devil, I Saw the TV Glow, Nosferatu, and Oddity. Dune 2 was epic for sure. I love you guys! Poop! lol
I personally really love both the Gene Wilder film and the Johnny Depp film. Both have such a staple to my childhood. While the Gene Wilder Wonka had more heart in terms of Charlie like I felt like he really deserved to get the golden ticket, I liked how the Depp film gave more of a backstory on Wonka. Like we knew nothing about Wonka in the Wilder film other than he ran a factory and hired oompa loompas. I mean sure it's not necessary to give a backstory on him but I liked that the Depp film did that. I also believe if I'm not mistaken the Depp film is more faithful to the book. I also think both Wilder and Depp gave hilarious portrayals of their versions of the character. All in all, both films are equal in my opinion.
Special fan here lol Happy new year and even though I cant rattle down a whole top ten something that was a highlight this year for me was Warframe 1999 both game and music wise because the nostalgia and innovative way to bring music and gameplay together and also taking the game itself to the next level. And maybe I should finally watch Fallout series and see if I like it. I have watched a lot of reaction channels and podcasts talking about the past or stuff I already experienced. I seem to no longer be keen to discover new things but relive the good and play the ones I missed. I have games from 10 years ago still waiting in my steamlist. With that said, hoping to watch and listen to more about the movies that changed us!
My number 1 this year is Outer Wilds, a game that I haven't stopped thinking about since I played it earlier this year. I highly recommend trying it out with as little knowledge as possible, as it is very story focused.
Hope you guys had a great holiday. Doing my best to stay nice for 2025.
GLENN! Thank you again so much! Your kindness is unheard of. We hope you have a great holiday too! Stay nice ❤️
The reason that you cant ser the face or hear the voice of the Ghost of christmas yet to come is becourse noone knows what the future looks like or sounds like.
MICHAEL CAINE: Noises Off, Alfie, The Italian Job, Sleuth, Deathtrap, and MOST IMPORTANTLY: Dirty, Rotten, Scoundrels (MY introduction to Mr. Caine)
Charles Dickens' great great grandson Gerald does a one man show of A Christmas Carol every year. He's come here to KC for over 20 years now, and my family goes every year. He has stated many times that this is his favorite version. ❤
Harry Dunne
Thank you!!!
I emailed this in but wanted to note it here in case anyone else didn't know this but this movie has a post credit scene
Oh yeah thanks for the email! We forgot to mention it on the pod but we knew about that 😁
If you like Michael Caine. I recommend Get Carter (1971)
I really like the Marley and Marley song. It has a fun bounce to it. But at the end, the last word, I'm sure they yell "chains" but I swear I hear "change". And I wonder if that's on purpose.
