- I love the way this fiery red orange background turned out! Follow along with me here to learn how to paint this. I used oil paint and paint thinner here, but you can substitute that for acrylic paint and water. I painted a butterfly bush and hummingbird (as part of my "How to Paint Flowers Series", but you can paint whatever you want. The possibilities are endless. I'm excited to see what you'll do with this background! Please don't forget to share your project with me on my Facebook page. Good luck!

I'd like to have a day where I do this technique in different colors on a variety of canvases just to have them ready to go. The hardest part about this is finding a day LOL!! Do love this technique though, I will use acrylic. thanks for the tutorial!

LOVE YOUR WORK!!! ?Paint thinner for oil and water for acrylic?
i have a lot of oil paint, can i get the same consistency from the oil paints as the acrylics? what would I need to mix?
was wondering If u could do an acrylic painting of the northern lights?Love your work
Beautiful. This is acrylic paint right? I dont have a paint thinner, can I use water instead?
+Rowena Carbon This is actually oil paint, but you can use acrylic and water, instead.
Oh no wonder the color is so dramatically rich. Beautiful, I will the acrylic and see how it will trurn out. Good luck to myself because am still strugling with my drawibg and strokes. Super THANK YOU for the tutorial video.
+Rowena Carbon I struggle, too. We're all in this together. :)

😍🔥💗💗💗💗💗🙏🏼
Love it! Just the technique I'm looking for, trying to create a pop of light from within other colors would you do this with darker colors? Thank you
+Anna Pace You can use this technique with a wide variety of colors. Check out my Background Painting playlist for more ideas. I'll also be posting several more tutorials using the same technique, but different colors, over the next few weeks. Come back and check them out!
Can you please do it for Pink color
can you achieve this technique on wood? Thanks
Love it! But what do you mean when you say "paint thinner"? The only paint thinner I am aware of is plain old turpentine. Is that what you suggest, or is there something more 'modern'?
Thank you, Amy, for everything you share with us.
It's nothing special. Just pain turpentine or mineral spirits.
Ok. Thank you. Turp is what I thought, so I'm good to go!
