If you like the Marantz sound from the PM 6003,6006,6007...? You have to listen a old 1070 from the early 70,s (the one with only a blue led for the power not the one with power in letters) fully recapped with good Nichicon gold serie caps. sound great especially Mark Knofflers guitar thats my plan. Ive just bought 2nd hand 602 s2 and sub woofer for $200 looking to pair up with amp/av receiver any suggestions?
Ok, so I tested my B&W 603 S2's with the Marantz pm6007 and I sent the Marantz back. It is a nice sounding amp but the Denon PMA 800NE is better for the B&W 603 S2. It might be just my taste but I recommend that you try the Denon as well. I now swithced to the Denon PMA1600NE and it sounds amazing with the 603 S2. It is a more expensive amp but it's totally worth it. Some of the differencies are that for the same volume the Marantz volume button is at 11 o clock and on the Denon (both amps) the button will be at 9 o clock. But this is not so important - it is just how the gain of the amp is set. More important is that on the Denon amp the bass is more present. Not louder necessarily but it feels like it covers more of the instruments in a natural tone of bass and mid base. Also mid base is more muddy on the Marantz and the highs are more refined on the Denon. Especially on the PMA 1600NE. Also the PMA1600NE has a great separation of instruments significantly better than on the Marantz. You need to hear for yourself :)
Interesting comments on Denon vs Marantz. I've just bought the Denon pma 800ne and so far I like what I'm hearing but I'm hoping the sound will get with better with burn-in. I say this because although the sound is better in every respect than my old Marantz m-cr603, punch, dynamics, drive etc, one area where it falls short so far is in sweetness where the old Marantz wins. But I think this sweetness will come with time but of course it could be just a psycho-acoustic thing and my ears adjusting to the new sound lol!
True B&W calls for power you litteraly can punch into those devices. The more the better the sound. My 604S3 are rated 200W continous ... there is room with this amp - but you really need all that power? Check this amp headroom, I see power supply may be a bit small, output transistory used on this however can do more, much more. So I'd simply upgrade the PSU to tweak out a bit more of punch of it - maybe a shame doing that on such a nicely constructed amp for THAT price, no?
Totally disagree. The problem today is most of what I call newbies to hifi want bass & more bass to the extent its unnatural but they believe it to be natural. Bass needs control not booming. Some hi fi know it alls have never even been to a live concert in their life. The way the Marantz deals with its bass is spot on its musical & lifelike. The PM6007 should be used in small to mid-sized rooms. Of course your loud speaker's efficiency/power needs are a top priority.

Just buy the marantz MM7055 power amp. I use the same set up...
This set is perfect for me
I auditioned this exactly setup today and found it too bright and unpleasant. My ears bleed with that aluminium twitter. Godd bass tough.
what amp did you used?
@@Ibanezkanly marantz pm6007 and also pm7000n. Both with music in usb stick. I ended buying the new polk signature elite 55. Love that tweeter, much more natural imo.
@@aficionadohiend as long as your amp can adjust Mid Bass And treble it will help...
@@Ibanezkanly Sure, and that is why i bought the 6007, so anybody at home can adjust sound to their taste, but prefer polk for the much cheaper price. Bowers are incredible when adjusted correctly, but i really do not like aluminium twitters and also they more expensive.
@@aficionadohiend yes sir. go for what you like best :D
Hi pma800 be and marantz wh ich u perfer
Why don’t you do yourself a favour and move your speaker away from the wall.
Lol i know right?
Dear Sir,
The Marantz is a great amplifier. One of the best in the market regardless the price. Unfortunately, these are extremely poor speakers with utterly annoying midrange. You should avoid speakers with metal dome tweeter and poor kevlar midrange diaphragms.
Sorry to say the bass is toio muddy and out of control. This speaker needs lot of power.
:D the Amp is not enough power for this speaker
