Good Value Euro Wine (Rioja)

In this episode we try a few wines from Rioja, Spain to see if they are considered good value European wines in terms of dollar versus quality. We try a 2019 Herederos del Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva, Spain ($35 from ‪@DanMurphysLiquor‬) and a 2006 San Vicente, Rioja, Spain. We also share our thoughts on the Coravin wine preservation system, provide an overview of ‘sonic aging’ and how music may be able to accelerate the wine aging process. Also, Jason reviews a wine that he tasted recently which was the 2022 Pinot Grigio, Word of Mouth, Orange, NSW.

Great stuff guys.
I haven't had a Rioja in about 3 years. I never really picked it at the bottle shop because I always enjoyed the Italian wines more for value. But I'll definitely pick up that Reserva from Dan's to see what Jason is on about! Cheers🍷

@@TheWinedUp Depends on the budget but you can usually get a decent Langhe Rosso in the $20s-30s, and can reach for a great Nebbiolo or Rosso di Montalcino in the $30s-50s. Dan’s has a Cipressi Barbera for $35 which is amazing value too.

Poor man Coravin: right after opening the wine, fill it into smaller, brown glass screw cap bottles, right to the top. The wine lasts as long as the Coravine'd wine, but you can re-use the bottles forever. Works great.
