Ah just came here from watching some american baking-videoes and their endless amounts of sponge cake and vanilla-buttercream..
This is how i love baking - focusing on the taste and consistency and not just baking to serve something that is 'hits you in the face'-cloyingly sweet..

I think it's more to each his or her own. You don't have to attack another's style to complement another. Statements like that are rather telling.
Some would think that all that fresh fruit should be in a fruit cup or salad! I am American and do not like icing on a cake! Prefer unsweetened whipped cream, nuts!

Maizena is actually a Brazilian brand of cornstarch, the most popular and famous one! Here we call cornstarch Maizena usually.

In Mexico, it's a drink! Cornstarch based with a variety of flavours. A little thick. And very filling.
Also Venezuelan. I think it's a very international brand

I wish I could make whipped cream, for cakes. The don't sell heavy cream, where I live. I suspect it's because the Canadian government thinks it's too fattening.

How far back does this traditional cake recipe go? Did they use mangos a lot in it, or was it just whatever fruit they had on hand? I see Norwegian desserts only on your channel, so I don't know a lot about them.
A traditional use just strawberries, and walnuts and chocolate, and a lot of people use all the fruits they love, i just go after my taste buds and these fruits combined with everything taste amazing!
Manuela Kjeilen Thanks for the education! I figured it was a modern interpretation, but I didn't want to assume. Do you use sugar or powdered sugar to sweeten the whipped cream? I'm guessing it's just barely enough to not make it bitter, but balance out the sweetness of everything else?
It's very popular to sweeten whipped cream with vaniljesukker - vanilla (powdered) sugar. :>

This is nice Im sure it taste great however, its a modern version and not a traditional Norsk Bløtekake...
Here is the difference:
Traditional Norwegian Bløtekake
The Sponge is more or less the same.
Filling: Vipped Cream with vanila sugar, Strawberries, Blueberries and Rubus chamaemorus (Norwegian multe)) - No chocholate, nuts or tropical fruits....
Hi mam.. Your cream is thick but mine got melt very soon.. Even at the time when I used it in piping bag to decorate the cake or in making roses, shapes were not formed sharp as it is melted so soon ..What to do to stay my cream thick at least for a day 😞 plz suggest.
Gauri Vidyarthi , mix your whipping cream for at least 3 to 4 mins but if you're using some liquid flavor for your cream mix till 5 mins...or you can put some pudding mix or gelatin to stabilize the cream... check for stabilized whipped cream for icing cakes... hope this will help you. ^_^

I don't like this recipe. Who is going to be able to eat one of those huge slices? There are way too many different flavours. There is just too much going on inside the cake.
